How does a Canadian LPN become registered in the USA ?
I went through it and believe me it does not matter being married to an american citizen ..maybe to get a work permit but not in matter of getting a license in the states being a RPN from CANADA ..I went through the process and finnally got a license here in TEXAS .. :Melody:believe me it takes patience and you have to know many backdoors to enter and circumvent the system ..its not fair but it can be done...

How does a Canadian LPN become registered in the USA ?
Depending what state you are moving to ,RPN's from Canada are not recognized in the states ..you will have to go through this long outdrwan process ..I will give you all the information and where to start ..it took me almost 3 years to get my license in Texas ... Now if you move to New York its a little easier ... So if you need my help let me know...and being married to a Us citizen does NOT help any..... :chuckle:Melody:

RN License endorsement to TX
I just got my LVN license for Texas and since the RN and LVN board are in the same place . Here is a number to call 512-305-7400. Call early in the morning right at 8 am when they open stay on the line do not hang up ,even if it says "line is busy call later ,press 0 again and keep doing it ,it can take up to 45 minutes but someone will answer the phone. There FAX number is 512-305-7401 All forms you can get of the internet @ www.bne.state.tx.us I tell you.you'll need patience ,but once you get to talk to someone you have to be persistant ,ask for their name .Often that does not help because everytime you call someone else picks up the phone. Fill out your forms early and then make sure you have everything else you need either faxed or mailed to them ,then check that they have recieved everything ,if you can , check every day . Then once they issue you a Temp.License do not wait till it almost expieres after 2 weeks call and ask where your permanent license is and when it will be issued. DO NOT forget to ask whom ever you talk to if all your papers are in order . I hope this will help you .. GOOD LUCK

Now What
Now listen to this I kept calling ,calling and calling...I was told I had my Endorsement papers missing from Canada. The board had recieved all info from New York But requiered an endorsement from Canada. I faxed the request to Canada they in return faxed it to Texas ...Now the board only sits Tuesdays and Fridays...I was told it might be proceced by Friday. Meanwhile the company I work for is holding my job and letting me work on my CNA license not as a nurse but as a INSERVICE COORDINATOR for CNA"S ..I was even told by my ADON that he would drive to pick up my license so it would not take any time to be mailed or would have no delay . The staff @ my work is real supportive and the Administrator said "that if I wasn't such a good Nurse ,they would have not helped me as much" I keep calling the Board of Texas every day ,every day I get someone else on the phone its frustrating ...but hopefully by Friday this mess will have been sorted out. I will inform you all ...and THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVISE... it has been a long hard battle ..I have written and passed the NCLEX-PN... New YORK gave me a license ...Texas GAVE me a temp. license and now why shouldn't they give me a permanent license ..I have gotten a full time job and worked for 90 days ..and I have proffen myself on the job... so please pray for me that Friday all will be OK ....

Now What
Here I am once again ..Texas finnally had issued me a temporary licence.. I got a JOB ..I am employed as a LVN and now the Texas Board let my license expire ..they gave me NO REASON for it ..just when I called the answer I got was ...your license is in process for review... I NEVER IN ALL MY LIFE AS A LVN heard such bull.. for anyone out there whom that has happened to ....any advise for me... I have a current RPN license from Canada ...and a LPN license from NEW York State ..I also Passed the NCLEX-PN exam .... I am still working but now my workplace asked me to produce my permanent license since the temp one expieres .. I am at a loss and I do NOT want to loose my job....I am a exellent Nurse and I always do my continuing education and would NEVER set myself or a patient at RISK.... PLEASE ANYONE OUT THERE WITH ANY ADVISE .. GINGER :angryfire

correct calculation of Intake & Output
I need some advise ..just started working in a Nursing home...nightshift .. generally everyone is well taken care of and I really like the Nurses I work with. Now here is my problem ....Intake and output charting ..it seemed everyone just copies the person before ..now I calculated some of the G-Tube Intakes and its not correct in the Marsheet ...I wrote the amount I calculated .. now it looks like I try to make everyone else look bad... any advise ..I don't want to alert the "state" when they come , to incorrect charting ....what would you have done?????? any advise ...

what color are you as a nurse
bright yellow may I say .. :)
-
Black nurses VS. White nurses
White vs. Black....that should not even be up for discussion ..don't we as Nurses have better things to do .... color should NEVER be an issue..for its only skin deep .. discrimination in NURSING should have NO place.... IF patients discriminate against us because of our color ..then there is channels to go through to gain respect ... If patients or other nurses don't like us because of our color .. ohh well we don't have to like each other ...as long as we are competent and do our job well ... the patient should be grateful to have a excellent Patient care provided..... color should not matter ... we all have our diffrences ..but I always say .. if we have to work together we have to put our diffrences aside .... once we go home to our own lifes ...well no one needs to have friends they do not need .....

Survey: Should nurses from other countries be recruited to aid in the nursing shortag
Just a note ..I feel if a Nurse is from a country (for example Canada) that has similar nursing standards then the USA ,give them an opportunity to pass the NCLEX test ..then recrute them. There is enough jobs out there .. We Nurses have to respect each other .. as long as we work together ... As long as we strives for "exellence" in PATIENT CARE ....continue to educate ourselves and stay informed .. it really does not matter what country we were recruted from .. we all have earned the right to care for patients in the USA....especially since America was built by immigrants .... DIVERSITY THATS WHAT MAKES AMERICA SO GREAT ... GOD BLESSES AMERICA BECAUSE IT IS DIVERSE ....and we as NURSES should be the first in line to respect each other ... as we work to promote "HEALTHCARE" ...anywhere in the world.... we NEED GOOD NURSES .......

License endorsement for TEXAS
Party time..I got my LVN License for TEXAS.... I must say the board acted quickly ..once I send in my Endorsement papers:chuckle So all you Nurses out there ...be persistant ..once you pass your NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN .... getting a license it just a stone throw away .. It appears that the Board is not easyly accessable ..but if you follow the direction given by the board ..they will act on it quickly .. SO as for myself all I have to say ... PERSISTANCE ...pervails..... anyone needing any pointers or help (especially if you are a RPN from CANADA ).. I will help ...

Psych Nurse Recently Diagnosed Bipolar
being diagnosed as bi-polar is not something you have to be ashamed of ..you just have to listen to yourself and how much stress you can handle...you seem to enjoy your job and what you are doing ...so keep on doing what you doing ... often you might be able to relate better to your patients ... I wish you all the best ..stay focused ...and you will do just fine...(also get a second opinion if you were only diagnosed recently )...:chuckle

Career switch - from 6 figure salary
but if we truly search of what is most important to us we usually make the right choice... Money talks ..money means a lot and it will buy almost anything...but truly "FAMILY" is what we can count on ... so if you have to make a choice between time for your family and being with your kids ..or money in the bank... I vote for family ... but remember if you are use to the kind of spending money it will be hard to adjust ..and once the money is diappearing you might wish you had stayed ... but time spend with your kids when they are young is more then you can ever earn in money ...and the pay off in later life cannot be measured in gold...
