Hi everyone! I live in Vancouver, WA and I will be starting the online program. Super excited I am counting down the days to orientation. I'm hoping I will be able to work during the last quarter, anybody know if people had clinicals down in the Portland metro?

Hey jessa9999, you're probably almost done with with your program by now. For me, the program was not difficult at all. I was able to work 36 hours a week, granted they were 12 hour shifts 3 days a week only. That was the most challenging part, working full time, and doing lab, clinicals, and study time. But course work itself, was doable. It was a lot of content in very little time. Mostly distance learning, the theory/lecture days were like once or twice a week if I remember correctly (and a waste of time). Labs were also once a week along with open lab times if needed. I'm a procrastinator, so I'm not the best person to ask about how much time I spent studying, but if I had to guess I would say at least 3 hours a day. I was very disappointed with clinicals, so hopefully your cohort has better luck. For 3 out of 4 quarters of clinicals all I did was pass meds, administer insulin, and do patient research. That's it. At my preceptorship I was also not allowed to do very much except pass meds, and I think I wrapped somebody's foot one time with Kerlix haha. So yeah not too exciting at all. So I graudated March 2013, took the NCLEX-PN in May, passed the first try at 85 questions, and got a job a LTC facility in June. I still currently work at said facility as a charge nurse for swing and noc. So far so good, now I'm looking to get into a bridge program!!!!!

Hello! I am currently finishing my third quarter at mhcc lpn program. Next quarter will be my last thank god! It's an ok program....disorganized, clinicals are somewhat boring just because we weren't allowed to do very much...it seemed like cna stuff which did not challenge me much since I work as a cna on a med surg floor at the hospital. Still learning a lot though. You definitely have to be self motivated as it is mostly distance learning. Ask me more questions if you'd like .

what were the interviews like? I'm scheduled for the LPN program interview on Jan 20th....I HATE interviews even though my last one was successful this past summer for the hospital I work at. Is it pretty much the same as a job interview? how do I prepare! lol

My applications are in for Clark College and Mt. Hood's LPN program. so I will find out I think mid january or feb for both of them. I hate the wait!

So did your ITT campus have anything to help you find a job now that you've graduated?

Thanks for the advice! I will be sure to look into it and ask questions at the info session tonight. I do believe Lower columbia in longview, wa accepts mt hood but I am not 100% sure. as far as reapplying to clark and stuff I will have to retake a couple classes to get that A, which is just driving me crazy to even think about doing. But IDK lol

hey steener, do you think you can PM me examples of clinical sites? or have you not done clinicals yet at the stage of the program you are in. I would just like to know exactly where the ITT students get to practice, cus I work at southwest wa medical center and I don't think they have any itt students there but they gladly endorse clark and pcc and longview sutdents.

thank you so much for replying! I didn't get accepted into clark this year with 37 points. I think their cutoff was 42 or something. So I'm really interested in the LPN to RN to BSN bridging process. It is good to know that last year they didn't have enough applicants to fill the LPN program. Part of the problem with most schools especially the comm colleges is that everyone is trying to get in since it's way cheaper than going straight into a BSN program at a university. I am going to attend the LPN information session tomorrow at 4pm hopefully I can find out more info!

Hello everyone, Is there anyone out there who has information on Mt Hood's LPN program? I am thinking about applying for the entry in spring 2012. Please let me know how competitive it is in comparison to their RN program. Like are there still a lot of people trying to get into the LPN program or the RN program? What are the competitive points? I'm just trying to see if I even stand a chance.... Thanks! Ada

hey guys, I attended the info session too a couple of weeks ago and they also weren't specific about where the clinicals where, granted I never asked for a specific example. All I know is that the lady said some clinicals may or may not be like 2 hours away. Meaning they call lots of places and ask if they can allow ITT nursing students to practice there. Well, if there's a possibility I'd have to drive 2 hours away just to do clinical work, this tells me that the local hospitals either are full and don't need extra help, or the local hospitals do not want to endorse ITT nursing students and do not have faith in the people there. That is my analysis in regards to clinical info. If anybody currently attending can PM me and enlighten me on this PLEASE DO SO! I am still taking the HESI on the 19th just in case I decide to go there. But this whole not knowing where clinicals are is really bothering me. I work at Southwest WA medical center as a CNA and they tell me that PCC and clark nursing students do clinicals there. so how come they can disclose this information but ITT can not?

can anybody tell me where ITT does their clinicals?

kmolss01 Glad to hear the good news on ITT. I am looking to start in september. I have yet to go to a seminar and everything so I can find out more info. But that's awesome that you are promised a job already. This is making me breathe a little easier!

thank you so much nursejackie2b! I always feel like I'm so alone in this situation even though I know I'm in the same boat as many others out there. I would love to start June 3rd if it's not too late, but I'm still going through job interviews in the meantime. As for you good luck with the program! Please keep me updated! lol

Yep it is rather difficult! I have been working as a CNA since 2007 so really it is all on my grades. but like I said I have a pretty good GPA and all my classes are As except for 3. retaking them is an option but I seriously dont want to lol. Anyhow NurseJackie2B I keep re-reading the threads on ITT tech over and over again trying to help me make a decision. I have not yet gone to an info session. I recently moved back here from the san diego area as my husband just got out of active duty from the USMC. Glad to hear you're starting in JUNE!!!! I am pretty sure it'll be too rushed for me to start in June so I do want to start in September. I think I will contact ITT and get some info. I also read the very first post on here I think that broke down all the payments for ITT tech. Whether or not that information is legit, I do not know. I hope so! IDK my heart is set on ITT tech like I wanna say 80%. the other 20% is still very doubtful and scared that I will be paying up the butt for a crap education.

hey jimithing112! Thanks for responding. However I applied for Clark over 2 years ago and my file has been active throughout my pre-req journey. Once I completed everything with decent grades, I was still not accepted. I retook a class or two to turn Bs into As but that still didn't do the trick. So at this point I'm losing hope with Clark college. The only other options for me are PCC, Lower columbia college (which is almost an hour drive from me so this one is like a last resort if I were to get accepted), or OHSU etc. The problem with those are that the application process doesn't start until this fall, meaning if I were accepted it wouldn't be until Fall or Winter or Spring of 2012. It may not seem like its that far away, but after waiting for over 2 years, I just wanna be done already! So that is why I'm considering the tech schools, no matter what stigmas are attached to them. ON the other hand, those stigmas are exactly what is keeping me from going through with the tech schools. *sigh* IDK what to do lol

Hey all! I am currently debating whether or not to go with ITT tech. I would love to start ASAP and I don't want to wait another year to see if I even get accepted to one of the comm colleges in the area. I guess the only thing keeping me from making a decision on ITT is whether or not it is worth it to go there. And also I want to continue to get my BSN. I already have an AA degree with all the nursing pre-reqs from Clark college. I just want to get in the RN program NOW! Any updates on the current ITT students? advice, tips, stories are much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey mrsb04! I too am looking for schools in the same area and I'm coming from WA as well. Haven't moved to SD area yet but will be in the upcoming months, just waiting for my husband to get home from deployment (he's in the Marines). Anyways I heard the waiting lists are on a first come first serve basis at a lot of the comm colleges there...so I am looking towards a tech school. Ada

Hello! To the above poster thank you so much for your info! I recently got information from apollo about the next start date which is July so I'm thinking about going with them. I have all of my prereqs done from community college but am sick of the wait so hopefully I get to skip first semester if I choose to go to Apollo. I have yet to contact Concorde just to see the differences between the two, but I'm leaning more towards Apollo. Ada

yes definitely not pioneer pacific and even on the osbn site they're pass rate doesn't compete with apollo or concorde. But ok I will search thanks so much!
