  1. I’m a mama of two. Looking for an FNP program that will work with me as far as classes and how many I can take a semester. I need to go at a slow pace. Any recommendations for online programs?
  2. Hello! Does anyone have any insight about the FNP program at NKU. Noticed these posts were in 2018. Hoping someone can provide their experience/opinion about their program as I'm getting ready to apply for it! Any info would be helpful. Is 7 weeks for each course doable? Especially for pharm, patho, assessment?
  3. Hello ? hoping to get some feedback on Jefferson’s pnp program? Do you recommend their program?
  4. Hi fellow nurses, I need some advice. I'm currently in a PNP program in Michigan. My husband relocated for work here. I'm in a slow-paced program that requires a maximum of six years to complete my courses. I debated for a long time whether I wanted to do primary or acute, but for right now I am shooting for primary. As far as work goes, I took a position at a pediatric clinic thinking this would be the best place to gain experience and see what the PNP's do first hand. Problem is, I took a huge pay cut. It's been two weeks and I'm not sure if I made the right choice. I really miss patient care. I mostly do triage. Once in a while I have to cath a patient and that's about it. This job is about forty minutes away to. It's quite a drive. My other option that I turned down was a children's hospital about an hour away. In the PICU. I initially took the clinic position because I thought this would gain more experience as a future PNP. But I really miss patient care. The office job is about 4 1/2 days a week whereas the PICU is 3 days a week day/night rotation. Should I stick it out some more or just not waste my time and see if I can get the position I declined back? UGH. I just want to work at a place that will prepare me in my new future role.
  5. Hi Melissa! How are you liking Rainbow children's currently? I'm looking to take as assignment soon over there.

Hi everyone. I recently took my first contract with AMN. The funny thing is, I never signed anything. I've only 'verbally agreed'. I am now at my travel facility and realized how horrible the hospital is. It's unsafe and I practically float everywhere which was definitely not mentioned in my contract. I finally put my foot down at the hospital because I was being floated to the PICU with really unstable patients. (I'm a floor status nurse). Does anyone know if I'll be penalized/fees for leaving even without signing a contract with them to begin with? Any advice/words would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey All! I really need your opinions! I'm a 26 year old pediatric nurse. I've been at Mott Children's Hospital for the past three years on a medical-surgical unit. It's been a long time goal of mine to try out travel nursing for the past year. Problem is, I have the nervous jitters like crazy! It's not that I'm not confident, it's not knowing what to expect. I've gotten quite the experience here and I've seen a lot of things that generally a lot of nurses probably haven't experienced yet. I know this is probably silly to say but one of my biggest worries are IV starts and blood draws. The hospital I'm currently at is very resourceful and they have their own teams for all of that. I haven't started an IV since nursing school and they won't allow us to because of it! :/ Has anyone else felt nervous/apprehensive about their skills or doubting themselves when they took their first assignment? I'd appreciate your feedback :)

  10. Hi everyone! I'm about to start my first gig in the travel world! I'm quite nervous! EEK. Anyways, Omaha, NE gave me an offer at their children's hospital. Has anyone been there? How do you like it? :)
  11. Hello everyone :-) I'm a Michigan Nursing Student and recenlty I've been applying to several positions online. I've been in contact with a few nurse recruiters and applied for a "PCT position" which requires me to float among their 5 different locations to get the experience necessary. The rate of pay start at 16/hrly, which is wonderful. I would not be held down to one specific unit but actually be able to see it all. But now I am in a tough spot. Today, I just received another interview/position for a Pediatric unit as a "Nurse Tech" which is where I believe I belong after I take my boards and become an RN (knock on wood). The rate of pay is 13.40/hrly. but I would belong to one unit and get the experience I need as well. I'm torn between the two but I'm leaning more towards this position. I've been reading several forums and I don't quite understand the difference between a PCT vs. Nurse Tech. Is the Nurse Tech able to work more under the nurse and provide more hands on experience? I'm not looking so much at the rate of pay although the PCT position would be wonderful to see by the end of the week. I really just want to get the ultimate experience. Help please.
