  1. crossingfingers10 & jyaa: For Fountain Valley, he called me Wednesday morning last week but I missed it on the last ring and I was freaking out! So I called back immediately and left a message. Then he called me back later that afternoon and said he'd be calling back Friday for interviews... but I didn't hear back from him :[
  2. I applied. Hoping to hear from them soon. Let me know if you hear anything and good luck to both of us! :]
  3. I am so very sorry :[ My only advice to you is to think of it as their loss, keep your head up, and keep applying. I know it's easier said than done but I know how you feel. I'm a May 2009 grad and have only had interviews at 2 places (both barely this year!). The first interview place was whatever since I was scared to work there anyway (jail ward), but for the second place I even got a 2nd interview and REALLY thought this was it and that my horrible unemployed journey was over. Then I found out I didn't get it and I was sad, depressed, angry, annoyed, etc. (The way I found out was horrible too because she said she'd call me that same day, friday, to tell me whether or not I got the job, she said she'd call either way. So as 5pm approached, my heart was racing, then nothing. I thought maybe she works late, til 7? Still nothing. So all weekend I held on to hope since she said she'd let me know either way. One second I'd think, maybe she'll give me good news monday. The next second I'd think, well she didn't call so it's probably bad. ALL weekend I was worried and anxious and my heart would race on and off! Worse than waiting for NCLEX results! So I emailed Monday. Soon after I get a reply saying they went with someone else, and that I interview well and the staff that did the peer interview loved me (apparently not enough), oh and that I'm next in line should anything happen (yeah right). I seriously cried hard after I got that email.) But...here I am, a month later and just continuing my search. So don't worry. Like anything else it will hurt less in time and just try to use it to fuel your fire and energy into looking elsewhere. Hoping that both of us will find something soon! **hugs**
  4. Hello, may I ask if you have your BSN and if you applied on the usajobs site for this position or how you were possibly able to secure this position? I would love to work for the VA but I have my ADN and know that they prefer (if not require BSNs) :\ My one year anniversary for being an unemployed new grad is days away so I know how important this is for you. I'm sure you stated in your resume and or application your current address so if they are calling you for a phone interview despite that, then they're probably aware you will be moving for that position. So just be sure to let them know that you're willing to move and maybe stress how since you have no other obligations (AKA can't find anything else at the moment) that you'll be readily available to them :] Good luck!
  5. That's great that you're applying before you're licensed! In these days and times you will need any edge you can get to find that first job. I am a new grad myself looking for a job but graduated in May 2009 :[ Personally I don't apply when it says "X yrs experience required", but if it says "preferred" then I go ahead and apply. I'm sure you can take your chances and apply to the ones that say "required" but you might also **** off HR or the nurse recruiter (as I'm starting to see more and more job posts say "NO NEW GRADS!"). Then again I've also heard of people stating that they applied to jobs they didn't exactly qualify for and just so happen to get considered and or hired. Also, if you know (or it states) that the job or new grad program is going to start before August then you might want to not waste your time. But if it doesn't state, then it won't hurt to apply and they might just hold that position for you :] I sincerely hope you find a job soon after you graduate and pass the NCLEX or even secure one before graduation! GOOD LUCK!
  6. Thanks for the info. 10 out of 1100+ doesn't sound very promising :[
  7. yup that's the email I barely received today. (not sure if it's the same email people received last week.) we just forget about them, move on, and keep applying.
  8. So I barely received the email from St. Jude and like HR said, they filled all the New Grad positions with internal transfers. Annoying! Oh and it said due to the high volume of applicants (over 1400) they're asking not to follow up with an email or a phone call, geez. ... and the job hunt continues
  9. Congrats on the job offer at County! May I ask when you did your initial interview and when they contacted you? And if you had to call a million times or if anything specifically helped you to get hired? I know how hard it is to get hired there these days so I'm happy for you :] In my opinion, you'd have new technology and all that jazz at cedars but with many ungrateful pts who feel like it's a hotel rather than a hospital. At county, you make do with what they have in terms of equipment and technology, but with less fortunate (aka poor/no insurance/homeless) pts who are more often than not grateful for you helping them. (oh and what unit will you be working on?) lucky! :]
  10. I applied early April and haven't heard anything from them. (No email either.) Hoping to hear from them tomorrow or soon! Thanks for the info and I'll post if I hear anything. Good luck to everyone :]
  11. I recently applied and sent my questionnaire back for the UCSD new grad program for July 2010. Has anyone done the same and heard back from them? I noticed they took off the job posting already. Any info/tips/news/advice regarding the program and or the interview process? Thanks and good luck to all of us new grads :] (especially ones (like me) who graduated last year in may 2009 and are still looking for a job :[ )
