Whiteville NC/Columbus Co. Hospital
Dhogan -- you were RIGHT! That place was a NIGHTMARE! If I am ever traveling through that area, and need medical assistance, I will be taken to the nearest veternarian's office, or across the state line!!! DON'T GO TO COLUMBUS REGIONAL (NC) if you value your license!!!

What is the nurse to patient ratio in your facility?
Craven Regional Medical Center (CRMC) New Bern, NC Med/Surg is 5:1 Day Shift but it's going to 7:1, and there's no saying more can't happen. Carteret General Hospital (CGH) Morehead City, NC Med/Surg is 8:1 Day Shift Lenoir Memorial Hospital (LMH) Kinston, NC Med/Surg is 9:1 Day Shift

Nurse and Police Officer
My husband is a police officer, and I am a nurse just getting ready to travel. He doesn't have a problem with me traveling -- nor the money. We want to adopt, want to build a new house, he wants a new boat...you see where this is going. We've switched off schooling and now we desire things. We've been together for a very long time, we're established, we don't see each other for quality time, anyways, on days we work, so, he's ok with it. I think it's just a decision you both need to make. I plan on staying in the surrounding states so that I can come home on my days off. It works for us. He is very involved with additional duties with the PD (SWAT Team Leader), so, he keeps busy as well. Our days off will be that much more appreciated and fun! He would never leave his tenor with his present PD to travel with me. And he loves the job too much to retire all together and travel with me. You have to think of yourself as a 'traveling salesman' persay. You can always test it out and travel regionally or statewide, first. Anyways, I hate the word impossible, but, I think it fits here. Law enforcement just isn't set up like that. Good luck with your decision.

Polycyctic Ovary Syndrome & Clomid
I have finally been referred to an endocrine specialist for PCOD (it's now classified as a disease) and to begin Glucaphage. I go on Wednesday. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Finally, maybe I will get answers and results. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one in my profession experiencing it! I feel so naive, being in nursing and not really being educated thoroughly about it. I do know that I desparately want to have children, and hopefully will get to live that dream sooner than later! Glad to have support on the board!

TV in the ED
We have televisions in the pt's rooms (ED/Trauma Center). It reduces anxiety and complaints about how much time we're taking. I think it's awesome, personally.

Orange County NY Nurses
Being originally from the area, and previously working in Newburgh (St.Luke's), I wouldn't work there -- solely because of the extremely high crime rate and likelihood that the crime could hit you!
