  1. Oh I see, thx Thecommuter.
  2. Thx nursel56
  3. deetrain replied to snowybee's topic in LPN to RN
Snowy bee, did you pass your lpn class? Was it was easier than the RN program ?
  4. Nurses will be phased out with pcts, that's what my instructor used to tell me. If companies are looking for perfection then robots might be the solution among imperfect mortals.
  5. Iculinda's choice of words were poorly thought out and insensitive, her contribution to my post was off topic. I'm no longer feeding the trolls and the cyber bullies in this site.
  6. As a former (ASN) nursing student, there were a few CNA skills I had to learn. I think it would make sense to have the skills overlap b/w RN, LPN,C.N.A. How can you be a good nurse if you don't know basic nursing skills???
  7. Why would I be trolling this site, there are way more fun places to go to then here...
  8. You're working in a women dominated field, lots of cattiness goes on. Meow!!
  9. I never said lpn aren't nurses. I just wanted to know what type of skills are taught in the lpn program.
  10. What type of skills are taught in the LPN program? Are the skills similar to what a CNA do?
  11. Assisted living or hospice
  12. I withdrew from NS 4 years ago. Recently, I completed a CNA program and I'm preparing for the state exam; haven't set a date yet.
  13. Iculinda....you provide an excellent example of horizontal violence. If the healthcare system is made up of mean people like you, I have no quarrels of leaving. FYI...alot of average/below average students have passed the RN program despite being eff ups in H.S and not knowing much about things in general. They know how to study and retain information well or they have a passion for nursing which I don't think I do. Healthcare is made up different specialities and I'm just trying to find which area I fit in the most. Thanks for your unproductive post
  14. It seems that most clinical instructors act like drill sergeants to their students. If a student shows a slight hint of uncertainty, the instructor will think the student is not a good fit for the profession and try to fail him/her. Do you think other health related programs (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Dentistry, Mammography ect.) have the same mentality as nursing instructors?
  15. Maybe the classmate wanted the instructor's approval before doing the task or she was scared the pt might fall and she would be blamed for it.
  16. I was just describing a scenario of a student's performance during clinical, I was hoping a seasoned RN/mental health professional could spot signs of ADD/anxiety or other mental condition, based on the information I've given.. :::shrugs:::
  17. Really Jasonj880......you need to take 2 steps back or maybe 3 feet away because you don't know me, and you don't know the entire situation. I would just keep on browsing if you have nothing to contribute, you just want to start trouble on this site because you can't take your frustrations out on anyone irl. :::Shakes head ::::
  18. Thanx..patience 1. Since I was posting a lot of depressing topics, I thought I'd add some humor to this site..lol
  19. How would you analyze this situation: cna student accidentally bumps an ensure bottle on the nurses cart while carrying a food tray. Do you think this was due to nervousness or not paying attention. The student was aware that there was a cart in the middle of the hallway. and it was the student's first day at the nur. home.
  20. For catheter care, it states to clean inside of labia first. Is that the middle part of the taco or the sides of the taco? Taco=lady parts
  21. Slower student- struggling with the skills/studies
  22. Yes, I went to A.C. I don't know much bout Franklin Inst.
  23. Is it really necessary to scold a student when the situation isn't that serious? Ie.) Not offering coffee (I didn't know what her drinking/diet restrictions were). If you make a big scene in front of the pt, he/she will mostly likely feel worried and anxious. When a pt is coding, why do you allow one student to watch while you prevent another student from doing so? How can the slower student learn anything if you baby them and ride their ass? Is the instructor held responsible for the student's mistake, does the instructor lose their license?
  24. I'm easily discouraged regardless of what major I'm in.
  25. My cna instructor told me that she has doubts that I'll pass the skills test. I don't appreciate her telling me that in front of the class because my spirits are down, and the other students don't want to study with me because I'm pegged as the slow learner. i don't understand why nursing instructors always have to pick on the weakest students in a rude manner. I try to be on my A game but I'm bound to make mistakes as a newbie in the health field. Thank u mean instructors for showing me the cruel, heartless side of nursing. I'm leaving this profession and not looking back.
