University of San Francisco Fall 2012
Cost of living in San Francisco will vary greatly depending on where you are willing to live. A place in the Tenderloin (for the street smart person) will be relatively cheaper compared to other areas. I think Panhandle is the closest neighborhood and studios are $1000+ and 1 bedrooms respectively more. There are also in-law rentals that are a pretty good deal, but usually don't come with a full kitchen or there are share premises. Your best bet is to just go to http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/apa/ and check out the different neighborhoods. If you find a place you like, look up the address and see how far it is from USF. Of course, there are other alternatives to Craig's List, but at least this way you will be able to know which neighborhoods are best for you. If you're willing to take the muni, check out Inner-Richmond and the Sunset districts. Good luck!

University of San Francisco Fall 2012
Since I never received an acceptance email I pretty much knew I wasn't going to get in, but it was nice to finally receive my denial letter to USF. Some CLOSURE! Haha It was nice getting to know some of you on a more personal level and with that said, I hope you can keep me updated on all your hard work and progress! For everyone who got accepted, congratulations and I wish you all a successful academic career as a nursing student. For those of you who did not get in, all it means is that we have to work harder and make ourselves more competitive. Don't give up and keep fighting the good fight. Wish everyone the best. :)

Congratulations to everyone who received good news! Has anyone who doesn't reside in the Bay Area received any news yet? Good or bad? I'm dying over here north of Sacramento. AH! Hahaha, once again, congratulations to everyone got accepted. Good luck with your other/future applications to anyone reading this that didn't get in.

So it seems we should start receiving letters during the next couple of weeks. Good luck to everyone! If USF is your first choice, I hope you get accepted. Stay dry (if it's raining in your area)!

Congrats Sunshyne! This is actually my first attempt at applying to nursing school. This time around I only applied to USF. If I don't get in for Fall 2012, I plan on applying to a number of CSU schools. If you don't mind me asking, what school did you get into?

i also got a reply regarding acceptance/denial letters and status boxes. it's similar information kayla2012 has posted, but thought i'd post it anyways: "the status boxes simply let you know whether or not we've received the document(s) specified. according to our records, we have received your application (including your essay), transcript from ____, and a letter of recommendation from _____. we are sending out the transfer nursing decisions letters over the next 2 weeks. all decisions (admit letters and denial letters) are mailed only."[color=#888888]

Looks like it so far! Hey Sunshyne! I sent an email to the admission office and Kayla2012 had given me an email to ask the question as well, so hopefully I will get a response soon to update everyone! :)

Awesome! I will definitely message you when the time comes. :) Thank you! And this time around, I only applied to USF. I missed the deadlines to Dominican, SFSU, and didn't have enough time (or I didn't prepare enough time) to take the TEAS exam to SJSU. And I will let you know when USF responds regarding the status boxes. :)

Yeah! Mine are blank, so I'm not really sure what that means. I sent them an email regarding the boxes to get some clarification, but haven't received a response due to it being the weekend. Hopefully, I'll get a reply this week! I hope you get in too! That's pretty awesome that you live in the area already. It's going to be troublesome to relocate if I get in. :)

First and foremost, glad to see some new faces in this thread! I hope everyone receives good news this month! It's pretty exciting to hear that last year, people heard around March 11 Kayla. Thanks for sharing that with us! I've always wondered though why it would be too troublesome to send rejection emails around the same time they send acceptance emails. I would think sending a rejecting email would be a lot easier and quicker than a letter, but maybe it is because it is more 'personalized' when it is a snail-mail letter. Anyways, once again, I wish everyone good luck. Is everyone from around the area? Also, I was wondering, does anyone know what the "Status" box is for next to our "College Transcript" and "Letter of Recommendation" in the "Application Status/Summary" page of the website?

Sorry for the late reply! And yes, I had the same issue, but they said it takes up to three weeks for that page to be updated upon receiving the paperwork. My page was finally updated today after being received on January 18th. Good luck to you as well!!

Low GPA, wish to get into a nursing school in California
First and foremost, welcome to the AllNurses Community. :) I really don't have any suggestions myself since I am pretty much in the same boat you are. However, I am done with all my per-requisites and currently waiting to hear back from USF. However, I believe you can find out your GPA between the two schools by taking your GPA from your first school and multiply it by the number of credits you took there. Do the same for the second school. Divide this number by the total number of credits taken at both schools. Good luck this semester! Microbiology shouldn't be too bad, but Sociology can tend to require a lot of reading and Statistics can be a bit tedious. Have you retaken Anatomy yet? Also, I think it's important to know that if you didn't have a C in your science courses (Introduction to Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology) that you are required to get a B your second time around. I remember reading that no the website, but I can't seem to find it now.
