  1. That's awesome! Congratulations RN! Thank you for the advice!
  2. I would relax and do all of your favorite things that you have put on hold because you have dedicated yourself to this exam. Have fun right now!
  3. Thanks for your recent post on the old Kaplan post. I'm taking some good advice from it and also from a reply I got from one of my posts: Only I can decided when I'm ready to test, bone up on content and know it, and, don't put too much emphasis on the predictor scores!
  4. Hi Diana ~ How did you do on your exam?! I'm hoping to hear great news. I rescheduled mine in two weeks. I needed a tad more time to do questions and review more content. I'm thinking about you!
  5. Awesome! Happy Thanksgiving to you! (And to everyone!)
  6. Hi Everyone! I know I am probably the only one that can answer this question, but why do I feel like I am having a harder time preparing and feeling prepared for the RN NCLEX then I did for the LPN NCLEX? I passed the LPN NCLEX the first time and felt for sure I failed. I failed the RN NCLEX once and will be taking soon. I'm probably getting the jitters, however, I'm having a hard time overcoming this feeling of never being able to pass this exam because it's something that I want so much. I know I need to have more confidence in myself. I guess I answered my question. Thanks for your feedback and support!
  7. Thank you, Diana! Good luck to you on Wednesday. I will be thinking of you and sending out a prayer for you!
  8. Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I think the wording of my question wasn't clear. Thank you, anyway.
  9. Hello everyone! I'm using Saunders questions now. I'm making up quizzes that are 10 questions each that are analysis, application, and comprehension. I'm taking one after another. My scores are 70% to 100%. I'm taking the exam in a week. I'm burning out on test taking and have been taking the large Kaplan exams as well and scoring in the 60s. I'm not sure if I am ready or not. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks a million!:)
  10. Absolutely! I am doing that as well. I think I am hung up on their emphasis of test scores to pass NCLEX, which is what they seem to stress. Including those like ATI, which is what I had during my program. I am reading up on content as well. I think content emphasis is more important. Thank you for your input.
  11. Hi Everyone! I seem to be stuck in the mode of high 50s to 60s when taking my quizzes and exams through Kaplan! I can't seem to every hit a 70! Any suggestions, comments?! I feel like I will never be ready to take my NCLEX. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback. By-the-way, I have contacted them, and they say I am on the right track, but I'd like to hear from the experience of those that have used Kaplan and any success stories, etc. Thanks so much! Alexandra
  12. Thank you both for the advice. I should clarify that I meant that I took the board exam already, not the Kaplan Review course. I haven't taken Kaplan yet. I'm on the fence now with the Kaplan review and the NCSBN review. (I'm also using the Saunders review book which is great!) I can afford to pay for the Kaplan, but for some reason I'm bugged about spending the $500 on the course. Good point that I would learn the same material with the review books AND good point that if I failed the test I would a regret not having taken the course. I would, indeed, regret that I didn't take the course. I am one of those people that are very hard on themselves. I'm seeking advice on this blog to gain the experience of others. Typically, I'm very good about making decisions on my own. I'm seeking the experience of others at this time. Then I'll weigh my options. Thank you, again, for your thoughts~
  13. I'm still on the fence about taking a course, Kaplan or another, to prep for the NCLEX. I've already taken it once. Any thoughts?
  14. Maju ~ I'm sorry to hear you did not pass. To beat the blues, I'm just going to let them run their course along with this migraine. (I'm wearing sunglasses in my house, it hurts so bad.) To beat the feeling of studying all over again, I'm just going to stick to my current studying pattern. I picked up a few ideas from this site such as memorizing one lab a day (even though I know my labs, I can keep them in my head and not forget them) and doing 75 questions a day working up to 265. I'm also going to study a medication group a day and know those down. I'm going to take my Kaplans course and get the Saunders book. (I have the Davis'. The CD exam with hints were not great, albeit, very confusing. Chucking that book.) I hope you pass this next time coming up! Keep me posted and good luck to you! Caliotter ~ Thank you for the advice. I agree with just dumping out what my brain has in it and starting fresh. That is what I am doing this morning. You're right about stuff I think I already know. I have my med/surg book that I reference for stuff and keeping with the Kaplans and Saunders and that's it. I had too many different types of study guides (about 5 in all!) and approaches and they all got jumbled up! Thank you both! Hope you have a great day! Alex
  15. Hi Everyone! Just took and failed my first NCLEX-RN. (Hopefully my last!) I hope to retake it in September/October. Any idea what near the passing standard means on all content areas?! How near? I feel like I don't have clue and that I over studied. Is that possible? The two days before the exam, when answering questions, I felt as if I didn't get it! (I did great in the RN program and I passed my LPN boards a few years back.) It didn't help that I had a migraine, but I figured I could do it and just over come the discomfort. I am going back to my original plan and taking a four day course with Kaplan. Anyone have experience with the Kaplan classroom course? I plan to take this at least 4 weeks before I take my exam. (That was the only class available.) I hope to take my boards again at the end of September or should I just throw in the towel? Thanks for your responses. I'm feeling bad and still have this migraine! :oAlex
