  1. You have to continue.. I failed block 3 and told myself I don't want to do it again, then I was offered a spot - I took it with open arms. I finished that Block with "A". Now, I'm scared to death going in Blk 4..Finish it!!!
  2. Im a LPN, I never offer the information that I am.. But good nurses figure it out - that you stand out from the others. I go to each clinical/lecture with a goal -- to learn and get that two letters behind my name "RN"
  3. Electrolyte imbalance r/t hypokalemia and hypocalcemia- potassium and calcium will kill your patient first-may be why he/she is having seizure. So I would go with correcting that, then hopefully stops seizure, when you start your care plan-you will see that seizure precaution is included when caring for patient with hypocalcemia and hypokalemia; Risk for injury should cover fall (although falls is overrated per my instructors); Skin integrity may not be an issue for a 55 years old-depending on their level care- How about risk for deficient fluid r/t Cdiff
  4. Just a thought: Risk for infection related to (improper hygiene, improper toileting, catheterization, chronically alkaline urine, urinary retention)- why is your patient at risk, why do you think your patient get UTI based on history..like elderly-hygiene, toileting pattern, leaving soiled briefs for a long time OR is it a chronic incidence d/t anatomical kidney problems.
  5. I was just offered a spot for the 2015 Block3 Summer Cohort at SCC...LPN to RN..don't know what to expect.
  6. I have to say its pretty basic, not difficult but I kind a study for a week before taking it...and do a lot of nclex questions...good luck

First of all congratulations on getting a job:nurse: This is my opinion: I love nursing, this is why I change gear towards this noble profession. I am currently working as a Tech, I recently graduate/lic LPN last May 2012. I've been looking for a nurse job that will provide a decent benefits (health insurance). Got few offers, but unfortunately benefits is horrible and have to turn it down. I decided to stay at this hospital (been here for 3 yrs) so may be I can get a job once I become an RN. I would love to be a couplet care Nurse, but I know that they will never hire a new grad unless you already work there (as a TEch?).. Just try to enjoy that first job, you might end up loving it and never leave. There's a lot of things to learn in this profession, try to enjoy every minute of it.. One of my co worker waited 4 years before she got transfer to the OB floor..It's a competitive unit: NOBODY leaves until retirement, promotion or relocation. They want experienced Nurses caring for those new born and moms... Your very lucky to get that first job (hospital)...couple of people I worked with, got their RN Lic last Dec, and still working as a Tech...
  8. your scope will include skills that the facility train and allows an LPN to do. If they certified you to perform it, then you must be competent to do that skill?
  9. its the same here in Arizona, its difficult to get a job as a nurse unless your allready working in a facility where there's an opening...Where do you live? may be I should move there to start using my nursing skills into practice...
  10. Thank you, didnt get the job at the jail, it was a group interview and 4 other people have many years of experience...I am to the point of giving up and just focus on working as a tech while getting my RN...but Its kind of scary to think that once I get my RN Lic, job will be available either!!!!!!
  11. This is the day to go to jail FOR A JOB INTERVIEW:nurse:...never been to one, so dont know what to expect..didnt get enough sleep because my husband is oppossed to the idea of working in jail...I believe that there is nothing wrong with it and I should stick to my guts!!!!
  12. I got my license on the 30th of May..got a job offer the next day at a homehealth agency, but their taking forever to process my documents...I applied to so many ad, and never get a call back.Today 2 calls for interview: FT jail nurse, & PRN at a methadone clinic...Kind of scared, but I need to start somehwere...
  13. :twocents:Im working as a tech in a hospital here in AZ where they phase out LPN's years ago..when I start school last year to become an LPN...everybody ask me why and says "dont do that, just get in line for the RN", you cant get anywhere with LPN...It was discouraging, but after a year--I got my License and got a job offer the next day!!!now everybody is telling me that it's not good for a new nurse to work as a home health nurse!!!!I just want to tell them that I will get there in time...for now let me be the NURSE that I want to be!!!
  14. I scheduled to take the NCLEX PN a day before my birthday..I remember stepping out of that room, thinking that I failed for sure...I went home and did the good pop up (got a good one), but didnt trust it...i went to sleep after midnight before I checked if name is on Arizona BN, it was not...as soon as I get up, I checked it again and I did it every hour...at 0800 it says I passed!!! And @ 0900 have a License #...only then I know/believed that I truly passed and now I can say that I am a NURSE...I have to say that the school give me that knowledge more than anything else.. Review class (not sure)...all nurses study guide is an amazing tool...i did nclex question everyday for at least 3 hrs. 1 week before the test...and I took the NCLEX as soon as I received my ATT...
  15. Took the NCLEX PN here in Arizona 5/29/2012. I did the good pop up trick every hour!!! check the BON at 0900 (5/30) and there's a LICENSE #:yelclap::yelclap:
