1. Looking to find low cost housing for the summer, and potentially for the full year. This may be possible by finding roommates who are also in the program. Of course, people more focused, not heavy partying is in best interests. If interested, to discuss, email [email protected]
2. Did Northeastern say when their decisions will be? Do they interview every candidate they are interested in?
3. I received the email, but was unsure of what it meant? My family informed me it was probably a California "sorry, we let you go."
4. Best of luck to all who made it thru, I am not offered or offered waitlist. Good Luck and nice meeting you.
5. How do you know if you get the 25k grant?
6. If you have a car, should you sell it before attending? Are all the clinical sites within distance from the school? Is there a reasonable location where you save more if you drive for an hour to work versus living in the area? I read that 90% of the students live in campus housing, but I do not know if that data is accurate.
7. Thank you for the link, it worked, but I did not get in. Good luck to all
8. Someone please tell me the url to the portal for finding your decision? I log on to the url, https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=UPENN-N , and see no status about admission
9. From previous year threads, people mention that there was no deposit. Aside note: my work authorized me the days for UCSF, but not for Columbia (who accepted me). Does anyone know if UCSF has held their committee for decision on applicants?
10. Yes, I was comparing what they said during interview as anticipated start time, the Financial Aid date from UCSF Office of the Registrar - Academic Calendar, and the nursing mepn website stating courses begin the second or third week. I am coordinating with my work for all of my schools I applied to and UCSF begins courses first. UCSF is my top choice school also. I keep wondering if crossing my fingers works?
11. I hope notifications come soon! UCSF is an impressive school. Anyone have any hints at what specific day the 2015 cohort begins?
12. I am interviewing for 2015 MEPN FNP. Go BLUE! :)
13. I am questioning because a UCSF non-nursing office, on the phone, mentioned that some MEPN students take a break for one year before attending the graduate school program. If that is true, it differs from the nursing website.
14. 1. Out of curiosity, what specialties have a year off before enrolling in the second and third year? 2. And, do any students choose to work for a year before enrolling in the graduate program after passing the NCLEX-RN who are not in the question 1 specialty list? Morning, the 23rd, for me ~
15. Anyone hear anything from any of the schools?
16. What would your friends say about you? Why this specialty? 90% are questions from information I included in my application. For example, what did you do in this volunteer position? I did not anticipate any of the questions asked. I believe they are looking to fill gaps where they want to know more data. Good luck Thursday!
17. Update: The interviewer was very friendly and asked, in my opinion, important admission deciding questions tailored to my application.
18. Zoikers: I have an email. I have a phone interview tomorrow and was contacted Friday.
19. I will be staying a couple of blocks away from the Parnassus campus. I am potentially sightseeing post-interviews at the Golden Gate Bridge, UCSF library (believe it!), coffee shops, Golden Gate Park, a city view spot, and maybe a bus tour. If anyone is available the 23rd (after the interviews) or anytime the 24th let me know and I will more adequately determine how to PM on allnurses.com. One thing to note is that previous year MEPNs occasionally had a meet and greet the day after the interview, so this may change some of my schedule.
20. I did not get in. Best of luck to those who are permitted to interview. Don't forget to check out the Yale Library. Wow.
21. Direct entry ("accelerated") seems a best fit because I am 27. I want to start a family and buy a house. I will be 31 when I leave the program. I know I want a PhD and now I will have the MS. After 4 years in the US navy knowing I would be a nurse I am looking forward to getting there....
22. Family Nurse Practitioner.
23. I have learned that working part-time as an RN while completing master's curriculum (2nd and 3rd year) is helpful in landing a job. I assume that we would be able to work anywhere. Now, with the magnet hospital being less appealing: I am pretty sure some of our clinicals are at the magnet hospital (UCSF Medical Center), which is a high accreditation. I'll take it! Debt: I will be renting with multiple people. Other schools for working after the first year: might be past the deadline for applying. You could always opt for accelerated bachelor since many of those schools have deadlines in March and then work. But, that would be a good question to ask in the interview, calling the school, or another student. I do not know employment demographics for second or third year. If accepted, I plan on volunteering and working part time.
24. General Health Sciences. B.S.
25. Thanks Tenta. That sounds really great! Although, I have accepted the interview, I am doing what I can for a couple of weeks to be permitted to interview on site (us navy). Still excited! When I get approved to go I will send you my details. I am currently in Norfolk, Va and so I am a stretch unaware of what is recommended to see.
