You really need to go into an area that really makes you happy. I completed the Master's in Nurse Education because I absolutely loved teaching and still do. Money was not a deciding factor when I completed my degree, and as you will find out, education does not pay what clinical practice pays. For this reason it is difficult to find qualified faculty to teach because experienced clinical nurses won't make the change due to lower pay. I am now working on the post-masters FNP degree due to my long-standing desire for advanced practice. After 22 years of nursing, I am excited about my next adventure. Good luck in what you decide!!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! If you didn't make it this year, keep trying. Just do what you can to strengthen your application in the meantime.

Was anyone else accepted to the OU PT FNP Tulsa campus?

I was accepted for their PT FNP as well, Tulsa campus!!!

I received an acceptance email Tuesday, which says a letter will follow in the mail....Super Excited!!! Anyone else heard yet?

I applied and went for an interview last week....patiently awaiting word!

I had a very positive experience through OU's Nurse Education program. I worked FT while in school, not to say it was easy, but it was possible to do and work. I would recommend it to anyone!! Heather

I am applying to the University of Oklahoma for the post-master's FNP program Summer '14. Nurse 21 years, received my MS-Nurse Education in 2011 from OU, GPA 3.91. I work in education and also work prn in ICU. Good luck everyone!

I took about a $25,000/yr. pay cut to go from being in a clinical setting to an educational setting, but to me, it is worth it to be doing something you love. Money won't always bring you happiness.

I teach in Kansas, and your MSN has to be in Nurse Education for the Kansas State Board of Nursing. I am not aware of those various MSN degrees in specialty areas unless you are talking about NP tracks. I am attending The University of Oklahoma, and the MSN degree's offered are in Nurse Education, Administration/Management, Clinical Nurse Leader, CNS and NP tracks.

I totally agree. I tend to be a real positive person, not letting much get in the way of that. I am looking forward to it!! Guess I will see, but hopefully that was just her own personal opinion. Thanks!

When was the cutoff date for the application period? Sounds like the time ran out for him to get his information in before the decision was made. Maybe they would have taken him if the information they were looking for was already available. So, by them asking for further info., maybe they were getting his application complete for the next application period. I know the programs I have applied for will not accept your application if it is not complete. Even though he was not aware of it at the time, he now has all the information turned in that they require. He needs to let them know to put his application materials in the upcoming application period. Best of luck in the future.
