Physical Rehab for new grad
Lol. Guess I worded that incorrectly. I am actually concerned it won't count as "med-Surg" experience. From the interview, description and shadowing it definitely seemed just like med Surg but wasn't sure how it will count in the future, on paper. And I do remember her saying they got new management and are getting sicker patients. Guess I was still thinking about the "stable" portion of the job description.

Physical Rehab for new grad
I have been offered a job in a rehab unit at a local hospital but can't decide if I should take it. I have 6 months in med Surg but am scared I won't get enough experience in rehab. Any thoughts?

Shreveport/Bossier area hiring criteria
They hire ADN but one hospital just announced its closing so right now I'm sure those being let go will get the jobs at the other hospitals. I graduated in December with ADN and everyone has jobs in Shreveport/Bossier at many diff hospitals.

Physical Rehab for new grad
Would you recommend physical rehab for a new grad? I have until Tuesday to make my decision!

Weekend Only Shift
$7 more per hour. One weekend off every six months. I am scheduled to speak with HR for all the details on Tuesday. I just know I can't stay in my current job. Lol

Weekend Only Shift
Husband is home 2 weeks of every month (gone 2 weeks), so I am either working or asleep when he is home since I now work nights. If he worked Monday-Friday it would interfere but I don't think it will much since I will have 4 days off/week and see him during that time.

Weekend Only Shift
I currently work nights, shift work but have been offered a position that is days, weekend only. I have a child and think this would be nice for school and sports activities during the week. Does anyone else work this schedule or have any thoughts? I have to decide by Tuesday. Thanks!

I need massive help. But from who?
I went in a few interviews just scared of the grass not being greener! Lol But everyone I've talked to agrees that most new grads are not done this way

I need massive help. But from who?
This sounds like my situation! I am a new grad who started in February. Last night I was floated to a unit I've never been to and had to be charge! I'm seriously considering quitting....

Thoughts on new grad being made charge?
JUST got off orientation and will be the only RN. I have told them I do not feel it is safe nor do I feel comfortable, only to be met with jokes about "sink or swim". I don't even really know what I'm doing at this point so how can I make these decisions for others?!

Thoughts on new grad being made charge?
What do you think? What would you do if you were the new grad?
-
Normal?
And, honestly, I haven't even seen or talked to my manager since I started 2 months ago. Who knows of I'm still on orientation or not....I'm not even on the unit she said I would be in. I'm just over it.

Normal?
What about teaching about nursing interventions?

Moving to Barksdale AFB
I live an hour south but went to school in Shreveport. As far as I know, all hospitals will hire LPNs. I know for certain that Schumpert had LPNs while I was in clinicals. You will have lots of options in hospitals! Willis Knighton has 4 campuses (if not more), Christus Schumpert has 2, LSU is a teaching hospital, the VA, and I'm sure a few more that I'm not familiar with. Good luck!

Normal?
What is the norm for orientation/preceptor? I really don't feel like I'm getting what I should but not sure if it is the norm. I am choosing not to list my concerns now, as I want to be able to compare. I basically want to know how your preceptor taught you, what they taught you, how you transitioned to more pts, or anything else you are willing to share. Thanks in advance!

How far do you travel to get to work?
About 5 minutes. Any other hospitals are an hour South or North.
