I'm a 2nd degree student graduating in early August this year. I will have completed my BSN program in 12 months when I finish. How do I list this program on my education? Do I state: Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing instead of just Bachelor's in Nursing? Because the dates of my attendance are only 1 year so I assume I need to call this out in the resume somehow. Thanks for any advice!

Trying to get this down solid for my clinical tomorrow....so the patient has a capped PIV that is used only to administer IV antibiotics intermittently. Let's say I have to bring in a brand new bag of NS as my primary along with my bag of antibiotics. I'm going to start this scenario with new tubing and NS bags and am listing the steps I will do..I know I need to verify med and patient id's but not listing that here, just the technical steps: 1) Either in patient's room or med room I will spike and prime my NS bag 2) take primed/spiked NS and new secondary tubing set and antibiotic piggyback to patient's room 3) hang primary bag on pole, set antibiotics and secondary tubing aside for now 4) site scrub patient's piv site and flush with 5 ml saline to ensure patency-leave saline flush connected to PIV while I unscrew cap of primary tubing 5) take off saline flush and attach primary tubing to patient's IV-ensure any clamps are open 6) insert tubing into pump (alaris in this case) and set primary to low rate and VTBI (for ex rate: 30 ml VTBI: 300) 7) ensure primary NS is flowing into patient 8) scan antibiotics in MAR 9) spike antibiotic secondary bag, site scrub connector site on primary tubing and connect to primary connector 10) lower secondary antibiotic bag lower than primary NS, open secondary roller clamp to allow NS to "back prime" into secondary tubing ( do I then invert the antibiotic back and squeeze the NS that I just primed into the antibiotic bag?) 11) hang secondary higher than primary, program secondary on pump and press start. Ensure secondary is infusing into patient. I'm confused about step 10.....do I need to invert the piggy back antibiotic bag and squeeze the NS into the antibiotic bag or do I not invert bag and just let the NS run into the secondary tubing until it reaches the drip chamber and that's considered "back priming". Thanks so much....

Congrats to you and I'm sure we all appreciate you letting us know there has been some movement with notices going out. This prompted me to check, but still no word either way. I have actually pretty much decided upon an accelerated program in Madison, WI that I was accepted too. :) But still curious about what my fate eventually is for Michigan. Good luck to all :)

Thanks. I was accepted so we are planning to try and make this happen. Just a hefty price tag...someone at the school told me she would feel confident saying new grads make at least $50K.

I wonder if anyone has ever been accepted late without being on the waitlist. I think it's just time for me to move on. I know I had one too many pre reqs left anyways....but would still like the official dear John...lol

P.S. that was Wake Health that told me how much new grads make...

It's pretty bad, bad enough that it is definitely making me think thrice (lol) about going to school in Greensboro (NCAT).. My husband and I did fly out last March to the Raleigh area and I did attend an info session at UNC Chapel Hill and loved the school. I may still apply for the Jan start term, but not sure. I'm still waiting to hear on a couple other schools still. But jeez, 34K?

Hey, I was wondering if you know how much newly graduated RN's make in the Madison area? Also, how's the cost of living there?

I ended up contacting a nurse recruiter at one of the big hospitals in the area and found out that new grad RN's make about $35K a year, based on working an average of about 31 hours a week. Hopes this helps others that might be wondering what the REAL wages are, and not based on salary calculators on the web which tend to be over inflated, in my experience searching. Cheers!

Hello! Tried to find this on the site but had no luck with recent info. Can anyone tell me what the new grad salaries are in Greensboro and/or Winston-Salem? Or even if you've had a few years of experience? Just want to make sure I'm making a good decision to move to NC for school and have at least a decent salary upon graduating in 2 years (compared to CA, where I know salaries are high, but getting that job difficult, not to mention high cost of living). Thanks!!

Hey there! I just found out that I got accepted to NC A&T's BSN program today. I live in CA so haven't even stepped foot on the campus to check it out yet before I decide yay or nay. What I was hoping is to hear from anyone in North Carolina on what they've heard about the program. Also, I know it's a predominantly african american school, but I am not. Obviously this does not bother me too much or else I wouldn't have applied :) I just hope that I am not looked down upon by my class mates because of my ethnicity.....I will be moving out of state with my family to attend this program, so a lot riding on this decision. Nursing schools in CA are super competetive and hard to get into and we were open to relocating if need be. This is a second career for me as well so there are no go backs as far as I'm concerned if I end up accepting admission. The reason I'm posting on the general NC board is b/c no one has responded to my previous posts in the nursing programs board. Thanks so much!

No kidding. Total weather shock, although I am done with our boring so cal. weather! Seasons sound great!! Well I emailed the school today and found out they are on spring break and that won't probably hear anything until first of April

Well that's nice to know since I'm out of state! Well Q said in the email a week or two..tomorrow will be a week so we shall see. How do you like living in Madison? How cold does it actually get in the winter? LOL.
