Should I report to DON or State?
Its only right that you report to the charge nurse or your supervisor as the case maybe.....that is outright wrong & risky healthwise....

Brookhvens Vs El-centro ADN.....Questions!
@ Briterz & RN2BDFW.........i appreciate ur responses. Thanx a bunch! Briterz......i noticed the different requirements in my research on the 2 schools especially on the prereqs & HESI tests but i intend to start with the prereqs which they have in common which are SCIT, BIOL, ENGL, & PSYC in one of the schools & go from there. A question plzzz...are u able to keep a F/T or P/T job as a nursing student cos i work f/t as a CNA & p/t in a restaurant ( saving for school). i intend to keep d CNA job as either a f/t or p/t job. Is it possible?? RN2BDFW......thanx for ur insightful advice to cast my net wider. can u recommend other schools .....within the metroplex so ican look into their requirements. Much Luv.

Brookhvens Vs El-centro ADN.....Questions!
Hi there, this question is basically for Dallas nurses or nursing students & its concerning the ADN program. I,ve been looking into the ADN program via DCCD (community colleges) & i noticed that only El-centro & Brookhavens offers the program but most importantly El-centro is 24mths / 71 credit hr while Brookhavens is 16mths / 72 credit hrs!! Naturally i,m paying attention to BH cos of the shorter time period but i have a few questions for those of u that have crossed this path; 1. Since they r both community colleges, why is the difference in time period? 2.Is it possible to try for both of them at the same time just to double my chances ? 3. i intend to start the prereqs.......does it matter where i take them irrespective of which of the schools i end up in? Thiz r the few questions i have.......for now. I intend to go for their respective information session but any info from this forum will be highly appreciated. Much :redpinkhe.

sometimes this job breaks my heart.
Yes i totally agree especially with d visiting issue. Some of them always in constant pain dat no form of painkiller could take care of as in the case of a particular resident of mine who has a severe case of arthritis....she is always crying / screaming in pain but we r helpless cos she cant have painkiller every min...and when she is asked if her legs are hurting again she will tell u dat she doesn,t have legs anymore cos d "blood-suckers" have eaten 'em up.... i tear up whenever she says dat......i cant imagine wat kind of pain she,s in!!! and so many more.

In CNA class...required to take blood pressure of 100 people!!!
@ Poster u r so cute....talking about setting up table @ ur local grocery store but not a bad idea. I had d same assignment when i was taking the class but only on 50 persons & included Pulse , Respiration & Temperature too but we were allowed to test d same person only at different times & under different situations...Hope that helps.

Doctor needs to perform surgery but with charity care, seemed unhappy
I,m sorry about your mum. I was in a similar situation( i mean paying out of pocket) a few months ago but d only difference was that i applied for charity care after i got my bills and after going through them, they were overwhelming & just too much( i had sleepless night over them). So i called d hospital asking for a sort of help or deduction, so i was adviced to apply for d charity care & i did and as luck will have it i got approved and the hospital reduced ....not just reduced but brought to $0 balance! i forwarded the letter to d physicians & labs who attended to me & they also brought my balance to $0! so i ended up paying nothing. I,m sorry u cant do anything about it if u are approved unless u want to get the doctor a Thank you gift in appreciation' nothing wrong in that....i assume. We all find ourselves in situations we cant help at one time or another, so u dont have to be embarrassed. Good Luck in your Application.:loveya:.

How did you get your job?
wow!! U guys above are all so LUCKY & datz d truth. I got certified 3 weeks ago & i,m still filling application via monster, craigslist, walk-ins, websites etc & yet to get a call. I,ve checked & filled applications on most nursing hmes & LTC within 25-30 miles of my home. Most are asking for at least a year experience but i still go ahead and apply........just in case. I,m just pray & hope for a break & wish every other person in my position d best of luck.

Ok, what's the real deal with new grads?
No, ur manner of approach is very wrong.... u think u r smarter than most but wait till u get to that stage. Infact u r worrying about the wrong thing cos u r not yet in nursing school yet.....still taking ur prereqs! This forum serves different purpose for each individual. A LOT of nurses still share their employment success story.....u,v not come across any of them??
-
Watch your manners please..
@ Poster. I just want to say u must have heard wrongly cos it would have been very unlikely to ask if he could go get the "casket" cos its an hospital and not a funeral home! On the other hand, hope ur grandfather is doing much better now.
