  1. Sixxteen, Not sure what you mean by "i went to CC page and failed. What is CC page? Congrats on passing!
  2. Well hello Sawyer, we chatted way back when before school started. I tested at Fitchburg, as well as GLT, went to FItchburg. I graduated and am taking my NCLEX this Monday.....I see you all got very busy and posting stopped, thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing? I've thought of you often and wondered how different our courses were, I know I was out straight with no time for such frivolous postings. I am very nervous about NCLEX as most everyone is. Will be so glad when it is done.
  3. Has anyone gotten the good pop-up but failed? I take the test Monday, we usually get results in 2 days but would be nice to try this trick....don't think anyone from my class has tried it...no one has mentioned it.
  4. Hi Gracie, The 2011 class just graduated tonight! They tell you not to work more than 30 hrs (I believe) Trust them, most of the class didn't even work that many hours. They are serious when they tell you that if you fall behind, it is VERY hard to catch up, the workload does NOT get lighter as the terms pass. Class is from 4-10 pm M-Thurs, Friday is your only wk day off. Clinicals once they start are 4-10 pm on wk day nights (class time (not class work) gets cut down when clinicals start) and 7-3pm every other wknd. There is a TON of reading, written assignments, and a few projects....you are always busy. With no family here to help, you are going to need very good/reliable child care, have a Plan A & Plan B. There is quite a bit of traveling for clinical sites, Athol, Gardner, Groton, Clinton, Fitchburg, Worcester, you will end up at about 5 different sites. Hope this helps you get a better picture of the upcoming year and what you will need to prepare for. Good luck!
  5. BrazilianLPN, just read your post and was wondering what the outcome was? You were so excited.
  6. We seem to be setting up a meeting tomorrow (Wed) night 7pm in Leominster.....did you send your private email to Christine for all the details.
  7. I just sent an email through yahoo with another possible location....check it out. The more the merrier!
  8. These are always tough questions. I ride, I've had an accident, luckily no major damage to me. I've worked as a CNA in rehab, saw several motorcycle accident patients. The ones I saw were all going to recover, I know plenty don't. I also saw plenty of stoke patients who were never going to completely recover and would be in worse shape than the accident patients. Soooo...there ya have it. "Stuff" is going to happen, we do our best to stay safe, that is all we can do. Enjoy life as best you can.
  9. Welcome back.....I just sent you an email.....I am soooooo ready to get together. Let me know if you do or don't get it.
  10. Meg & CMOBrian, Ok, I'm back from vacation.......lets meet! We have 2 wks exactly before school starts!!!!!!!!! I'm available day or night.....what works best for you two? Not sure of a good meeting spot...do libraries have rooms where you can talk? Leominster? Fitchburg? I'm not sure where else to suggest....any ideas? I bought the men's shirts as I heard someone say the woman's don't stay tucked in. Still haven't sewn patches on but we have until our first clinical.....not sure when that is. Not the first week anyway. Hope to hear from you soon and get a date set up.
  11. How was CPR? I did my class already, not my first class so more like a review. I am not done with all the work, I've done most of it but was afraid if I did all the Structure & Function to far in advance, I'd forget it all by start of class. I've been concentrating more on the math as that is my weakest subject. I am almost done with the math book, on Chapter 19. Now, just because I've gone through all the chapters doesn't mean I'm a whiz at it at all. Still need plenty of practice....do we need to have all those formulas memorized? I'm a gonner if we do...... that will take a lot more practice to get them all down without looking back at my notes or the book. UGH! Maybe we should put up a check list of everything that needs to be done, I'm afraid I'm going to forget something. 1.1st 3 chapters of Struction & Function 2.Worksheets on prefixes/suffixes, etc....all came stapled together 3.What flash cards are we suppose to make? 4. Student Nurse handbook, Chapters 1-6 5. ATI Online Tests-Maybe 4 or 5 tests...how to study, ESL student, etc... can't find the sheet right now for exact names. Have I forgotten anything? I quit my job, so am now home during the day, trying to get life in order before school starts, studying, and vacation for 5 days, starting this Sat. I have all my 1st semester books but haven't ordered beyond that. Have to sew patches on still and get all white shoes. Yes, I am nervous too, wish it would just start and get this dreaded anticipation over with. Is anyone interested in getting together before school starts to go over anything or just talk about our anxieties...hahahaa!
  12. Hello Christine, Glad you decided to post, I am hoping more students will. Your just about finished with the requirements???!!! WOW! I've done a little of everything, completed none of it so far. Started with the Chapter 2, suffixes, prefixes...then decided maybe I should start working on the math since that is my worst fear/subject. Did 6 chapters and decided maybe, I better start looking at the A& P on Chapter 2, taking lots of notes and doing the workbook. Can ya tell I haven't been in school for a really long time....I'm all over the place. I haven't sewn the patches on our shirt/coat sleeves yet, I don't see where it says which sleeve...anyone know? I'm going to guess....Left! I've signed up for the day CPR class, on the 27th I believe, any one else taking it then?
  13. I was wondering if we have lockers to store our books/stuff. I'm leaning towards having a different 3 ring notebook for each class, in hopes that I won't have to carry a heavy notebook all day. My understanding is that we will be in only one classroom, so no long walks from class to class. I haven't got any helpful suggestions on book bags, haven't figured that out myself.
  14. Hi Linda, How are you doing with the Math? Are you going chapter by chapter? I have been, I'm up to Chapter 7, 16 still to go and I know they aren't going to be getting easier!!!! Do we need to have the whole book done by start of school? Seems I remember it being said that a math test will be given the 1st wk, then what you didn't get a 100% on you start working with the tutor and by the end of the 1st term we have to have 100% on all the math....do I remember that correctly? The book gives two ways of doing the math, good ole paper & pencil or the use of a calculator and to use one or the other through out. I also seem to remember that it was said that we would be tested on the computer with use of calculator...so that is the way I have been doing the math. How about you? Can ya tell that I'm really STRESSED about the math!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't want to flunk out because of the math...I'll be soooo mad at myself for letting this stupid math phobia do me in. Sure wish I had MADE myself do math long before now. A&P, need 1st 3 chapters read by start of school....right? I'm still on chapter 1, I've done some of the workbook and some of the CD. I've been concentrating more on the math:rolleyes: Well, I've rambled long enough. Donna
  15. Meg. are you looking to buy a desk? You might want to check craigslist. I just bought a new desk and wish I had checked there first. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. I have a smallish computer desk w/hutch, blonde colored veneer. 36 3/4" wide, 57 1/2" tall, 23 1/2" deep. Has pull out for key board, one drawer, slots for CDs, open area below drawer either for computer, or storage. In good shape, I just have needed a bit bigger one for a long time and school gave me the push to get one. Did you get your uniforms yet? ttyl, Donna
