  1. I've taken all of my classes (Including Chem and A&P) at UCBA. I start my clinicals this fall. The only non-nursing class I still need is Microbiology, which I start net month. Which prof are you registered with for A&P? The science lab is great. They are very helpful there. Happy to answer any other questions you have.
  2. West Chester is a suburb about halfway between Cinti and Dayton. Nice area. Convenient to pretty much anything.
  3. Just for the record...I wasn't directing my "I do feel somewhat insulted by some of the posts that imply that MA's are idiots." comment at anything said in this thread. There have been past threads that have gotten rather insulting towards MA's. I understand the frustration from nurses that worked very hard for their title and I'm sure I will feel the same way when I finally have the title RN after my name! :) My major point was that my school did perpetuate that myth that we would have the same knowledge as a nurse when we graduated. I have never represented myself as a nurse. Even now I keep correcting my father who insists on telling everyone that I am a nursing student. In his mind A&P class = Nursing student. No Dad, there are pre-reqs and a wait list!
  4. I will give my own personal experience (so take that for what it is worth!) I am a former MA currently in school to become an RN. I went through a 2 yr program degree program. "They don't know what they don't know" is EXACTLY right in my opinion. I will justify that by saying that I do feel like I received a very good education for an MA and I do feel somewhat insulted by some of the posts that imply that MA's are idiots. The school I attended told us that MA's are basically nurses that can't give meds so I agree that the schools are major culprits in why MA's feel that way. I had no idea how much I didn't know! I am relatively intelligent and thought I knew enough that I could breeze through nursing school with little effort. I definitely have more knowledge than someone with no medical background, but I am having to work very hard for every "A" I get in school!
  5. Some schools will also let you fill out a form and petition to get a "fresh start". In my case the classes (from 20 years ago) stay on my transcript and count...but don't get figured into my GPA. My advisor told me about it..it is on their website but you almost have to know about it and be looking for it to find it.
  6. If you do need a graphing calculator...check craigslist. I got mine for $40. (over $100 retail)
  7. I totally agree with the person that recommended "The Business of Being Born". I watched it on Netflix also. It was very interesting.
  8. I know someone that swears by them. She says they are definitely ugly, but the most comfortable shoes she owns. She has 2 pairs and wears them anytime she will be walking all day.
  9. I don't know anything about the waiting list at MUM but I have heard it is a good program. I am currently working on my prereqs at Raymond Walters. I was told we have a 2 yr waiting list for the nursing program.
  10. I have Chem this fall as well. I don't start til 9/22.
  11. You can also look for a rescue group for your dog's breed and email the local rep asking if any of the foster homes might be interested in helping out. I am a rescue rep for a dog rescue, and several of my foster homes currently dog sit and/or dog walk for people, and they are cheaper than the local doggy daycares here.
