I'd Love to Hear Your Kaplan Experience!!!
My school also required us to take Hurst review and I loved it. I was also freaking out so used Kaplan as back up, anyways long story short. I would not waste my money b/c after taking NCLEX I am sure no one can prepare u but yourself for exam. You need to know your content and then you can practice kaplan free questions online, they have old qbank that ppl use. I did inclass review, they constantly do questions for 8 hours for 3 days and last day you do take this test and they go over it. Kaplan teach you technique on how to break question apart and how to prioritize and think of ABC and Maslow. If you just need to take class to practice questions then go ahead. Everyone will have their opinion but I think you will be fine specially you are just graduating.

Took Boards today.
The main thing about NCLEX is knowing your content, if you score good on content then you will be easily able to eliminate your answers. Most of the classess offer qbank which are good for practice purpose but if you are week in content no one can help you then yourself. Sorry to hear about the exam, don't be discouraged. You can do it, my suggestion is to start with saunders and do test yourself after each session to see where your weak area is, brush up on those and you will be set for NCLEX. Good luck and wish you all the best!

HELP!!!! Graduated December 09.....Taking NCLEX for 2nd time! HELP!!!!
Nclex is testing you for basic knowledge about everything you learned in school. How safe you are while treating your patient. I know it must be difficult for you to know where to start, but my suggestion is start with saunders comprehensive book. Take questions after each section and see how you score, if you get above 70% then you have good knowledge about the subject, if not then review the section. But since you had huge gap this will be the best way to review content, once content review is done you can start doing questions. Hope it helps

Nclex stars please respond, I need you 8-)
I can't really remember about category but I was freaking out about it before exam. While taking Nclex I felt they were really easy, they could vary from technique to disease process. Good luck!!

Kaplan help..
One more thing if this is second time then do pay attention to the topics that you scored low on. I wasn't doing that good with my exam so i got all the questions, so if you know your content you can still pass your exam. Good luck

Kaplan help..
Knowing and understanding your content is important. You can do it in 2 way. 1. You should read saunders for your content b/c it will talk about whole disease process and it will help you remember stuff. 2. By doing questions and reading all rationale, it will help you remember that certain topic. I don't like Kaplan book and video b/c its really dry material. But if your scores are b/w 50-60 you should be ok.

If I do get ACLS, will my job pay for it? I am a new graduate and I know that most of the places do want there nurses to have ACLS within year of getting hire. I wanted to complete the course and add to my resume, so I can get faster response by recruiters, what do you think? Thank you

Here is my view on ATI, Hurst & Kaplan after passing Nclex 1st time.
First I want to thank god for blessing me with happiness. I took my exam on March 13 and saw my name appear on BON today. I took so many reviews b/c there were gaps between my graduation and test taking. I wasn't confident and went through big personal loss and felt like I didn't know anything, so ended up taking kaplan as my last resource. And I didn't know if I would be able to take one more loss in my life. 1. I did take hurst review in June 2011 that was the last review that was offered to graduating class for 2011 ( Dec 2011). I loved hurst live review, it felt like they taught me whole nursing school in 3 days. They taught me stuff in away that i remember and understood. I could critically think why certain Vital signs change in certain disease. As far as there qbank is concerned it also test you on content. So good way to test yourself. 2. I took Kaplan because I wanted to be sure that I pass the exam the first time. My husband was not ready to pay for it but luckily didn't have to pay full price. I registered for Live class and they had to cancel it b/c they didn't have enough students so they gave me 50% refund back. I also searched for online code which gave me $50 off initially. So overall my class was $232. Things about Kaplan: hated the book its so dry that I never used it. B/c i don't believe in memorizing w/o understanding the material. Qbank and qtrainer great resource to practice questions but compare to NCLEX it was nothing. I wasn't doing so hot on my exam since i had to do more than 75 questions. So I got all type of questions which included content type questions as well and trust me they were rough. Even easiest dieases seemed like what are you asking for? But you all know that you can find them online for free 3. ATI hated it because my school required me to take it and if you don't get level 2 you fail the class. The reason why I hated it was because the answers will only go with there own textbook and not with what you learned in class from the textbooks required by school. I personally loved Hurst content review, so if you think you hardly learned stuff in school its best for you to go with Hurst. If you feel like you don;t know how to answer priority type questions do lacharity & kaplan. Don't waste your money like I did. As far as NCLEX is concern it is very random, depending on how well you do with test they throw you questions. Oh that 35 page resource ppl use for study is good but you can make your own while doing questions. I learned more by writing stuff that I didn't know. Yes the infection and other mneumonic are very helpful but make your own notes because everyone has their own strength & weakness. One last tip for NCLEX, know your content inside out. If you are studying disease know why certain VS takes place, know what meds are contraindicated and why? Know what diet to provide? Test yourself it will make your life easier while taking the test. Good luck to everyone. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.

Took Nclex Today!!!!
Thank you everyone. Checked ohio BON and officially an RN!!! Sooooooo Happy. Here are few things that I would like to share. 1. I did take hurst review that was required by my school 6 months before I graduated( Dec 2012). I loved hurst live review, it felt like they taught me whole nursing school in 3 days. They taught me stuff in away that i remember and understood. I could critically think why BP will go high or pulse will go down. 2. I took Kaplan because I wanted to be sure that I pass exam the first time. My husband was not ready to pay for it but luckily didn't have to pay full price. I registered for in class and they had to cancel it b/c they didn't have enough student so they gave me 50% refund back. I also searched for online code which gave me $50 off initially. So overall my class was $232. Things about Kaplan: hated the book its so dry that I never used it. B/c i don't believe in memorizing w/o understanding the material. Qbank and qtrainer great resource to practice questions but personally compare to NCLEX it was nothing. I wasn't doing so hot on my exam I guess b/c i had to do more than 75 questions. So I got all type of questions which means just content type questions as well and trust me they were rough. Even easiest dieases seemed like what are you asking? I personally loved saunders content review, so if you think you hardly learned stuff in school its best for you to go with Hurst. Took Nclex Today!!!!
Nclex was really hard for me, I mean I felt like I didn't know anything at all. I took more then 100 questions and got all type of questions 3 calculation question, 4 exhibit, 1 Ekg, 4 drag and drop, ~ 10 SATA, lot of infection, priority, delegation and 1 picture. I used hurst review as my content review and also took Kaplan. But while I was taking exam I felt like my exam was way different then Kaplan. Can't really tell if Kaplan was easy or hard. But after taking the exam I do recommend that you focus on your content. B/c if you know your content inside out, it will make your life lot easier and less confusion while eliminating wrong answer. Ask your self do you really know the content, do you know what signs and symptoms happen with disease, what kind of drugs are contraindicated, what type of foods can person eat. I got this pop up "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time." But I still feel like I failed it, lets see if its true.

ATTENTION To all who used KAPLAN
AJ. The defference btw on demand is that it provides you with video lecture on content, you will also have access to qbank questions and qtrainer questions as well. While qbank will just have questions and no content video. If you are running low on money you can just buy qbank and find qtrainers for free online. Good luck for your second try.

I've Failed The NCLEX 8 Times & Now I'm about To Take It 1 More Time...
I wouldn't give up, atleast you are accepting the fact that you have not prepared for it. I think you need to give yourself one more chance and study for it. I would have suggested to change your date and study for the exam, b/c you can't really pass the NCLEX w/o knowing the content. Just go for the exam if you don't make it, just think positive and tell yourself you will study and give yourself one more chance. For this exam go over 35 page review thats posted here. Some tips for exam ABC, Masclow, safety safety safety, assess before implement, go over complications. I would recommend taking hurst review online so you can listen to video whenever you get chance. Please don't give up and no one has right to make mockery of anyone. Good luck and will pray for u!!! My test is on tuesday.

Just took the NCLEX
Where are the Nclex sample questions 1-3 located in kaplan. I have done 75% of qbank and have q6 &7 left my scores ranges from 50-60% in q trainer and qbank avg is 58%. I don't want to freak out due to low score b/c kaplan is really hard.

TAKING CALIFORNIA NCLEX on 3/15 HELP!!
I am taking my test on March 13 and I am reviewing content from hurst and doing questions from Lacharity. If I have time left after review I do qbank questions from kaplan. I also have q6 & 7 left which i plan to take this week. I was told that if you know your content it will help you through the test. Good luck for your exam and prayers for everyone who is taking NCLEX.

I messed up really bad need help
Hi everyone, When I register I didn't wanted my middle initial on my lisence and even my school didn't have that in records. But my driver lisence shows "N" after my first name. Do you think that could be a issue? If so who should I call?

ATI Comprehensive predictor 2010
I just took my ATI today. For those of you who have taken ATI comp, do make sure to review all the topics from your focus review. ATI tends to repeat lot of questions from one test to another. The way I prepared for predicotr was by ATI practice questions which were provided by school. I got lucky this time b/c i had chance to do 2007 & 2010, there is also section in ati which provides additional 150 comprehensive question. So i did more than 600 questions practice question and took notes on stuff I missed. I also had Kaplan book which is divided into topic like management and care, psychosocial. So I compared my focus sheet percentage and started reading Kaplan book. I would reccommend that you study for it like NCLEX and not just ATI, b/c it covers everything. Don't be disappointed if you missed the first one, if you review your focus review you will make it the second time. I hope this helps!!

Thank you guys for your response.

Help, advice needed.
I can't say much about the score, since I still need to take NCLEX and its freaking me out already. But looking at your scores it seems you were really close to passing. Did you take Hurst in class or online, because I wanted to see if I can get access to online video. Thanks
