  1. FeatherzRN can you tell me what order you took you classes and/or any recommendations you have for the order you would recommend taking them?
  2. I have to take is as well. They're also making me take the adult and child psych class even though when I took it for my associates it was two separate classes and now it's one. I think it's a waste of time
  3. I've decided to start WGU instead Much better program and very affordable. I'm starting February. I was hoping to start in January but they said it had to be February. You should look into it.
  4. If you don't sign up to do RN to MSN and just do RN to BSN you will have to wait six months after getting your BSN to start the MSN. If you start the RN to MSN and decide to just do the BSN then they can change it.
  5. Would you say most classes are proctored or more of them are project based? I think I would get nervous with the proctored based classes. I get nervous! lol. Each class has a pre-assessment? Can you take those pre-assessments more than once? I appreciate all your help
  6. featherzRN Not sure if this was answered or not but I'm a little confused about the proctored part. Does every class have that? Is it only at the end of the class? Are the quizzes proctored? What does each class typically involve? Thanks
  7. Thanks. Makes lots of sense. I just need to decide. They both have + and - . There is also the financial aspect. I can get enough loans to cover GCU but do I want to add that to the already large educations loans I currently have? With WGU I will be paying 1/3 the cost at the end and that is a plus. I just need to decide:unsure:
  8. So I was all set to start Monday GCU but I decided to hold on because I started. I looked into WGU and it seemed impressive. Downfall is that I can't start it I was told till February and I didn't want to wait that long. At GCU it looks like I will need less classes than I will with WGU. With WGU, from what I can tell, I will need more.(although official transcript has not been evaluated yet)I like the that at WGU you don't have to do discussion questions and have to rely on others for your grade or post a certain amount of times and what not. They also have proctored webcam for test which might be a pain. The great thing is that I can advance at a faster pace then I could with GCU. Not sure if I would be able to or not but it's an option. GCU have been great with communication without a doubt. Then of course there is the money to it. GCU is almost double the cost. Once minute I cant to do GCU then the next I want WGU. Has anyone struggled with the same? How did you make your final decision. I also know a couple of people who went through GCU and absolutely loved it. (mother and daughter took it at different time) From what I was told is that the program is better now than it was a couple of years ago when the mom took it. She thinks that her daughter got lucky and finds it much easier I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks
  9. I passed everything :)
  10. I just did it. Not too bad. Now I'm just waiting for the results. I was told that I wouldn't be able to start until February. I was really hoping to start January. Is that the norm? I thought as long as everything was in and done by the 22nd I would be able to start the following month. Anyone know? Thanks
  11. ok thanks :) I'm about to start it! Wish me luck! lol
  12. So I have to write and admission essay and I haven't written one in years. Any tips? Does anyone know what the essay is to be on or are they all different? If I knew what it was I could work on it but I have to log on and see what it is and do it right then and there. write it on there and post it within 2 hours. Are they looking for it to be in APA format?
  13. Those currently enrolled how are those proctored exams? Do you have one for each class? Do some just do papers and quizzes that are not proctored? Just wondering how much of a pain it will be to set up a time to schedule it. I'll do it at home with the webcam. Wish we could use some of our books but you can't have anything around you when you're doing it
  14. I had my fee waived by the advisor today :)
  15. I'm suppose to be starting GCU on Monday. Im really debating on WGU though. I like the fact that you don't have to post discussion questions twice a week and submit paper by Sunday. I'm thinking about telling GCU to hold off for now until I look into WGU further. How does the proctoring work? I've love to hear individual experiences. I like the fact that with WGU I can move ahead as fast as I can not have to wait 5 weeks. I want to get the work done ASAP and post/submit it as soon as I can. I work nights,(rotating) so I think this will be better for my schedule. I just hate to have to pay the 65$ and wait to get everything evaluated. I ordered my transcripts to be sent and added the school to my FAFSA so I hope that will speed things up. I'm talking to someone tomorrow at 9am about it. My goal is to get my BSN in 6 months if I go with WGU
  16. I plan on doing the same. I'm going to work ahead as much as I can and post them when scheduled. That break will be good to catch up with all this adjusting to new schedule of now having to do school work. My son us having shoulder surgery on the 17th as well
  17. Thanks everyone. I'm still looking for people who are starting with me. Starting a FB page is a good idea Flames9_RN. We have some things in common. Lol. I was raised in Canada. My husband is from Managua. Lol.
  18. I think they are pretty new to the online thing if I'm not mistaken. I looked in to them previously as well. Just be careful because from what I've noticed is that the cheaper programs have to you other classes you don't need with others and it wracks up your cost. They also don't figure in the cost of books either. Just like UTA doesn't.
  19. I'm taking the plunge! I start GCU December 9th. I'm scared but looking forward to it. I hope I like the setup and GCU. I was told that if I took one class and if I decided it wasn't for me then I could switch to another college. Any tips from anyone already taking classes through GCU? Anyone else starting December 9th?
  20. I just applied and sent everything they requested over. I hope to hear back soon. I currently work in a small hospital doing three 12 hours shifts. I've been trying to get into a larger hospital but have found all of them now in my area are requiring a BSN. They all seems to be trying to get Magnet status. I wasn't planning on getting my BSN as I was content with my associates but here I go. Going for my BSN. I would appreciate others input on this school. How do you like the classes? The testing and how the classes are set up online? Is the lectures just reading or is there video lectures? How are the exams? timed or untimed? Just curious. I haven't taken an online class in a long time. Do you have to do group projects or is individual assignments? I hope they are a good school to get my BSN. Their cost is less than any other I've seen so I hope it's good. I wanted to go to school locally but I wouldn't be able to start till the fall of 2014 and it would take 2-3 years to complete. I didn't want to take that long. :)
  21. Dreaming4acute87. Thanks. I did see that site. I've actually ordered the cherokee on off of eBay and love it. I've ordered more on a scrub site but they are on backorder. Love they way cherokee fit. I did feel kind of attacked but I guess I must be use to it. People are always trying to tell you their opinion of wearing just skirts. Unless you know the reason and meaning of it no one understands. Wearing skirts have never been a hindrance or unpractical in anyway. I don't judge people who just wear pants.
  22. Thanks everyone.
  23. I wear them for religious beliefs. Just wish they weren't so hard to find.
  24. Hi. I'm having a hard time finding good scrub skirts. Seems I can only get them online around here. That's hard because if you don't like it you have to pay to return it and it's costing me money in the long run. I like the slimmer skirts (pencil) and they have to go below the knees. I'm short so what tends to be made to go just below the knees goes much lower on me which I can deal with. Anyone recommend a certain brand? Style? Also, having a hard time with nursing shoes. Dansko hurt my feel. Anyone recommend a comfortable brand, style for those? ( I also have flat feet as well). I don't like the way sneakers look with a skirt so I need something that goes better with scrub skirts. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
  25. Is 42 cents a mile good for mileage?
