  1. so I chesked with my manager and director. Turns out there is a policy on floating and I was spot on. If a nurse wants to work as a tech all is good, but if they do not they do not have to. The step down was way wrong in trying to assign me as a tech....I was floated as as nurse period, For all those evil female nurses who had nasty things to say about my stance - you were wrong! so suck it! lalalalalalalala!
  2. So I work pool at a hospital. I worked 8 hrs in the SICU and was floated to a stepdown unit and as I entered the floor the charge nurse told me that she assigned me as a tech. I told her that would not be acceptable. I was hired as a nurse and that is the role I would work. She looked at me as if I had three heads. I again told her if she wanted to use me as a nurse I would be more than happy to help her out but I would never work as a nurse tech. Eventually they found a staff nurse to fille the role and I took her assignment. Has anyone ever refused to work as a tech? Any thoughts?
  3. so what makes a doc so much more special than me? I worked damn hard for my ADn and then my BSn and when I was done with that I decided to become a MSN. Wow as if that was not enough I went back for more abuse and am so very close to my PhD. So wht should a MD be so much more respected than me?
  4. yuppers, time to put on your big girl panties and make decisions for yourself and not your family. Sooner or later we have to leave the nest and decide what is best for ourself.. Once you get to that point you can do anything!!! Good luck>
  5. you're in or you're out. It is an honor to serve and if you cannot make the commitment then take another route. Not everyone is meant to serve.
  6. I totally agree!! Sometimes our brains freeze or we forget or misplace information. I learned a long time just double check if there is the slighest inkling of doubt. Better ask a dumb question (yes some of them are) and avoid a mistake instead of just guessing.
  7. I work as a pool nurse and every so often they attempt to assign me as an aide which I refuse. I was hired as a nurse and my job description says nothing regarding working as an aide, plus I understand that no matter the assignment I would be held accountable legally as an RN.
  8. It is difficult to stay motivated to run when COT is a little under 5 months away. I could not even run a mile a year ago when I began the application process and three months later I was really in a groove and could exceed the PT standards. Now I hit the tread mill once per week. I think I got burned out from over training and now just want to keep a modest fittness level until the timeline gets closer. I think a good 6 weeks leaves more than enough time to tighten up running times and not get too gung ho about the whole thing.
  9. Bound to COT in 11-02. I just realised that I will be in COT fo the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl..UGGHHHHH!!!
