Humana Employees
How are things going for the ones that started working with Humana? They are currently hiring for Concurrent review/discharge planning position. Is this like a Mon-Fri 9-5 position? Is it salaried or hourly? Also I only have 2 years critical care experience not sure if I qualify.

Bullying at work, far commute... what to do??
I agree with trying to find something closer which will enable you to save money on commute and might make up for the pay cut. Also no amount of $$$ is worth happiness and time with your daughter. Maybe ask your bf to try to find more work so you won't have so much pressure to bring in the $. Bullying sucks but I think its one of many problems causing your unhappiness. Keep your head up and something better will come up.

Mom's Working 12's?
I'm a single mom and 12 hr shifts only work for me when they're nights. On days, by the time I left for work my daughter was sleeping and by the time I got home 8:30-9:00ish at night, my daughter had gone to bed.

IV insertion problems
Don't take it personal. Put yourself in their shoes. Who likes to be stuck repeatedly? If my daughter needed an IV, I would probably be that parent that puts pressure on the nurse (although I would do it nicely). My point is more than likely the patient has had a bad experience before making them act out.

Transition from medical floor to ICU
You're going through a lot of changes at the same time, which is tough. New building, new coworkers, new floor! I agree with the one year time frame before you start feeling comfortable. If you made it through 13 years as a medical nurse, I have no doubt that you'll succeed in your current role.

Florida Hospital Emergency Dept Nurse Internship Program
That is crazy! You showed initiative by getting those certifications and you have prior experience, regardless how long ago it was. I think that a new grad would cost them less. I've heard that Osceola Regional is always hiring, specially in their ED. It's not the best hospital In central Florida but it's worth a shot. You can work there for 6 months then try again at FL hospital?

Florida Hospital Emergency Dept Nurse Internship Program
How did it go? If you don't mind me asking, what type of experience do you have. ED is a specialty I'm interested in and I actually applied for the EDNIP at FL hospital but they never called me, perhaps because I only have 1 year med/surg experience.

Health Central or FL Hospital...anyone?
Some advice much needed if anyone can help! Ok so I have one year med/tele experience. I'm unhappy where I'm at currently. I'm Looking for a shorter commute (currently I'm driving 45 minutes one way) and also would like to work in a bigger hospital (currently work in an 84 bed-small community hospital). Does anyone have any info on Health Central? How's the culture? Do you like working there? Benefits? I've heard good things about them, more so now that they are part of the Orlando Health family. I have another dilemma. My ultimate goal is to be a critical care nurse. I didn't get the best orientation at my current job (although I'm doing well) so I don't feel qualified to apply for any ICU positions at the moment. Would I be "pigeon holed" If I were to complete another year on med/tele then transfer to ICU? Anyone know what is the night differential at Florida Hospital? I've heard conflicting information ranging from 15% to 35%. And what do you guys think a nurse with 1 year med/tele, ADN get an hour? I know a lot of questions! if anyone can answer at least one I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

Centura vs. Orlando Tech LPN
Hello Everyone! I'm new here. So I'm very interested in the LPN program. At first I was considering Orlando Tech however the next program starts September 10 and it's 15 months long (full time day program). The only other school that offers this program thar is near my home would be Centura Institute. They are accredited however I'm concerned about their price. Has anyone attended Centura, any information you can give on the cost, curriculum, whether you liked it and felt prepared. Etc.. I would greatly appreciate it!
