Liberty University's PMHNP program May 2020
Anyone starting Liberty's PMHNP program? I'm nervous to go back to school. Would like to find some others who are in the same boat!

Liberty University's PMHNP program
I'll be starting Liberty University's PMHNP in May. Any insight on how the program is? Does anyone have the syllabus for the first courses? I looked at the textbook requirements and I'll be spending over $800 for just the first 2 classes. Do you actually use all of the required textbooks? Thanks for any info!

Home health RN vs Case Manager RN??
I'm considering going into home health management. I love the idea of helping patients "where they are" so to speak and the autonomy of home health nursing. I also need a job that offers flexibility in scheduling as I need to have at least 1 day off during the work week (Mon-Fri) for another obligation. So my question lies here: I'm looking through job searches and I keep seeing Home health RN and Home Health Case Manager RN. What is the difference? Do case managers have flexibility with their scheduling as well? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Herzing University FNP program?
Hi I don't have the syllabus because I took that class so long ago. But so far my overall experience has been very well. The first few classes were research and ethics so we had 2 discussion posts and a paper due almost every week for each classes. I felt like it was very doable. The clinical advisor also went the extra mile to help me get my paper work for clinicals together and ready. Overall I am very happy with this school.

Herzing University FNP program?
I just finished my 4th term at Herzing for the FNP concentration. Like most of you I work full time (I'm an active duty nurse in the Navy) and I have a spouse, 2 yr old, 1 yr old and a baby on the way. Yes I have a lot going on lol. Up until this point I was full time (2 classes at a time). I work night shift so I am able to do a lot of work at my job. I have yet to start clinical and am actually postponing that due to the baby being due but so far, I have no complaints. Yes in the beginning courses there is theory and research and you write a lot of papers but I wouldn't necessarily say it's hard work, just time consuming. Feel free to PM me any questions. Hope I helped some of you :)

Do grades mean much?
If you plan on stopping at your RN then getting good grades will benefit you for preparing for the NCLEX and understanding clinical knowledge. No employer asks what you're GPA was in school. To be honest you can graduate with a 4.0 and still not understand how to be a nurse. That is normal and expected. If you plan to go to graduate school, many of them have undergraduate GPA requirements. Not all of them, but a lot of them do. Hope this helps.

Tips for my students that work
Thank you! This seems like a very thorough way to study

Going back to school at 30
You can do it! There are plenty of non traditional students (i.e. those who aren't the typical 18 yr old just graduated high school) in the nursing program, and in my opinion they do very well if not better than the traditional students. You're bringing more knowledge and wisdom having probably interacted with the health care system as a patient. It's perfectly normal to be afraid of failure but why live with regret when you don't have to?

Walden/online np programs
I am not personally going to Walden but I have a friend who did and graduated. She was in the FNP program and would often state she made all A's in her classes but did not feel very challenged and that the program didn't prepare her that well for boards. Please understand I'm not saying this to discourage you. The facts of the matter is, she made all A's and ending up passing her boards on the 1st try so Walden must have done something right :) Consequently I'm in the same boat as you. I have 2 little kids to care for so I can't afford to pay for a name. I figure, if I'm studying the same material as everyone else, why does it matter? Good luck with everything!

Excited & Nervous NP student
I'm starting a FNP program in a few weeks! I definitely understand the nervous/excited pendulum. I also have been looking up tips for getting through NP school. The best one so far in my opinion was stay organized, which I sometimes have a problem with :/
