New Nurse Jitters? Am I alone?
I know exactly how you feel and have been trying to put a tag on what i have been feeling for the past few weeks. I have been on my own for about 3 weeks and it is overwhelming but I am trustung in God that I can make it. I have been taking "on call" for my pass 3 shifts because of the jitters but it feels better knowing that i am not alone. I can do, i just have to encourage meself and realize that i am still learning and to keep it moving :)

Struggeling New Grad working in the med surg floor.
hi all. i work on a pedi med/surg floor. im suppose to be on my own next week and im kind of scare. i am doing my overnight/off shift orientation this week. i still feel like im doing bad eventhough all my preceptors say that i am doing great......i dont see it. my thing to get me through is to pray and ask God to be with as I go and work with my patients. i also pray for His wisdom.... i still have alot to learn.

A happy rant about my nursing coworkers :)
I finally start on the floor with my preceptor this friday, after all the new employee and nursing orientations and computer charting training....lol, I pray that I get a good preceptor and that the staff is supportive......that will make or break this whole orientation experience.

New Grad NICU Support Thread
I'm so proud of all of you. My dream job is to be a NICU nurse. My 1st job will be in a Peds Hospital and if I do will in this new nurse program and on the interviews once the program is over then they will hire me on perm. Then maybe I can get some experience and maybe move to the NICU - Good Luck everyone. :)

Hard for GNs to get jobs in St. Louis?
Well this might just be for me since I am going into an area that wasn't even going to be apart of this program - but they decided to join. It it 6 of us and 3 people were hired on a floor along side this new program (so b4 that were in the new nurse program they were already hired onto a perm. floor), the other 3 of us were not we were just invited to join the new nursing program.....so at the end of the 8 weeks if we do well in the program then they will offer us interviews fot perm. floor postitions BUT I was also told the same thing that I would likely get hired on a perm. floor......hopefully on the 2nd all info/ends and outs will be given. Like I was told that there were no Peds positions and that SSM's pediatric hospital was not going to be in the program and I get a call telling me they are and that I got in - so I'm super excitied to start because that is what I wanted because I thought I was getting med/surg for sure. This is SSM's 1st time during this program from what I was told so I think kinks are being worked out.....lol.....but I think you will be fine don't worry. PS. My friend that graduated with me was in the last group that started in June said she really like it.

Hard for GNs to get jobs in St. Louis?
^^^ I'm going to be apart of the SSM New Grad Nurse program as well. I am in the Aug. group. They already told me which hospital I will be at and everything. The only thing that makes me nervous is that once this 8 week program is over I won't "officially" have a job because they will set up interviews with floors that have openings and I will have to interview for a perm. floor position - since this program will rotates you to different areas of the hospital you are placed at. But I'm just thankful for the program (it is paid and that is a big +) and if I don't get hired on a perm floor at the end of this program I will just thank God for the experience and keep hunting for a job. But I am totally going to stay postition and keep praying through this process. I'm actually excitied & kinda of nervous :)

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
PV Trick is 100% true. Took my test on monday the 19th @ 8am. Had 75 questions - took me about 1.5 hrs, thought the exam was to fair/easy (think this was because I studied content and questions) for me to have passed.....was sure I failed because I was looking for extremely hard questions but did not have any.....lol. Tried the PVT at about 5pm that night. Got the good pop up. Got my pass letter for the BON today. Can't believe I passed. God is good. He has never failed me.

THANK YOU JESUS, YOU HAVE NEVER FAILED ME. I give God all the Glory and Honor. I passed. I got my official pass letter in the mail today. I can say that the PV Trick works.....so glad I didn't pay that 7.95....lol...because I honestly didn't have it....lol. I can't believe I'm a nurse and that I passed because that test was fair almost easy. But I totally believe that is because I studied content and questions and because God gave me His grace. @ikedinachi1.....I will keep you in my prayers. You can do it. Be confident but humble. I prayed for I went into my test and gave it over to God and as Him to help me. During the test when I felt nervous I called on Jesus and He gave me peace.

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
To my NCLEX-RN today at 8am. Had 75 questions. Left the exam center thinking that the exam was not as hard as everyone claims.....I though that it was fair. But this may also be because I studied. I studied questions and content. I did not take any review classes. Just used Saunders, LaCharity, and Kaplan Strategy book. Jusy tried the PVT Trick and I got the "Good Pop-Up".....I don't believe it. Is this trick for real. I keep thinking how could I have passed this exam. We will see. I will post back once I get my official results.

Took NCLEX-RN today @ 8:00am..........I don't know how I feel about the exam. It wasn't hard but it wasn't easy. I would say that it was fair. I don't know if this is a good sign or a bad sign........I just feel like from everyone's post here that it should have been extremely HARD but it was not....it was average. And I keep thinking well maybe I did BAD if my test was not extremely, extremely difficult. My test shut down at 75 questions and it took me about an hour and half. I was so hoping that I would get more questions because I feel like those 75 questions were not enough to prove my competency. I had at least 10+ SATA, a few infection control questions, a few of priority questions, a ton of medication questions, 1 calculation questions. I may try the PVT but I will wait a few hours because I'm nervous......I don't want to see the CC page. I will update later when I get the guts to try the PVT.

I take NCLEX-RN on next Monday, the 19th, and I am getting kind of nervous. I feel like I have studied hard. I have already done over 3800+ practice questions – my goal is 5000 before my test day but I will be happy if I get to 4000+. I have read all of the chapters in Saunders (except Pharm and Mental Health….I just felt like reading about all the different medication were not going to get the information to stick and that practice questions would help me retain the medications better and I have also been good with Psych questions). I have been working through my LaCharity PDA book (working on the case studies now) and I just finished reading all of the section in Kaplan Strategies 2010-2011 book (I just have the 2 practice test to complete). I just keep telling myself that I can do this and that I can pass the NCLEX.
