  1. Thank you for your input coast2coast! I have about $15,000 worth of loans from undergrad, and i factored in other fees and living expenses to come up with the $175k. I'm waiting to hear back from Simmons College and Northeastern. I'm worried that I put all my eggs in one basket by applying to such an expensive area (Boston) and only direct-entry. However, I'm only 21 years old and I somehow feel that I will have the time to pay back all those loans. Advice?
  2. Hi all, I recently got into MGH Institute of Health Professions' direct-entry nursing program. I would prefer to begin my career as a mid-level provider, so this direct-entry program is most attractive. However, attending this school would put me into some serious debt (some $175,000 total). If I take this route, I will start my career as an NP at 24 years old. Considering that I will start off making $85k and up to $100k, is this debt doable? What would you recommend? Also, does anyone have any experience with MGH IHP? Any alumni or current students? Thank you all for your input!!
  3. I actually have "general" checked on my contact preferences. Maybe I just didn't get the email, or maybe you could be onto something! Either way, still super nervous.
  4. Wellp, that's upsetting I didn't receive an alert. Was it via e-mail?
  5. I'd like to thank you so much for your insight! I haven't heard back from any of the three schools yet. The website is pretty bare in terms of the direct-entry program and the admissions people don't seem to know much about the program. Anything else from your experience at Simmons so far that you could share? How many hours/week are you in class and how is the library? (Nerdy, I know)
  6. Just sent in my applications for Simmons College, Northeastern, and MGH direct-entry nursing programs! I was wondering if anyone who is currently a student, also applying, or a graduate has any insight to offer. A little about me: I have a 3.77 overall GPA. I still have the prerequisites A&P I & II and Life Span development courses to complete, and have A's in my completed pre-requisites. I am on an emergency squad where I take patient vitals and assist in patient care. I volunteered at a hospital and shadowed a Physician Assistant. I am a Teaching Assistant at my college for Biology and Microbiology. My GRE scores are about average: 152 verbal , 151 quantitative, and 4 on writing. I live in and am from New York, and love the Boston area. I've applied to only Boston schools! Thanks guys! Excited!
