West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
Yaap! I am enrolled and this is my second semester (BSN program) and I will finish next year August. You need to ask them to explain the difference or if possible get that school catalog from the school that you went to. I had such a problem at the beginning and I provided them with my CC catalog and then compared with what is written on their website, finally they gave me my credits otherwise I would have repeated four classes there lol.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
They do that sometime but some of the course you need to argue with them b/c they might need you to retake the classes that you don't need. They gave me some credits after I question them the defferences between the courses and my community college course catalogue. Later they gave me the credit. I sorry to hear that, try other schools.

West Coast University - BS Nursing
I am going to Orange County Campus and I haven't experienced any problem with the front office so far. The nursing program is hard but if you push yourself you will be okay, they don't just pass you. I have no complain so far but the sometimes instructors they won't cover everything, u need to read on your own b/c there is too much information so u read on your own. Myself I don't have any complain here in OC campus.
-
West Coast University - BS Nursing
you need a 5unit biochemistry. Thats true u need to take both of them b/c if is less than 5 units you will retake it. Myself I took it again b/c it was a 3unit class and this is what they told me. You need a combination.

Saidyn you can check on WCU website if the Chemistry that you are taking is transferable. Go to registrar and then click on transfer credit then Access to your TES .....then look for the name of your school. When you find your school you will be able to see the classes and their units that are transferable to WCU. I hope this will help and take as many classes as you can @ CC before you transfer if possible.

advice for a soon to be west coast university student!
I think its better to take as much classes as you can from a cc and then transfer. I understand that its hard to get into all classes that you need but this will reduce the cost. WCU their classes are fast(9wks classes tons of infor.) but doable and have no waiting list but $$$$$$. If you don't want to wait thats fine it be prepared to study hard. Its only one year to complete all the required classes

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
Also when you get there don't let them fool you by telling you that if you pull back and take the remaining class somewhere you won't have a spot when you come back w/ all the pre-reqs, especially the representatives. They told me that but I did not listen to her, so I waited another term to take some classes @ cc and then I went back. Those represantatives know how to push you into the program. Did u ever look @ Western Governors University, is way much cheaper than WCU, is in Santa Ana and it has a BSN program is WASC accreditated. Now they have a program for basic students meaning students w/out LVN license. Try but some of their classes are online.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
This is how u check it. Go to school website, then Register, then Transfer credits, then You can access the TES system here, then list of schools will show up, then click on the of your school, then view all, you need to click on different years, If you school offers cultural pluralism is going to show or try other schools that are close to you and see if the have it. You need to make sure is the right course that you r taking. Myself I knock it down to 85k b/c I took biochem, human psychology and English two there. Some people that I am going to school with are paying like 70K. It depends w/ the transferable classes that you have that's why you need to be familiar with their transfer of credits in case they say something you can argue w/them and express that you know that your classes are on their list.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
you can open their website and go to transfer of credit there is a list of schools and classes for each school and their equivalences. If you take all the required pre-reqs it can go down to 70-90 K for BSN in two years including everything such as bks , instead of paying 132K. Good luck try other schools too.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
Is just like classes that you take @ a cc. CC average is 70%, if your average is below 70% is a D right then u have to repeat the whole course. Same applies to this if your average grade of the whole course is below 76% including ati test that means you fail the class you need to retake it. You only repeat the one that you fail. Some nursing classes have Clinicals or Skills lab then lecture. It depends which one. Nursing schools have different cutting scores. Some their average is 80% and above that is considered passing score. WCU is 76% and above for nursing program but pre-reqs is 70% and above. Nursing grading system is different from gen ed. classes. Regardless you have a passing mark on your grades you still need to take it. Let me say it in this way, is your final just like every class that u take. No student is suppose to miss the finals @CC right. My advice for those who want to go to WCU, take all your pre-reqs @ cc then transfer, it reduces the amount. This is what I did.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
You will take it and every student has to take it, if you your grades are up already during the during the entire course then the exit exam doesn't affect your grades that much. Lets say you had 80% or above then you get 72% on the exit exam you will still pass the course. The exit exam for the nursing program is comprehensive to all the material that u have covered in that term. Is good b/c it makes you review the infor. and prepares you for your Nclex. My advice to you is no matter which school you will attend, don't worry about exit exam you will learn the everything, the instructors will prepare you for it and later you will find out that the exit exam easy and it refreshes your mind.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
May be I did not make it clear on you. The ATI replaces the Hesi not for admission. You take ATI exit exam every end of the core nursing course ex, Medsurge 1 and is not that bad at all. Almost all nursing schools have the exit exams. As I say, If you do pass on your other exams it doesn't affect you, as long as you have overall 76% (average pass mark) then you r ok. The main thing is to utilize the ATI website and their practice tests. They will give you a code to have access to the ATI website. Is good now that you don't need to retake the whole course if you fail it. The most important thing is to be above the average and the one that I took for med-surge 1 our instructor gave us study guide for it. I hope this information will help you to understand a little bit better.

Does a degree from west coast university transfer to cal state?
West Coast is now WASC accreditated, since Dec 2011. You can now transfer anywhere, but is expensive.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
Here @ Orange County we are no longer taking Hesi exit exam & I think si the same as other campus. Now we are using ATI but they just combine it to your other exams, if you reach the average =76% and above then you continue but if you r below average that means you fail the course ....retake it. Before they were giving this Hesi exit exam and if you fail it even if you have A in class you had to repeat the whole course. Right now the ATI people come to school and give students their books that you to read, practice exams for every chapter, if you do this, you won't have any problem taking their exams, . Just confirm if NH campus is still giving this hesi but I don't think so. I am just giving you information based on my experience here @Orange County where I am going. Feel free to ask me qs. As I said before that is up to you to make your own decisions & I think you know that the school is expensive. Now WCU is WAS acc. you can transfer to any university or transfer class from any other accrd. school and they give you credits= low dollars. Anyway don't think that I am trying to.........as I said earlier its up to you.

West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!
It depends I am attending Orange County, but they only allow u to retake the class that u fail. ex. if u fail the clinical part & pass the lecture then u need to repeat only the clinical part. Regarding the exams, it's hard for the instructors to cover the whole ch., all disease processes, so some of the information u need to read it on your own. Exams r every wk. In my cohort only two students repeated so far. In terms of job, I am still going to school and where I am doing my clinicals, they r a couple graduates from WCU & one is from NH campus. It depends on how you r going to market yourself. Of course some hospitals will prefer graduates from state universities over wcu b/c is a private university. Nursing program is not easy.I am telling you, don't think that BSN program @ wcu is easy since its a private university b/c they don't want to loose their WASC accreditation, be prepared & make your own decision.
