St. Joseph Hospital Eureka, CA new grad residency 2016
Hey guys! I also got a call for an interview at St Josephs. So excited to find this thread. I have been trying to find more info. Where are you guys coming from? I just got a call for an interview at St Josephs Hospital in Eureka. I am wondering if any of you also got a call and or have any information about the interview process. I am not local to the area so my resources to prepare are limited. All I found is something on google that said it would be a panel style interview with nurse managers from several department. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Samuel Merritt ELMSN/FNP Fall 2013 Sacramento
Hi AxiLong, You were nice to reply to me awhile back, and if I remember correctly you got accepted to SMU, right? I have a question. I am going to take the TEAS in a couple of weeks, and I am wondering how long I need to wait in between to take it again. I hear different schools have different policies? Thanks so much!

Hi legalnurse 2 b and everyone...I'm wondering which hospital you are volunteering at, and or if you can recommend good places to volunteer in the East Bay or SF. I am particularly interested in Women and childrens health, L and D, and palliative care. Thank you!

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2013

Samuel Merritt University Nursing Success! Seminar
Hi everyone, I am in the process of preparing for application to the ABSN and ELMSN program. I would really like to volunteer my time, preferably in Berkeley or Oakland. I have looked at a lot of clinics, mostly in SF, based on what my advisor told me. HOwever, my heart belongs in Oakland, and I want to go to SMU...So my question is, which hospital is a good one to apply to? The thing I have learned in the last couple of months is that applying can be time consuming, so I'm really trying to narrow it down. Thanks in advance for your advice and tips!

Samuel Merritt University Nursing Success! Seminar
Hey elegant...I saw your PM, but can't respond because I haven't done 15 posts yet! Grrr...;-) email me at [email protected] In the meantime..I would be grateful to get some opinions from people who have been through the SMU process. Firstly, if I have a stats class that's really old, how much do you think it really matters. Admissions says it doesn't matter, but I would hate to have that be the one thing. None of my other core classes are old. Could I make note of taking a refresher if I decide to? Or are there statistics classes offered mostly online in the Bay Area? The only two classes I have not taken is patho and pharmacology, and I know that it's "preferred" that I take them beforehand. A load of that with stats would be too much, with what I have going on, so I am trying to get some advice to make the best of my time this summer. I am applying for Summer 2014. Lastly, I am looking to volunteer my time somewhere..I am really interested in Women and Children's health, labor and delivery etc. I have looked into working at clinics, but they seem more impacted with smaller staffs and fewer depts where they can put me. My heart belongs to Oakland, and Berkeley but I'm open to helping out on the Orinda side of the tunnel or SF. Thanks!

2013 UCSF MEPN Applicants
Hi Sarahcee, I saw that you are online, and thought you might have some info about the informational sessions at UCSF. Im a future hopeful, but just learned about the informational session today. Do you think it's a bad thing to RSVP on the same day? Thank you!

2013 UCSF MEPN Applicants
I am a 2014, UCSF hopeful, and just learned of the information session that is tonight. I know that they are monthly, but I keep hearing how helpful they are so I'm eager to go. Do you think they will bat an eye if I RSVP last minute? If so, I can wait..but I think I should go if you don't think it matters.

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2012
Hello all.. I know that this is an old thread, but I wanted to ask where people that live in the SF East Bay area volunteered. I will be applying for the ABSN program at Samuel Merritt(2014) start and also to UCSF Direct Entry Masters Program. I so not have any "work" experience in this field, but my prior degree is in Psychology with a child Development focus. I have completed all of my pre-nursing reqs with a 3.85 GPA, and am especially interested in Pediatrics, NICU, Oncology, and potentially being an FNP. I have put volunteer apps in at La Clinica, Highland, Planned Parenthood; and I almost have the health clearance stuff together to apply to Children's Hospital Oakland(the one that I would most like to be at). I live in Moraga, and ideally would like to get placed somewhere on my side of the tunnel so that I could spend more time volunteering and less commuting (I have several little ones and limited time). So I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for other places; in Oakland, berkeley, or my side of the tunnel. Thanks!

Samuel Merritt ABSN Fall 2012
hello, I will be completing Micro this semester, which will be the last class I need before I can apply to Sam merritt ABSN program(I already have a degree in another field). I am concerned about how competitive it is, and was also thinking of applying for the BSN program. Does anyone know the difference in tuition? Also, I live in the SF Bay area and am interested in other BSN programs accelerated or not as well as Masters Programs. It seems like the biggest difference between Sam merritt and cheaper state schools is the O Chem requirement? I guess I'm just a little overwhelmed by all of the options. Schools thats "once had a program" and now do not. In addition to all GE classes I have taken nutrition, A & P Part A & B, Chemistry(Inorganic) Interpersonal Communications. This semester I will be taking micro. Thank you for any and all feedback about Bay Area programs!

Class suggestion as filler with Chemistry?
That you Elle..I have taken all of those except for medical terminology. It sounds interesting and would probably be helpful( for understanding in other classes:), but it would probably be too much of an undertaking with what I'm already taking and having 3 kids. I really appreciate your reply. Thanks!

Class suggestion as filler with Chemistry?
Hi everyone, I am a mom of three pursuing nursing; my second degree. I recently read that some of the Bay Area schools require that you have taken a total of 9 units in one semester, in the last two years. I was always a full time student before kids, but I haven't done this yet with this degree. Life is a little hectic because my kids are very young. Once I am ready for nursing school they will be that much older. Anyway I am already registered for 7 units; so I am looking for a filler type of class that will satisfy this requirement. I expect Chemistry to be really challenging for me, so I don't want to take something else that is super time consuming. Plus, I have fufilled most of my GE requirements, because of my 1st degree. Also I live in the SF Bay Area and am attending Merritt and DVC. Thanks! Thank you for reading. I realize my post is a bit "involved", but I am new to the forum and appreciate the advice. Thanks!
