  1. I recently graduated from ITT, yes I paid A LOT of money. But, the waiting lists at ALL of the local schools were sooo long. I honestly did not feel that the courses were all that difficult. I was concerned about passing NCLEX, but everyone in my class that has sat for NCLEX has passed. Someone had asked if you can transfer credits in, the answer is YES. I had 16 credits transfer in. If you're tired of waiting and dont want to waste the money retaking classes than check ITT out. One thing to keep in mind that noone told me... don't think you will get your Auth to Test from the State right away.... It took about a month and a half to get my ATT, and then all the dates were full for another month. Let me know if you have an specific questions.

  3. I ordered the pink pearl one from the same site you did, I also have my name and one heart before and after my name. I have overheard a resident ask another where he got his stethoscope and his reply was "I was told the nurses always have the best ones, so just borrow theirs and keep it". I knew at that moment that having my name on it would be easier if I ever had to track it down if it ever was borrowed.
  4. If your passion is OB, I would go that route. There is not any amount of money that can replace happiness. That being said, if you are happy where you are... you could always stay. Don't feel like you have to do what your friends do. Only you know what your goals and dreams are.... Good luck with your decision.
  5. I took the CNA course with Red Cross about 6 years ago, it was about $1000 then. I never got certified. I was able to get a job a Beaumont. I now know that Beaumont and other hospitals train you at the hospital. If you apply for the job, and get hired. Its worth saving money and looking into it. I know my floor is in need of SEVERAL Aides.
  6. You can look at Michigan.gov under the LARA section and search for you License number. It took 5 days for mine to post to the site from the day I took the exam.
  7. Some hospitals in the area require that you take and pass NCLEX with in 45-90 days after hire. I know Beaumont requires passing within 45 days, or you will be demoted to Nurse Tech. Keep that in mind when applying, too soon might not be in your best interest. But, if you can get a job as a Tech or Aide you will have an easier time getting a job as an RN. Once you are in a hospital system, you can apply for internal postings. Good Luck
  8. HF West Bloomfield does hire new Grads. I know someone that was offered a job as a New Grad with ADN in the Neuro Garden. :) Good luck to all of those applying.
  9. Hi! I am also a new grad. I have been working at a local hospital for several years. I have had 3 interviews already, one on the floor I work on as a Tech. I am on medical leave because I got hurt and can't interview while on leave. My classmates that don't already work in a Hospital are also having the same difficulties you are. I know that Schoolcraft College is having a job fair today (prob to late for you to attend). I also know ALL of the Detroit Hospitals are hiring. If you work downtown for a year, you will gain so much experience you will be able to move to a hospital closer to you. I would also suggest contacting recruiters at the different hospitals. Good Luck to you!
  10. Wow! That is a tough choice. I would look at the long run... where do you see yourself being "HAPPY"? I personally don't think I would like to have to work EVERY weekend. But, it will also difficult to work nights and then care for your sons without sleep. I think I would go for the nicer people and a wider variety of client care. Good Luck in your decision!
