Active Duty Navy Direct Accession FY 2017
The process depends on you and your recruiter. Some people it takes 6 months, and others it takes much longer. I wouldn't count on anything less than 6 months though, and that's being generous. Everyone will tell you that you need one year of BSN experience before you apply, but I will tell you otherwise. You MUST have 90 days off orientation to get credentialed. I do not have my CCRN, but have been told it's likely I will work in ICU because ICU is short staffed. I was told prior service is favorable, only because you know what you are getting in to. A new nurse, new to the Navy, new to the command may have a harder time coping than someone who has a little nursing experience, or background in the military. I would not stress your GPA. Hope that helped some!

congrats! 3 months to Scroll. I think I spoke to the detailer the week after I was selected. My friend spoke to the detailer the next day.

MSN w/ forensic focus..is it worth it?
I think there are jobs out there for you, you just have to seek them out. I have a friend who is an on call SANE nurse. She doesn't work in a specific ER, but works for a major hospital system. Her background was in the OR.

Navy FY18 Direct Assessions
I'm just curious..... has anyone been flat out denied? You can message me if you prefer. I know we all know how grueling this process is. My best guess is 98% of applicant weed themselves out.

Active Duty Navy Direct Accession FY 2017
I think we are all in the same boat. I think 98% of us were told mid January we would have results. It's a cruddy feeling, but it feels good to know we aren't alone..... except I just found out my package was never submitted. So I probably won't know anything until mid March.

Any updates? I don't even know if my package went to the board in December, so I am really on pins and needles.

I am very excited for you. I like your plan, I think it's a good one. I'm going active. My recruiter told me I shouldn't expect results anytime soon. I guess I am technically the Dec 15 board, even though my documents were submitted in November.

Hey!!!! I'm credentialed for Critical Care, and have been in the ICU about a year and a half. I was active duty for 5 years. I'm a little confused. My package was submitted at the end of November, presumably for a December 15th board. Does that sound accurate? I was hoping to commision by 31DEC, but soon figured that would not occur. Do y'all think board results will be out at the end of the month? That would make life sooooo much easier for me. I was expecting results a few days before the January 15th board.

How long after the board meeting did you hear results? How long did it take you to commission after finding out you were accepted? Was anyone waitlisted as a 1960?

TAMU college station spring 2018
I applied for the MSN Forensic Nursing program. I'm not sure I can wait another week or two for results. Has anyone else applied to this program?

Hey Michy, I started my package last August and got credentialed in March. In March I told my recruiter to stop processing my package. In July I went back and told him I was ready. I had to do some things over because I am now submitting for FY 18. I too hope to submit for the November board. Best of luck to you.

Navy nursing
You can go enlisted as a Medic or Corpsman and gain invaluable experience, and then get out and use your GI Bill to pay for college. There is also the option of getting picked up for an enlisted to officer program while being active duty (but all programs are highly competitive and never guaranteed). There is no easy route, no guarantee, and there are several routes to do things. Me, personally, I am prior service where I spent most of my time working as a Corpsman. I gained invaluable experience that made nursing school much easier for me than my peers. Now I am knee deep in reenlisting as an officer. However, I wish I would have listened and utilized an enlisted to officer program while I was active duty.

Have you already been credentialed for Critical Care?

I know how many there are for CC.

Any idea how many ED/trauma spots there are? I'm trying to get credentialed for Critical Care, and may be glad I didn't go the ED route.

You are so right! My husband just finished a recruiting tour, and he keeps telling me that officer recruiters don't have to push us and we have to push them (because like you said, the spot is relatively coveted and not given to anyone). I feel annoying when I check in, but like you said, I'm trying to secure my future. Thanks! I know everything will work out, one way or another.
