Applicants to forsyth techs 2011 adn program
Hello! I'm also applying for the spring program but I only have 140 points (I think). I'm freaking out!!! I'm confused about the computer classes and their points. I got an A in CIS 110 and it was a 3 credit class but on the point calculation sheet it says 2/1... so I'm not sure if I would have 4, 8, or 12 points from that. I got an 86.5 on my TEAS test with a 98 in reading and the TEAS coordinator told me that is a score they look at when it is a tiebreaker. Looking at the point ranges for admittance in the past, it doesn't really help me feel better! I think the worst part is the waiting!

May have failed my first Exam!
That's really good she put a curve on it but not so good that she's just going through powerpoints like that! I had a professor like that before and I found it very difficult to learn everything on my own! The good thing about this test is that it is early in the semester and now you know sort of what to expect on future exams.

what should i expect
My advice is to take your prereqs just as seriously as you would your nursing classes. At my school admission is based on how many points we have (the grades we get in our prereqs multiplied by the credit hours and added on with our TEAS scores). I am waiting to find out whether I will be accepted or rejected right now and I am wishing a few of those Bs would have been As for the extra points! Just make sure you try your hardest and you should be fine. :)

waiting on admission or rejection (oh my nerves!)
The admission deadline for my school is October 1st and they send out acceptance, alternate, and rejection letters "within a few weeks" and in that order. I'm done with my TEAS and now I'm stuck playing the waiting game. The suspense is killing me! Is anyone else feeling just as nervous and impatient as me?? I'll gladly wait as long as I get in but the not knowing is really making me anxious. :sstrs:

pre-CNA student scared to death of the clinicals and the clinical exam
Clinicals sound a lot scarier than they are. You gain a lot of great patient experience (whether it is good or bad). I found that after the first couple of days I was very comfortable with my patients and environment. The best thing about clinicals is that you learn so much more than you do in class and your instructors are there if you don't know what to do. The worst thing that happened to me was a patient started pooping while I was showering them and the best thing that happened was my patient telling me how much she appreciated me talking to her. The main things you need to remember are patient safety and comfort. Always put the bed rails up etc. If you can I would practice making an occupied bed and dressing a patient as much as possible because those were the most awkward skills on a real patient. Things just do not go as smoothly on an elderly person who has trouble moving their arms as they do on a younger classmate! Good luck!!! I'm sure you will do great! :)

CNA teacher is unprofessional or am I tripping?
Sounds similar to my CNA class! My instructor was old and mean. When it came time to practice our skills I forgot one small thing (I don't remember what but it was tiny) and she flew off the handle yelling "YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME?????" It was crazy. I had to really hold my tongue. Not a pleasant experience! That's unfortunate about the patients where your clinicals were. At mine they mostly just left people lying on incontinence pads (no undies, just shirts) with a sheet over them and were not very quick to change the pads. You would think a CNA class wouldn't be so unsettling! Maybe they are secretly trying to knock out the competition for the nursing programs

Waiting on my letter of acceptance or denial...and i'm getting kinda bumbed
I feel your pain! I too, am a perpetual sophmore. If I don't get in for the spring program I don't know what I'll do. Just hang in there and know you are not alone! I try to just think that it will be worth all of the hassle to finally be a nurse one day. I really hope you get in your program!!!!

I got my acceptance letter!!!!
Congrats!!! I bet you're relieved! I don't find out whether I've been accepted until next month!

Home Health Care or LTC facility?
Hello, I'm looking for my first CNA job. I've read on here that hospital jobs are hard to come by with no prior experience. So I was wondering is home health care or LTC better? It's been over a year since I did clinical and I'm worried I won't know what to do with a patient in their own home but I am also concerned about LTC because I had a bad clinical experience where they just allowed patients to lay around with just a t-shirt and maybe one incontinence pad. Is that the norm? Are there any other jobs out there? Any advice would be great! Thanks :)
