Test Anxiety
Hey seems like I was reading about "myself" when I read your post. I have anxiety too, that escalated in nursing school. Its my first semester of nur101. I can totally relate. . I know that some test anxiety is normal...everyone has it..But when its extreme to the point where you completely stress yourself out, you start getting tremors, shaking, dizzy, chest pains, sweating, forgetting info.then you should seek medical advise as it could be a severe case. Try therapeutic techniques first such as of calming yourself down, like breathing exercises, thinking positively, believing in yourself etc. Then discuss this with your professors and see if they have anything to say..

Possible termination for HIPAA violations
I'm sorry, I wish it all works out for you. Try to explain to your employer that it was a huge mistake that happened unknowingly. We are only human. I don't have much advise as I'm still a nursing student. Keep your thoughts postive.

Possible termination for HIPAA violations
In nursing school we are learning about so called "Hipaa police" that literally watch people in cafeteria/break rooms and snoop nurses etc. it's b/c hospitals do not want to pay big bucks for a Hipaa violation. It's 5,000$ per incident (each time u look at the same chart). It decreases the rating of the hospital. Def not worth i. I hope this does my get reported to the nursing board and it all works out for you.

Bankruptcy and Jobs
Hey hun don't stress over it, I know because I'm in the same boat. My husband is the only one that works and provides for the family. I had to quit my job after my son's premature birth and that lead to so much unpaid credit card bills. We are also in the process of filing bankruptcy as well . Its stressful, but this the only option I see for us. . We live on just my husbands income, and cannot manage pay for all the necessities (rent, food, utilities etc) and credit card bills. According to my Bankruptcy lawyer, a potential employer has to inform you on the credit check as well as background check. If the employer says they are going to do a background check that should NOT include credit check. Its a violation, if they tell you they will check "background" and then in disguise check your credit. While filling out a work application, in the fine lines, it must state what type of check they are performing (if its background check, credit check, or both).. Don't worry, and don't stress about it..concentrate on nursing school. Good luck

Has anyone started studying for medical dosage calculation test yet?
Hi everyone, well I took my med dose on Sept 2 (Friday) and I got a 100% :) on the first try. So proud of myself for passing. Your right Geneva007--some of the schools I know want 100%, some want 95% and very few want 90% ( like my school). Good luck to all of you.

School starts tomorrow!
I can so relate to you...Im so anxious as well, school starts next week for me and as the days get closer, the more nervous I get. You are so right about the "unknown" part. I mean is it as hard as everyone makes it seem? We will just have to figure that out ourselves. Maybe what someone considered "hard" another person may consider easy. According to my sister who is a RN (graduated form the same NS school I will attend) said NS is easy to some and hard to others..it all depends on your own individual experience. Just think positive thoughts, it will be fine. Good luck :)

Has anyone started studying for medical dosage calculation test yet?
Hi everyone...congrats on getting into Nursing school. Now, we all have to overcome our first challenge--The med dose exam :)) I started studying for it in the beginning of August from the required book called "Dosage Calculations" by Gloria D. Picker on almost the last two chapters :). So far so good, I don't have anything to complain about...It seems easy thus far. So what do you all think of it? Whats your favorite dosage calculation method? My favorite formula is the Desired/amount on hands X Quantity = X and ratio proportions.. I don't really like the dimensional analysis. Our classes start on August 31 and first exam is on Sept 2, 90% is passing and there will be three tries.

Using a Littmann 3200 Electronic Stethoscope for nursing school?
I think it would be beneficial for you to get a electronic stethoscope. Maybe try it out at medical pharmacies/shops before purchasing. My family doctor has the littmann electronic 3200 and he loves it. When I complemented him on it, he offered to get me one as a gift. I personally wad shocked that he is getting the expensive one for me.lol

Using a Littmann 3200 Electronic Stethoscope for nursing school?
Thanks, that's what I thought as well. I think a electronic one isn't needed for nursing 101. I'll keep that for after nursing school.

should I quit my well paying job of 43,000 a year to go to nursing school
Hmm, I would not quit this job yet, but first go out and find a well paying evening job that hires you full time, part time, or even on call job. Then when you are financially stable in the new job(have a full time evening shift) quit your current day job. It will be tough in the beginning working double jobs since you may not land a full time evening shift quickly. But once you get the full time position quit your day job. That would be an option so you can go to school/work

Using a Littmann 3200 Electronic Stethoscope for nursing school?
My family doctor is giving me a littmann 3200 electronic stethoscope as present for entering nursing school. Although I have purchased a littmann classic light weight already, would it be strange to use such an expensive, over the top stethoscope for nursing 101?

I am so thrilled to finally order my nursing uniform! This officially means i'm a nursing student :). Our nursing school uniform colors are dark hunter green scrub top/pants and a white warmer jacket with our school logo. I also purchased a littman stethoscope as well--So excited! Its a dream come true, I would see nursing students the past years wearing unifroms and I always admired them. Finally its my chance..I love the feeling.
