  1. I too am waiting May 1st for one school and June for two others...so nerve wracking bc I will have to move too. Chemistry is kicking my butt I hate it, I have a B and am thankful for it...I've earned it.
  2. where are you applying? I am applying to NCCC ottawa, MNU and Pratt?
  3. ademium, I cannot figure out how to PM you but I'd really appreciate your input...first off what MSN program did you attend? What are you doing now? I see in a lot of your threads you were conflicted about FNP, ANP, ACNP...I too am the same. However, I do not have my RN at this point am going for it now but considering just going for direct entry MSN with an accredited school since I also have a BA and have spent time in health care. I am wondering what you based your final decisions on? thanks so much
  4. OMG you are such a sweetie and so helpful...knowing that your schedule is MW mornings and FS mornings is a huge benefit...I do not work I am a Stay at home mom my oldest two (twins) are in school but my youngest is at home with me. It will take me another year to finish pre-reqs because I'm taking it slow to be home with him. Do you think I could do the traditional route to be home with my kids in the summer and only do the core nursing courses....hmmmI think I'll check the website again and call on that but I'd love your insight too. Actually the accelerated option doesn't seem as acclerated as some others at 24months jeez...most finish in 12. Thanks again and any info anytime is helpful. Hope your hubby is safe and home soon...good luck to you
  5. Hi...thanks for all your insight on UMKC I am in topeka and finishing pre-reqs to possilby apply I am a second degree seeker not sure if I should do the accleerated or not it seems the same 4 semester using summers as the traditional on here at washburn that takes two achedemic years but no summers. any advice on either the travel time will get me I wonder if I took the traditional route if I would not have to spend as much time in everyday and be home sooner, I have three kids. Hows it going this is your first week. S
  6. I'm getting in A in beginning algebra and hate the thought of putting off chemistry any longer but it seems to be a pre-req for a lot of colleges to take college algebra first. I can take chemistry with a lab at an online Junior college (educan) but I don't want to get my self into a situation where I'm lost and get a bad grade. Any advice.
  7. I too am a SAHM of 3 2 of which are in school full time and my youngest is only 1.5 so I'm finishing up pre-requs slowly ( I too have prior BS) and my committment is to my family 1st and then myself but I can afford to do so. I cry thinking handing my little one over to another person all day everyday so i just can't do it. I think they are only little for a little while and I'm teaching our families core values every moment of his little life and soon he too will be inschool fulltime and then so can I. I think theres much more to miss as a baby/toddler/preschooler than afterschool events. Besides most fulltime schools are done by 3pm except for clinicals. I would follow your gut on this one for sure, bc it sounds to me like your asking someone to tell you to be mom first nurse 2nd.
  8. I love that you included your "past life" I too have one now as a stay at home mom of three I am so excited to learn again. I was told in my past education expierence to "go to college" but knowone ever told me my lack of interest would come back to haunt me or that I had to do good I just "had to go" I did not apply myself my last 50hrs were a 3.5 but I was engaged and dedicated. anyway thanks I hope I'm more able to "grasp" the algebra this time.
  9. do you mind explaining why chemistry before anatomy? I figured they could be taken simultanelously..but I totally respect anyones opinion esp if this is advice for A's...thanks again
  10. So everyone thinks I should take Chemistry I before Anatomy ....and micro anytime after BIO...is that right...I took anatomy before but its beenover 10 years and have to retake I'm a 2nd degree seeker here. Obviously I know chem1 before chem II but was looking for more specifcs for transition from all. Am I hearing you right to start with Chemistry....I do not have to re-take my Bio class and NEVER took chemsitry..yuck. Have to retake algebra also so that probably comes before chemsitry right??? Hate algebra with a passion....passed it but with a "D" in my drunken 20yr old life 16+yrs ago....ooops thanks
  11. Is it A&P1, micro, chemistry A&P II, CHem II which should be taken first 2nd etc... thanks
  12. I totally hate algebra its like my mind didn't work that way BUT you have to pass it..i've found its the way the teach it that sucks I suggest find an elementary teacher thats getting thier masters or that doesn't have kids that tutors and they can help really well my kids have several teachers at thier private school that are happy to do adult tutoring the reason I suggest ones getting thier masters is they would have had to have passed the GRE algebra to get in...good luck and DO NOT GIVE UP I'm 36years old took algebra 3 times and have never encountered again in my life to the extent of the course...just get through it however you can
  13. I'm sorry to hear you're burned out but as a daughter of a woman that I had to place in a nursing home let me tell you not everyone dumps thier parents off my mom had a stroke and for safety reasons cannot be left alone. You said everyone should have home health well do you think you could pay $20+ /hr 24 hours a day 7 days a week to support your mom? Its very expensive and most nursing homes get paid by medicaid, thats why thier there. I agree the system should be better but it isn't and yes it sucks to have my mom there but I cannot be there for her 24/7 and my house has too many steps I have three kids, Im in school for my masters and cannot afford the kind of care in her home should she would need. I bring her home with us 2-3 days aweek for fun and dinner and I wish others did that too but caring for older ppl is harder in a home environment its just not as safe as nursing centers, ie tile floors tables to walk around small bathrooms slippery chairs small walk paths. SO I guess my point is that you shouldn't judge ppl you should just care for the patients the best you can and get out if you don't like it bc your bad attitude is just as offensive and toxic to the families, patients and staff as the others you were complaining about.
  14. i appreciate your respone bc i too have kids, 3 to be exact, and I do not need any unneccesary busy work. thanks for your insight I have not taken any online classes but they seem appealing for the lack of class time needed to be away from home but its something to think about
  15. I think this job would be the exception so being forthright is a good thing here.
