Washington Hospital Center Residency February 2011 COHORT
I interviewed on the 8th, but I didn't have one of the letters of reference, plus I told them that I will be out of the country until the 5th of January, so I will know once I get back If I got the job or not I guess. The interview process me was better than I expected it to be, just a little bit long thats all. As for the cost of living the pay is 27.67 an hour plus differentials, and they pay you for the 8 holidays regardless if you work them or not :). Well see what happens.

Washington Hospital Center Residency February 2011 COHORT
Hello everyone! I just came home from my interview and I think it well really well, I only got to interview with the nurse manager from a stroke unit, and not he other units I had for my first priorities. She gave me a tour of the Unit, and her personality made the whole process much easier, but I was still a little bit nervous. Some tips for the people coming to Washington Hospital Center for their interview: 1) Eat before you get there, the whole process might take 2 hours, since you interview with a nurse manager and a recruiter, and you might tour the unit as well. 2) If you can sit on the chairs on the isles since they will call your name, and you will have to go towards the side of the auditorium and is easier to get around. 3)Review clinical stuff, such what kind of assestments and interventions should be done for certain patients, and what kind of things the doctor might order. 4)Everyone was really nice, so don't stress out too much. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! ILL LET YOU KNOW IF I GOT HIRED.

Vanderbilt Nurse Residency winter 2011 cohort
Hello everyone I was put on the waiting list for an interview for the peds track, I don´t know how it works but I hope they give me a chance to interview at least, for those who didn´t get it I am sorry, I think that the lack of volunteering that maybe some of us had made an impact, plus I know of some others that have worked there before so at least have a foot in he door. Congrats to those who made it!

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
hello there! for physiology all of you guys will be together in a huge auditorium, before i left they were even putting your class together with the ultrasound students as well!! i don't know if they are still doing that to you guys. as for anatomy the lectures were together as well, but when you went to the cadaver lab, they separate you into two groups, so everyone has a chance to explore! on orientation they do introduce some of the students from the class ahead, and sometimes even the senior class :); and yes they announce the current nclex passing rate, and your classe's gpa average; you don't get to meet us as far as i know; i didn't meet the class that graduated on my orientation. congrats on the baptist scholars program, i now regret having not applied to it ; back then i thought it was going to be so simple for a new nurse to find a job, oh well, what i am doing now is researching different pediatric interships that take new grads, and train them for a year!, so i will probably move to another state and start working around january. but peds is what i want like i said before ; so i will do what is best for me. for the first chapter they didn't really focus on the anatomy of the cell, that is too basic, i will look for my notes this weekend and see what they taught me, in advance physiology they go more in depth, they talk about ion exchanges inside the cell between potassium, sodium and chloride; or neurotransmitters like acetylcholine and the response that they make if they inhibit or accelerate a process. i think the first exam was the easiest then they got harder of course. you will learn all this stuff so don't get intimidated by this terms, i think you will do enough studying in your first year of nursing school, i was just as eager as you and wanted to review stuff to be prepared but to tell you the truth is a whole new way of studying so there isn't really a way to prepare for it:confused: ; just relax and enjoy your life of freedom right now!!! learning will come when you are in school!

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
hello there futurenutrie, studying tip for a&p can be challenging sometimes, but not so much for anatomy (oh and you get to study with cadavers; not pigs like in previous classes); the best way that worked for me was to tape record the class in case i miss anything during class, i would listen to it on the way to school before class and i would ask the professor questions in case i had any missunderstandings ; at the end of the week i would get together with a group of friends and go over each power point slide; sometimes each person understands the same material different or writes notes that you might have missed, so study groups are a great way to learn from each other; a tip is to print your power points 3 slides per page so you can write next to them :)!! do charts to compare stages, such us the stages of muscle contraction or nerve conduction; at the end it all the depends on how you learn, i am consider myself nerdy so i would research something in all types of ways until i understood it, even if it took me 3 books :) and several websites; but at the end it was worth it; i got an award for doing great in class! good luck! oh as far as the iphone, back then no one had one :) so you guys have to ask if they let you use it as a pda, but don't worry you only need it until 2nd semester.

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
Oh I forgot to tell you guys something, they will make you buy a PDA worth like $300 in 2nd semester, and buy like 3 or 4 programs in which you can access medications, laboratory values, and a medical dictionary What i did with some friends was to buy a program and they give you like two different codes, so you guys can split it in 2.

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
Hello Zdream; I felt the same way as you did, I wanted to be the only one with a rolling book bag but at the end it didn't make a difference by 2nd semester you have so many books and things that I didn't care, I am also petite and besides that loved checking out different books from the library so it was to my advantage to have one:up: Good luck!

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
Hello Pink Nurse!; they didn't require us to get protective eye gear so i don't know about that; the bandage scissors can be any color, the same for the penlights and like i said before get too since the penlights are cheap :)!. as for the FNSA membership we didn't do that either so i can't give you advice. As for the watch with the second hand it can be any color as well, i would recommend plastic, you are going to be washing your hands A LOT, and things can get in them such as vomit, blood, diarrhea sorry so yeah don't get leather please. as for digital or analog it depends on what you find easier, to count the pulse its easier for some people with analog watches so it depends on your style.

How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?
Hello Jerziana29 how many days a week are you going to work? hopefully it won't be too many ; as for baptist scholars yes they do divide you after your first semester and you don't see them again until graduation ; its good that both cohorts stay in contact with each other sometimes baptist goes over the answers which really sucked for us in ft. lauderdale or one can get different tips on tests (both of you guys take the same test) but you may have different professors; so my recommendations stay in touch with both cohorts. No a financial advisor did not contact me; login into your webstar account, you should have a NSU number and your password, then go to your account and it will show what has gone through, Don't worry if you don't see your grants or loans posted it takes about 15 days after you start school in order for them to get posted; also the school gives you 30 days to pay each semester after that you get charge a $50 late fee and they put a hold into your account which means you can't check books or go to the gym . OH another thing for A&P all of you guys will be together but for the other classes the nurse as a scholar and i forget the other one; your class will be divided in two because the computer room is not big enough and you don't get to choose, so you and your friends could get divided . I am leaving my house for this weekend i will answer your questions back on monday Take Care :)
