  1. I just interviewed on the oncology floor at SMH yesterday, and the unit manager called me minutes after I'd left the building to offer me the position. Weird thing is, I asked before leaving how long it would take for them to reach a decision and they said they're still interviewing and they'd let me know in a few weeks. So I guess if depends...
  2. I'm interviewing at the Santa Monica location for I think an oncology floor tomorrow. I'm not sure if they've officially started interviewing for non-NICU floors, but I just emailed them saying I'll be in the area so I could interview, and they said okay!
  3. I PASSED!! I did the pearsonvue trick on Friday and I got the good popup, and I just checked the PA BON and my name is up there as RN, yaaaayyy!! I can't believe that trick works. And I'm glad I didn't have to pay for quick results, I think that's just their cruel twisted way of making more money, so I exercised my rights as a consumer to not give in to them.
  4. PVT worked for me too!! I took my exam Thursday, got good popup from PVT on Friday, and now on Monday, 2 business days later, my state posted my name as an RN, YEAHHH!!
  5. YEP skirkby that's the "good popup," so it looks like you passed!!! :)
  6. I highly recommend the Kaplan Strategies book, the Exam Cram book (it includes computer adaptive testing CD), and just LOTS of practice questions. I think I did about 4000 questions in total before taking the test.
  7. I took my exam on Thursday and wanted to cry coming out of it, after 75 impossible questions. I checked the BON site, and my names wasn't there this AM. I didn't want to wait all weekend so I did the PearsonVUE trick just now, and I got the good popup. God I hope this trick really works, because I told myself if I pass, I can go to EDC in LA this coming weekend to celebrate.. my first and possibly last rave everrr!
  8. I can't PM yet but do you mind PMing me with what unit and how the interview was and how long it took for them to decide?
  9. That's brutal. What are you planning to do, will you stay in Boston?
  10. AHH thanks flames9, that makes me feel a little bit better.
  11. AHHH I just finished too, took an hour and 75 questions.. I got a lot of SATA and priority and meds I've never heard of. I felt unsure of everything, and I didn't get a calculation question. That's a bad sign right...? Whimper.
  12. I heard promising things about Texas too. And nowhere else... maybe North Carolina?
  13. Yeah the GPA minimum for application is pretty common now.. I know NYU had a 3.5 minimum, which was pretty harsh, but you can imagine how many apps they got regardless. It is tough to deal with though because I know there's so much variability between schools and individuals. Personally I got a business degree on top of my BSN in my 4 years of undergrad, so my GPA is a little lower than some of my peers (3.5). I'm afraid recruiters won't take that into consideration.
  14. In response to the atmosphere at MSKCC, I worked there for my summer externship and everyone I met there was outstanding. They all loved their jobs, loved the support, the environment, and seriously everyone said that once you work there, you wouldn't want to work anywhere else. They have everything in-house (like interpreters and.. carpenters?!) which is pretty darn cool. The nurses are very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. The patients come from all over (Turkey, US Virgin Islands, UAE...) and it's quite an experience. Apparently they're not really hiring any new grads now, even from their extern pool.. or maybe it's just me and my friends. But their benefits and pay are freakishly amazing. So props and congrats if you can get a job here, you're set!!
  15. AHH yeah I'm sorry we can't post emails here and I don't have enough posts to send you a message yet. Let me post a few more I guess and I'll send you a message!
