i'm planning to attend an lpn program in jan. i'm looking forward to it, but i have a few doubts. i have no problem working long hours but i am a little nervous about needles, it's funny because blood, etc doesn't really bother me. anyway i was told ...
what have you said when people say why don't you just be an rn? i've been telling friends/family that i am returning to college and should start my lpn program in jan. not everyone, but most always ask. so i feel like i have to explain how i'm not ab...
i have been taking nursing classes for over a year, and had decided to take the fall sem off. well, last week i was refered to a dr that requested a mri and was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma. they aren't sure it could also be a pituitary adenoma. ...
I'm so upset, I'm sorry to rant guys but I can't help it. I'm attending a LPN program. First off we started out our class with 32 people and we were down to 24 last week. So Friday we had a test over pediatrics and 11 people fail (75 and below) so th...
Our class doesn't take the overall grade we have to pass each test with a 75 or above. If we fail one test or miss 8 hours of class (when we are there 40hrs a week) we are out.... We are talking with the dean but I'm not sure it will do any good. I t...
Ours are grading from 1-5 1 and 2 fail 3 passes. The instructor said you would have to go above and beyond to get anything above a 3. So pretty much pass or fail.... Nalini
I personally like what we do at our facility, maybe it would work for you. We have a Bath book for NAs to chart in that has a schedule for every resident's bath. Our facility does baths every other day for each resident unless they request everyday (...
My family always got a real tree while growing up, but I like the pre lit arficial trees. Easy to put up and decorate, don't have to worry about the tree drying out.

First Semester of LPN program 20 credits, which is 2 classes. Summer will be 10 though... I think it would be weird to split up all the classes. I can't wait!! :)
So, I've been applying for a CNA position at a local hospital for a long time. I had my first interview there last week and got a call today to go for another interview next week. This would be great experience and the pay is good for my area. Howeve...

I really think that it is an individuals choice. I don't see myself having a DNR but my husband that is 27 wants to get one and we have had this talk several times. For him it is all about the quality of life he could have after waking up.
I will hopefully have under 5000 when I finish getting my LPN. However, I would still do it if it needed more. Think about how you will pay it back... I don't know salaries for your area, but consider income, interest, and maybe even go fulltime to s...
I would have to say my mother-in-law for calling us a thousand times!!! Grrr :angryfire Do you think I could zap her through the phone? :chuckle and also Anna Nicole Smith she needs some kind of help....
I've never heard of that either, could be they might get stolen or damaged. I'm afraid to wear my wedding ring because it might scratch someone, esp with elderly.
I don't know if there is a way to tell if you are "right for this" before trying it. Maybe try volunteering like llg said, but also ask yourself would you regret not doing this in a few years. Even waiting only a few years to go back to college, I re...
Awesome story there :) I agree with everyone that I think most of this is out of the question, but I don't think the stories about the nurses dating patients much later is a problem. As long as nothing happens while the patient is well.... still a p...
I guess I'm getting nervous, I have the NLN Pre-Entrance test for the LPN program next week. Just wondering what everyone else did to prepare if anything and what do you think helped the most? Also did your school tell you how many students where acc...
Just wanted to say thanks for the replys :) It's encouraging to know that you got the same response. I've even had someone ask, You do know what you will have to do, right? Thanks Nalini
I've just completed my CNA classes and am wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of being in a pool. My understanding is that I can be called in anytime if needed but that I would be able to say no if I wasn't able to come in. Is it possible fo...
Thanks for the info :) I'm hoping this or the 11-7 shift will work, it's been really hard to find a job that will work with my class schedule for the summer.
Well this is for Arkansas but maybe this will help... I would look in the medical classifides of your local newpaper for a CNA program. Here the tuition is $400-$600. It's possible to have a nursing facility sponser you, this is when they pay for yo...
