  1. Good luck everyone who applied and invited to the interview at Penn. I'm a first year SRNA soon to be 2nd year at Penn. It has been a great experience, personally, for me. Love the program, overall, so far. I've been in the clinical for 7 months now (being in the integrated program); it was great because I can start "connecting most of the didactic knowledge (e.g., anesthesia physiology courses, basic and advance anesthesia courses, etc.) fresh from the classroom's lecture." I know Penn is "expensive," but, in my personal opinion, it's totally worth it.
  2. Yes you can take certain courses beforehand. I was thinking the same way last year and I spoke with two of the SRNAs from the 2017 Cohort. They said you can take it. However, you have to ask the program director to matriculate you prior taking those courses. I personally felt that my priority was to keep accumulating my ICU experiences and "money," so, I didn't pursue the interest. I am planning not to work at all for the next three years.
  3. To all my fellow 2018 Cohort, the summer and fall course registrations are now open and fully functional.
  4. Congratulations!!! I will be more than happy to share with you my experience with the program once I start as much as I can when time permits . Good luck to you too!
  5. Our three years journey starts May 10th. Together, we shall sweat, bleed, and cry marching to the top of Mount Victory :)
  6. Great, I work in one of NYC CTICU... Long Island isn't too far...
  7. what a nice surprise :). Welcome... Are you working in NYC, by any chance?
  8. submitted my application on second week of March, interviewed on third week of May, and received decision on third week of June.
  9. Thank you sir/mam.
  10. Hi wjsb, you mentioned a hand book. I don't think I have one. Where and how can get one? Also, I am a dad, so I will definitely need to learn some of those jokes from you :). Btw, since we are going to spend three years together, is it okay if I ask where is everyone came from. I live here in south jersey, 35-40 min from Philly. I used to live in NYC. I moved here for almost a year now.
  11. 7 more months...are you guys excited? Can't wait to start the journey with all of you. I know it won't be a cake walk at all. The journey will be filled with our blood and tears, but I believe we are all going to make it. See you all soon :)
  12. I just got my POS sent to my email.
  13. Sylvia never responded to my email. After I saw your post, I just sent her another email asking her if I can receive mine over email. Thanks Ldv119 for the input.
  14. Yes, I don't see it on my application portal either. Tried to call the nursing admission office this morning, but no luck... I sent an email to Sylvia English as well... Looking forward to meet with all of you next year :)
  15. I'm joining you all next summer :)
  16. I hope I can join you guys in 2018.
  17. Hi Ldv119 and wjsb, Thank you for all of your advices. I got the interview invite. I really hope, like you said, that I can convince Dr. Lord and Ms. Winner that I am ready for the program. I am hoping that I can be part of the group in 2018 :). I will keep you guys updated. Please keep me in your thoughts.
  18. Hi Leslie119, Thank you for the input. I really hope I'll get the phone call. I hope you won't mind if I am asking about your GPA and how many years of ICU experience do you have? I only have a little over CTICU experience to date, although I will have more than two years by summer next year. My GPA isn't the best either. I only have 3.65. A lot of my friends said that UPenn is pretty hard to get in. Thanks again in advance for any advise that you may have.
  19. Hello All, I have completed my application for the Summer '18 program on March 11th and I have received an email on March 21st from the admission office saying that my application is now moving to review process. Should I have the privilege to be invited to the interview, when should I expect that phone call? Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Hi Fabulous123, as long as you'll have your RN license by September, you'll be fine. If you don't have it by then, I think they will force you to withdraw from the classes. Classes are manageable. They were not difficult if compared to the "real nursing classes" back at my old ADN's classes :). You'll be able to get a good grade if you invest time in moderate studying for the exams and completing all the assignments. Hope all the above help. Good luck.
  21. Don't know much about program elsewhere, but Downstate's program was pretty good in my opinion. They are pretty flexible. They usually work with your work schedule. I was on my orientation for my first nursing job when I started at Downstate. I think I missed the first four if not five weeks of the class. You can tailor your schedule to only one day per week and their classes all are hybrid (part online). I went to Downstate is also because I want to apply the NA program when I have enough critical care experience. I graduated from downstate last December and right after I was able to land a new job at NYP. So, getting a BSN is a must if you want to advance your career. Good luck!
  22. Great...one semester done :). I still have couple of the books...not all. I don't know if there are opening at my new hospital, at this time. However, I know that HHC hospitals always have openings for staff nurse positions. http://www.employment.nychhc.org Also, utilize you ex-clinical professors from your previous ADN school. Talk to them and see if they can help you with at least "an interview." Good luck with the reminder of the semesters and good luck on your nursing career.
