  1. I called today about the CPR card. I was told to mail a copy to: School of Nursing, Office of Student and Academic Services 655 W. Lombard Street, Suite 102 Baltimore, MD 21201
  2. I bought all of mine, almost all used. I bought most of them from a current student (a friend) and I bought the rest off of half.com (mostly) and one or two off of Amazon.com
  3. Okat, thank you so much for the advice! I will hold off then for now and just wear my sneakers for lab.
  4. While we are on the uniform topic, what are you all doing for shoes? I think I read they have to be all white or something. Would these work? http://www.allheart.com/lnenergiz.html
  5. Hi! From what I have been told and heard is that orientation is mandatory and every effort should be made to attend. As far as scurbs, you have to wear them in lab, so you do need them for this semester. If I were you I would come to orientation if you can find a flight.
  6. I looked online and can't find the link for that, but I had attended an information session and I know it was mentioned there. Call the admissions office to double check if you want, but I am 99% positive you have to have a B in the required science classes.
  7. Apply for Fall 2011, but retake Anatomy this spring. You have to have a B in the prereqs to be admitted (so they say). Best of luck!
  8. It is possible to reduce the hours. I would love to do 20 hours because I will then be paid half my salary and keep my benefits. Keeping health insurance and other stuff isnt essential because I can jump on my husbands, but I have a loan thing through my employer that I have to pay back if I dont keep my hours above 20.... I would love to not pay back that $12K and keep an income coming.... (that amount reduces each year I am there). We could swing me not working, its just hard for me to justify not working part-time financially, even if it means late nights and stress. Fortunately, I think it will be set up that I only go to the office one time per week and the rest of the hours will be when I can and remote. That should help I think. I think I will start it (if it gets approved by the higher ups) and then if I need to pull back on hours or quit I can do that. Maybe they wont approve the reduction to part-time and wont be an issue.... Either way I am so excited to be accepted and cant wait to start! Once I finish microbiology this semester I am going to review Human Anatomy. Another question for you... We should receive the packets this week, correct? I havent received a call or packet yet, but my status is the provisional admit. Also, one more question, do you know when the Baltimore orientation is? Thank you so much for your responses and help!! You are wonderful!
  9. I dont have a site or anything to send you to, but I am budgeting to spend $14,000 on tuition, books, and parking each year. I would love to have a more accurate number! I have our budget done for the next two years, so the more accurate I can make it the better!
  10. The form can be found here: http://nursing.umaryland.edu/sites/default/files/uploads/docs/student-forms/apply-in-state-status.pdf I think you were supposed to submit with the application, so I would call and ask where you need to send it. I am so excited too!!! A little nervous because I am going to be working part-time too, and some of the posts have scared me. I worked 30 to 40 hours a week during my last two years for my first degree so I know I can balance things and I wont be working more than 20 hours this time. Just makes me nervous that everyone says it is almost impossible to do well if you work.
  11. I looked this up on their website this morning because I was wondering the same thing since I have taken classes. It says "Submit a copy of your CPR card Professional Rescuer (without automatic defibrillator) or Professional Healthcare Provider-level CPR certification. Certification should be taken no more than three months before the first day of class. Your certification must be current throughout your enrollment in the program." http://nursing.umaryland.edu/student-resources/student-services/newstu-info
