  1. My relative is a manager with Pearson. She said that there really is no need to do that. If you pass, then the computers give you a board of license number so you can actually check your state board of nursing and you will see you have a number for the license.
  2. Hi! Well when I went to the specialist, they said that they could not find anything on the level two. Kidneys were normal and the measurement on the back of the neck was 4 compared to the first ultrasound where the thickness was 5.3 and the kidneys were enlarged. They said that they would just put me at normal risk but I had the amnio anyways, mainly for my husband because I know that having two different outcomes was kind of frustrating for him. I am sure everything is fine, but the peace of mind will be nice & if it did come back abnormal, at least I could start my research and etc. Anyways, thank you very much! I appreciate all of your help and information!

  4. Thank you all very much! I had no idea what to do because nobody would tell me anything and I am just so confused! They made my appointment for this friday the 10th. I will have a level two ultrasound first, followed by genetic counseling and then they have an amnio scheduled if needed. Thanks again everyone!
  5. I hope I have it right...I just had my ultrasound at 20w4d and they told me that there is a possibility my baby has downs syndrome. I have to have an amniocentisis...could there be another reason for this? They said there was a thickness of the back of the head/neck and the kidneys. They wouldn't tell me anymore and want me to wait until I see the specialist. I am just looking for any inofrmation b/c I am confused and do not understand what is going on!
  6. This makes me feel old at 24 b/c I only buy watches with second hands!
  7. Thanks for your reply! I am sorry I didn't see it sooner, it didn't notify me like it normally does. I'll have to let you know next year now. When they found out I was pregnant, they "asked" me not come. I live in Mannsville, but chose the Oswego County program over the Jeff. County one because I have not heard any good things about the program in Jeff. Cnty. Thanks again!
  8. You know, I completely understand where you are coming from. I have majored in everything out there just trying to find what fit me. There is so much out there to choose from and yet in the back of our minds we know we need to make a living, have security...etc. I also care about where I go to school. I like to go where I am going to be challenged intellectually and pushed to do my best. I really wish you the best of luck in your process of deciding what to do. It is so frustrating!! The health care field is huge and somewhere in there will be something you love. Who knows...your path may not even take you to health care. Five years from now you may end up somewhere different. Either way, it will all work out. But listen to your gut! I knew a few years ago that I wanted to be a RN, but I ignored it for a year...then my SIL went for her LPN and I didn't want to go the same time as her..then I finally decided to go for my LPN but recently that door closed and you know what...I am now studying biology and will be starting my RN June of '05. It may of taken me 4 years to get here, but it did even though the whole way I was so upset because I felt like I was getting nowhere. Maybe I should of just gone for the RN from the start, but I have grown a lot on my way to this point. I know that this is what I really want, I know what to expect and I am ready. All I am trying to say is that it will work out! Good luck!
  9. That is true. I apologize to the op. We need to set a good example. What kind of impression are we giving of the nursing profession if we act like this.
  10. i just think that maybe you should stick with med school or go work in a lab, research...whatever...
  11. leslie, suzy 253 & marie-thank you
  12. I am going to be driving about 40 minutes to school and around a hour or so to each of my clinical sites. I am in school 5 days a week and I live in Upstate NY where the weather changes every five minutes and snow falls by the foot. The weather alone between November and April will turn my one hour drive into two somedays...but I do it because I want to go to this school and I want to be a nurse. It is only for a short time period and I am not sure where you live. My only question is you mentioned driving two days a week for class-that is a great idea in my opinion but don't forget you have to have clinicals also..will they be on different days? If you have the ambition then go for it! Maybe when you get there you may find someone from where you are (since it is the closest nursing school) and you can commute together. Good luck!
  13. I was asked also. I was also informed how "time consuming" the program would be and do I have "back-up" for my child since I will be so busy? They can think all they want that school comes before my daughter but I am sorry to tell them that it will never be that way. Not in school, not as a nurse...ever. She is number one! But I was told that my school asked because if you did then they would ask you other questions (child care, colds, support from others) to see if you have put thought into how time consuming and hard this is going to be and if you are prepared. Some people start and then realize they are not going to have a lot of time with family and are out in the first few weeks. Of course the school doesn't want a high drop out rate and they also don't want to give up a spot that someone who is ready to do this might have.
  14. Thank you all for your posts to my question. It helps to reinforce what I kind of knew but was not admitting to myself. When I applied to the LPN program I knew it was what I wanted yet now that I am in-all of sudden all these other professions sound so wonderful even though I know they are not what I want. Once again, my cold feet are setting in. Cold feet that I won't like it, won't make it and the biggest one is leaving my daughter 5 days a week when I have never left her once in this past year. Thanks again for helping me realize that LPN is what I really want and need right now!!!!
  15. Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing!
