  1. Thank you again for the advice. I was offered the position yesterday! I am extremely excited to begin this next chapter in my career!
  2. Thank you for the input! This is actually the second time I've interviewed for this position. The first time was almost 6 months ago, but another candidate was chosen. Now that it has opened up again I wanted to try again. However, I plan on being more prepared. I have my ideas of what I would like to change, how I feel I will manage, and a bunch of other ideas written down. Is it inappropriate if I take my notes with me? Also, (to answer your question), my interview is an hour after my shift so I will have time to change clothes and dress appropriately. So should I change clothing even if my manger told me, the last interview, that scrubs were ok? I really am hoping to get the position and I will definitely keep trying in the future if I don't get it this time. Also, I will let you know. Thanks again for the input!
  3. Hello everyone. I am looking for some input on an upcoming interview for an assistant nurse manager position in the ICU I am employed in. One of the four assistant managers left for graduate school so a position is open for internal candidates. Myself and another nurse have both applied and interviews will be next week. The interviews are being scheduled after our scheduled shift. So my first question is should I bring a suit to change into after my shift or do I wear my scrubs? Next, any tips or suggestions as far as interview questions or what I should be prepared for? Thanks in advance for the help!
  4. I went through several backpacks before finally investing in my JanSport backpack. (padded shoulder straps, laptop compartment). I always carry my books to class - if I have a break, I leave some in my car and switch out during the breaks so it doesn't kill my back. I like my bookbag because I can fit everything I need (my classmates joke about me because I have everything, but funny they always come and ask me if they don't! ) And if I have extra time, I have everything I need to do homework or whatever I need. I'm not a big fan of the roller backpacks. The one I had, when I decided to pick it up and put it on, the wheels dug into my lower back. (it snows where I am so sometimes I had to pick it up like that...)
  5. I am a LPN in Ohio. I am back in school and only 4 months from graduating for my RN. Anyway, I was very recently employed full time in a long-term care facility. I had requested to drop down to PRN and was denied by my manager. Since school has started and I'm already overwhelmed with my last semester, I decided to just quit. After turning this in to the manager, she states "you may want to look into it, but this could be considered abandonment and you could lose your license" Can I really be?? I didn't give the 2 weeks notice, but I wasn't on-duty (nor reporting for or leaving from a shift). The closest thing was that I was scheduled to work tonight - I turned in my resignation 7 hours before my shift... Unfortunately, I have looked online for a while now and can't find anything specific to the laws in Ohio about this... it seems like other states you needed to have accepted a patient load (either by written or verbal report) in order for a patient abandonment claim to be valid. What do you all think?
  6. In northwest Ohio, there are very few LPN jobs - however there seems to be plenty of RN jobs.
  7. Well... I took NCLEX-PN on Friday. I did the pearson vue trick on Saturday - got the good pop-up. Was still nervous... not sure to believe it or not ... paid the $7.95 for my quick results - they said "pass" :) ... still hard to believe... Logged onto board of nursing website today...and... I'm officially licensed!!!!!!!!!!!! Belive the pearson vue trick! It worked for me!
  8. So... after crying on my hour drive home because I'm 99% sure I have failed NCLEX... I came across this PVT. I found the thread, then had to search my house for that piece of paper I had written my username and password on (since I couldn't remember) ... well, couldn't find that so after calling pearson vue and getting that straightened out, I tried this pearson vue trick. Much to my absolute shock... I got the "good pop-up" ... Being the skeptic that I am - even after reading through hundreds of posts where this has worked for people - has anyone gotten this "good pop-up" and still failed?
  9. Yeah... I feel like that. I took my NCLEX today - and I am 99% sure I failed (over half of my test was SATA)...... we'll see. Luckily I'm from Ohio and it doesn't take too long for results - just not sure how long for the weekend.
  10. Well... Just got home from taking NCLEX-PN... and I'm about 99% sure I failed. Everything I was told, everything I read, everything I've known about NCLEX is not what I experienced... I thought that the bulk of the test was supposed to be multiple-choice style questions... at least half of mine were select all that apply (which, I absolutely am HORRIBLE with). Then, I felt like I didn't know anything on the test. After everything I went through in school, we had many tests which were "NCLEX style" - we even had an exit exam... which (according to ATI - I have a 98% probability of passing NCLEX)... but - those were all multiple-choice... unlike my NCLEX... I'm freaking out... I've already cried - my husband told me not to worry but it sucks because until I pass, I can't get a job. *sigh*... guess I won't know until I get my results...
