Mass Bay Fall 2010
Also in Monday's lab, clinical on Thursdays. Whats your work schedule? I joined on that meets on Fridays at the library in school.. I thought they formed one because we live near each other but now the study group is still in framingham? confused! Its hard for me to do the study group because of my son, he's not even 2 years old and his daycare is full on all the days I don't have class. What days are you free? If you can find time I'm gonna try and find people that might want to do a study group that caters to everyones' work/daycare schedules

Need advice on programs
Pegasus, I had the same exact dilemma. I chose massbay because after completing the ADN program, I can do the accelerated ONLINE BSN program at Umass.. 3 semesters! Being online it's quite a relief that there would be no commute and I can access whenever I have time. Hope you made the choice that suits you best!

Mass Bay- anyone know about their "points" system
in regards to credits, most schools are like that. they want to see you're an actual student of theirs and giving them money. i have a great gpa, all my courses done but didnt get into the BSN program at UMB. you have to pass the intial pool and then youre application is examined.. which i got into the pool. but no admission which sucks cause i really want that instead of massbay. BUT they do offer the RN to BSN at umb.. and i'll get another full tuition ride hopefully!

Microbiology Course
I semi-agree with the Mass bay nursing professors..Chem professor was my favorite.. My A&P I prof was EXCELLENT! But A&P II, she was horrible. Our lab was just an extension of lecture.. ALL POWER POINTS. We did no labs whatsoever. I honestly learned NOTHING in that class and the only reason I passed were the online quizzes brought my grade up. Micro class.. my teacher was SUPER intelligent but to the point where he taught at HIS level.. he expected us to know things that were out of our educational level and didn't explain things very well. He was a good man but very hard as a teacher. I agre 100% that the school isnt what makes the classes decent it's if you get the right professor. But all my other teachers I thought weere great.. English, Math, Psych, Spanish, Humanities courses.. I'd take every class again from the same teach except Micro and A&P II.

Mass Bay Fall 2010
Reading this a little late... but they're looking for how many credits you have at Mass bay. You can have a perfect GPA and have all your classes done, but if they're not from MASS BAY you most likely won't get in. They give priority to their students first. I'd say you need more than a 3.0.. and obviously all your pre reqs done by the beginning of the program. micro is not a pre-req.. it's a co-req but to be quite honest i HIGHLY suggest getting in as many co-reqs as possible. I have completed all my co-reqs so that I can concentrate solely on Nursing. They don't tell you where clinicals are until you start.. they begin in the 3rd week. Although I have heard some people getting their letters for clinical in the summer. From the current nursing students I've talked to.. a lot of people don't pass the first year OR they drop out. I'm scared because I have a 1 and half year old child that needs constant attention so I end up doing my HW at night.. sometimes til 3 in the am Keep your grades up, get as many credits as possible and stay positive!! Anyone on here accepted? What days are you taking lab and or clinicals.. and did you start a study group??

MassBay Acceptance Fall 2010...anyone else?
]Good for you! How longs the LPN program??? As for background information, I have a 3.3 GPA.. and I did all my pre-req's and co-reqs (finishing up 2nd math course and thats the last!) so I can enter the program completely free! The program is 3 days a week, 1 day is a clinical and you have lab once a week and lecture 2 times.. so it's a HUGE commitment! I would highly suggest getting as many pre and co-reqs done as possible before entering the program! My GPA in school was roughly the same as it is now but I've been out of high school since 2004 so it didnt matter. But you really reallly really REALLY need credits from Mass Bay if you want to get into the ADN program- but thats the same for every nursing school really, unless fresh outta high school. I have my medical assistant diploma and have worked in 3 different hospitals but that wasn't any part of my acceptance- they didn't even ask! So keep your grades up and you'll be all set- especially now you're taking the LPN program, you will be a shoe in if you keep your grades above a B-. AND starting for all new acceptances your sciences courses have to be completed with a 77 (C+) or higher.. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate, I'm happy to help!

Umass Boston MSN?
I applied to the bachelors program but didn't get in unfortunately (have no credits at Umass)! I'm starting as MBCC in the fall and after I'm done, I wanted to get my bachelors online and then do my masters all at UMass. How competitive are both online RN to BSN and the masters program? Thanks guys!

Massbay MBCC Jan. 2010
While googling, I found this thread. I am starting the Day program in September (yay!) but had a friend who went to the info session and.. She said that the EVENING PROGRAM starting January '11 is no longer running- is this true? If it is that is really messed up no one was given a warning. I almost applied to the night program but had a change of mind and did the DAY- thank God, right? If someone knows if this is true I'd like to hear from them!
