  1. I am not sure, that you should even think about being a nurse, what do you think that you will be doing as a nurse? please don't waste your time. we don't need more people like you. Nursing is part of taking care of people no matter they be young or old.

I am an ADN nurse in the ER and I am also a travel nurse, have been to at least 10 different facilities over the past 2 years and no one has ever asked if I had a BSN. It never comes up. I have been the charge nurse at several different locations. Unless you want to be administrator or CEO, at some hospitals you can do or be whatever you want. Some rural facilities you can be in management positions, if you are interested. good luck
  3. I am an RN. and I love my PDA and could or would not live without it.
  4. Don't let the comment bother you, I started out in ICU 3 years ago as a new grad. I feel comfortable now, just takes a little while, just be patient. You will do fine.
  5. No Way! 12 hours is enough let alone more hours or another day away from loved ones or some relaxing activity. They get enough of me while I work regular hours
  6. That would be nice, possibly try one of the eating establishments that are reccomended on this site
  7. Thanks for the reply, I will keep it mind, we are printing all of the reccomendations and hope to try them all (I don't know about the sushi though!)Thanks again
  8. Originally it was because it was a Triad Facility of which I am an employee in Tulsa, Ok. However, my wife got a position in CVICU and the position I applied for was taken before I got my app in. So now I am going to go with a travel agency, which is actually going to work out better, since I do not have to worry about getting housing, deposits, etc. We are both looking forward to living in Tucson and having a great time.Good luck in school, although it is a long grind, it is rewarding in the end
  9. I read this thread with interest as my wife and I are relocating to Tucson AZ in July '04. We would like any information that anyone would be kind enough to give, including their favorite places to eat, see a movie, shop etc. thanks in advance for the help
  10. Sounds like you are getting you "stuff" together after a rough start in nursing. When I started I went from an ER tech to an ER Nurse and had to "grow up" fast. I was expected to know most all things about emergency care the moment I came on the floor, and was soon in charge way before I thought I was ready. I was terrified! However, I had some background to fall back on in a critical care area that you do not have the fortune to have. My point being that a critical care area is nerve wracking and intimidating for anyone, much less a new grad. Be sure and ask for all the help you need in your new area, but take responsibility for your own education and pick up a critical care book or two to study/reference. Remember, a nurse is a terrible thing to waste! There is more to nursing than hospitals. Good luck in whatever you do, but keep us posted, we all wish you luck
  11. Sounds like you need to explore another area in nursing or another employer. There are too many other opportunities to quit nursing. You do make a difference to your patients, even if it is not vocalized. Remember, if you were not there to provide excellant, compassionate care, who would? Good luck in whatever you you decide, but another good nurse is too much to lose!
