  1. Yes any pointers please.
  2. Where are you currently? Omg we need to hook up. Like you I'm also L&D and 3 years in and been having a burninh desire to relocate to Thailand even if it's temporary. Please let me know what you have found out.
  3. Baseline 120, 115, lowest 110, category 1 tracing...moderate to minimal variabilty with accelerations Then for less then a 5 minute period baseline runs 105. what are some interventions I could have done? I know it was only for a 5 minute period but fhr variability did dip to the 100s no decelerations though. Had the strip continue like this with a low baseline how long can I really allow this strip to go on like this? I know for tachycardia... As along as fht still has variability and accelerations, you can let the strip go on for awhile...perhaps give some 02 but what about in the case of low baseline?
  4. I don't know how long I'll be able to do nights, 8hrs shifts, 72 hrs a pay period. I just started on nights finally after being trained but looking in at long term, I honestly don't know how long I'll last and be able to stick with this life style. It kinda sucks. I hate to complain but what to do? I already put in a request to be considered for another shift but very unlikely that there will be an open position. What if I can't stick it out? Is worth it to just look into another hospital in the area that does 12 hour shifts?? I've done 12 hour shifts nights in the past and seem to be able to tolerate that more...
  5. I'm having a hard time telling the difference between the two.... What's the secret?
  6. I am on section 3 right now and it's my 3rd time taking it... argh! I hope it's only this section that is the killer
  7. I remember the last NRP test I had to take was a written test and it was much easier! I'm doing the online test right now and I only got to part 3 of part 12 and I failed already. Had to repay the $23 and start all over. any advice tips? I don't want to have to do that again... err.
  8. Interesting, I've maxed at 20 mU/min and have had to turn off pit and restart at a later time.
  9. Is $23/hr considered good pay in Texas?
  10. Please include the state you're from. CA - max dose 20 mU/min
  11. How do I convince my unit to allow more laboring down? Where can i find the latest evidence base article?
  12. Read somewhere that pushing with your patients and counting to ten is ancient. What's the new way?
  13. I do see the lambda pattern....Majority of the responses say variable.... hmm?
  14. I have a difficult time seeing subtle variables and late variables. I'm talking about very subtle ones that look like varibility ..... knowing this, it makes me worry. Suggestions?
  15. The documentary, The Business of Being Born, really inspired me and was an eye opening experience, as well as to hear other views.
  16. I've used Centricity and Cerne before and I really like it. However at my new place we use SXA...anyone uses that as well?
  17. Massage envy member. :) on days off, treat yourself, you deserve it.
  18. I worked both shifts and they are different. 8 hour shifts go by so quick but I feel like I work all the time and I really miss my days off.
  19. There are days when I walk out the door so proud of what I do, and days like today I come out completely exhausted ...I've been running like a chicken with its head cut off from the moment I got report to the very moment I gave report. I also had to stay 1.5 hrs behind to catch up with charting. Sometimes I wish the pace wasnt so fast. Moments where my heart isn't racing either. :-)
  20. Don't worry about that. Im a L&D RN, and I have no kids. :) It makes no difference. You don't have to have gone through cancer to be a good oconology nurse
  21. Outcome? Wasn't my patient, this strip was taken from a course online on health stream.
  22. I was an NA for a mother baby unit when I was still in nursing school. I was per diem and worked 8 hour shifts on nights. My responsibilities included vitals including post op of c_sections, I&Os, making sure ice pitchers were filled, baby baths, helping and setting up showers, assisting patients with ambulating, making dads beds, respite care of newborns, baby foot prints, security photos as well as baby photos, restocking and cleaning cribs, passing out warmed muffins to moms in the early morning. ....
  23. Interventions???
  24. Thanks, I do see that other subtle variable at 10:35. At this point, what would your interventions be??
  25. I don't know but I'd say it would be a good idea to even call HR or the manager and even talk about the position. Say you're interested, and wanted to know more before you apply. :) Let us know what you find out, I'd like to know myself.
