  1. Very good points....Thank you! I appreciate all the input. I know for a fact that I want to work nursery/nicu but was just wanting to be available to float or fill in for L&D as needed. I still have some time before I actually face this delima but am trying to think things through and be prepared.
  2. Thank you brownbook. I hope my competence as a nurse and level of professionalism and care is what my patients talk about, not my gender.
  3. Hello all, I am 43 y/o male and am currently a student in my third semester of my ASN program. We are in our OB/PEDS rotation which was something I was dreading but come to find out I love it. I really want to work in the nursery/NICU or labor/delivery when I graduate and pass NCLEX. My question is this: How many male nursery/NICU nurses are "out there"? And the same question applies to labor/delivery. I recently was involved in 2 lady partsl deliveries and have been involved with a C section too. None of the patients had a problem with a male nurse but I'm curious to hear everyone else's experiences. Thank you!
  4. Congrats all!! I was accepted into the ASN program in Terre Haute! From what I've heard, orientation isn't until Aug. 15 with classes starting the next Monday! We are supposed to get our information packets this week. Is there anyone else on here going to T.H.?
  5. I'm 42 and will be starting an LPN program this fall, unless I get bumped up to RN. I only have 5-6 students ahead of me. If I don't move up then I will transition next year to RN. This will be a career change for me as I have been with my current employer for 15 years. Good luck all!
  6. I made it into Greencastle's LPN program but hope to hear from Terre Haute in the next day or two to see if I made ASN! Wow!!!
  7. Terre Haute letters won't go out until NEXT week now!..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Terre Haute letter are supposed to be out this week. Has anyone received theirs yet?
  9. Yah, it cracks me up! I can't do anything to change it, so, I'll just keep waiting........................
  10. They said they had a lot of applications,.......really?? So did all the other campuses and we had to have our applications in by April 1st, so.....2 months must not be enough time!! lol
  11. I called the Terre Haute campus on my lunch, their letters won't be going out for at least two more weeks!!!.......................
  12. Hello all and congrats to those who have made it so far!! Has anyone heard anything from Terre Haute?
  13. Does anyone have any idea how many apps Greencastle had? What about Terre Haute?
  14. No, they were not the same. There were some questions that were similar and may have been exactly the same but the majority of it was different and some of what I concentrated my studying on wasn't even there! Kinda frustrating..........
  15. I just took it again yesterday after taking it for the first time in early January. I got a 75.3% this time verses 74% the first time. I studied the manual for several hours between the two and don't feel like I did much better. The lady that runs the testing center told me she can tell this version must be harder due to all the low scores. I have no idea what is a "good" score anymore. I'll just have to wait and see how the appliaction process goes and hope to be accepted. It's out of my control. Best of luck to you both!!
  16. I'm in Indiana and am applying to Ivy Tech Community College nursing programs, both LPN and RN. Our acceptance is based exclusively on our grades on the 4 pre-req's and the TEAS score. GPA doesn't come into play except as the last criteria in the case of a tie. We all pretty much need A's just to have a decent chance for the RN program. Good luck!
  17. Currently 41. When I enter the program 42.....if I get chosen!!
  18. Nope, You're not alone out there. I'm taking ANP 102 and Math 043 this fall. I already have all the rest of me pre-reqs. done and am also taking co-req's for the RN program. I'm in Micro and Technical Writing online right now. I was one of those who took Math 118 to have it out of the way only to find out that they changed the math requirements. I have alreday taken the TEAS twice now and have another nursing seminar July 20th. Time has been flying since I enrolled and I can't wait to be in the program. I have already noticed that I'm only one of two or three other guys in a lot of my classes and know the further I go, the more that's going to happen. I'm also 41 y/o and am working 40 hrs. / week.
  19. Hi everyone, I started Miro and Technical Writing online on June 1st and have to be done by August 2nd. I managed a B on the first Micro test and have done well on the online labs. I will be taking my second test before July 6th. I'm easily within range of an A in Micro and have a very strong A in Technical Writing. Overall, the class has been pretty good. I do spend 3-4 hours every day either on one class or the other. I will definitely be glad when the summer semester is over, two "normal" classes in the fall will almost seem like a relief!! Good luck!
  20. I just turned 41 and am in the process of completing my pre-req's along with the co-req's for the RN program. I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program. I am currently a project manager in a factory, yep, career changer here!!
