can you go from ADN to MSN?
I'm planning on doing a ASN to MSN in midwifery. It's a 3yr program.

Confuse about bachelor vs. Associate degree
I would start with your ASN and go from there. Here's there's not much pay difference, if any, between your ASN and BSN. There is 1 hospital system that requires a BSN though, at least they do to work L&D, not sure about their other floors. We have several programs available here to go from ASN to BSN online or at night or part time etc. It usually only takes another year if going full time online. There are also several ASN to MSN programs out there that completely skip over BSN, especially in advanced practice fields.

Book - Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife
I always forget I can go to the library, lol. I wonder if school has anything, probably not. I might have to pay my fines at the local library, oops.

are there any cert. that i can get to boost my chances for a L&D job??
I'm not sure what I'm going to end up putting on my resume, but I'm hoping some of what I do will help later. Doula training, ICAN officer, active LLL member, NE Friends of Midwives member, we'll see. I'm also hoping to take the Human Lactation course online at Wichita State next summer.

Any RN working in L&D with only an ADN??
There are quite a few hospitals here, only 2 of them (same hospital w/ 2 campuses) require a BSN to do L&D. I did have one director tell me she thinks it helps when nurses do at least 6 mos in med surg before applying to L&D but others have told me it's unnecessary. If you're having problems, why not try and get a job in a Dr's office first and then apply after you have some experience? I'm doing that while I go from LPN to ASN hopefully and then I'm relying on that and my outside birth stuff to help me get a job in the hospital when I graduate w/ my ASN. Then I have plans to go CNM, but that's a good 4 yrs from now.

EMLA Cream with Circs
crissrn27, bravo to you! I circed my oldest and chose the better the next time and I only wish I had known more for my oldest. I do not plan on assisting in any circumcisions because of my beliefs about it. http://nurses.cirp.org/#Picture
