  1. This may have been posted before but I am just looking for some advice. I am looking into NP programs and I have my BSN now. I originally applied for Acute Adult-Gerontology NP program but after talking to some more experienced nurses I was told to go for Family NP so I will have less limitations in the future. When speaking to the advisor at Drexel she said the FNP program is very competitive and requires at least a year of Med/Surg experience. I worked in pediatric home care for 3 years, special needs school nurse for one year and now I've been working at a dialysis clinic for one year. Her response was not very encouraging so now I am second guessing myself. Any advice I would greatly appreciate because now I am feeling a little lost. Thank you:smug:
  2. I am buying my first Littmann since I was using a Prestige in school and wanted to upgrade. On Medisave.net the site offers free engraving on the bell I am planning on putting my name and RN after it. I see that you can put symbols such as a smiley face, heart, cloud, cross, or even horoscopes. I have never seen these on a stethoscope before. Are these symbols considered unprofessional? I know it doesnt change how you work obviously but I am wondering how others see it. In clinical my instructor commented on my stethoscope being "loud" because it was purple so this made me think of it.
  3. I start training tomorrow and I am nervous. I was just wondering how long until you really felt like you knew what you were doing? I know length of preceptorship and employees have an effect as well. Thanks!
  4. Hi Dspacc, Thank you for the reply but I havent posted enough to be able to private message yet!
  5. It will be extremely hard but so rewarding when you graduate. You will have many moments where you will ask yourself if this is what you really want. But you will also have moments when you make a patient feel better or even smile and realize it is all worth it. Form a study group and be there to motivate each other. Study as much as you can and become bff with coffee! You can do it :)
  6. Hi everyone!Today I went to my first nursing interview! I was so nervous but it was not as bad as pictured in my head. Anyways the job was for Pediatric homecare. I was offered the job and was told to come in next week for two days of training. Then I have a three day preceptorship. I'm very excited but also very scared. The only experience I had was clinical. I've never worked in healthcare. Because I have no exp I really don't have many options. I've applied to nursing homes and haven't gotten a call yet. I'm going to school for my bsn now. Does anyone have any advice for me? I was told i can work up to 60 hours a week if i want the hours and show i am skilled. I saw on a different thread that starting pay is 26 an hour. I don't want to risk my license but this has been the only close thing to a job. Sorry for the rant. Any homecare nurses? :)
  7. Thank you those are all Great ideas! I will Definitely give These suggestions. I'm so excited only two days away :)

Im starting a BSN program in september and just completed the RN program. Thanks I appreciate any suggestions!
