  1. Someone suggested that I start my job as a GS and then switch over to PHS Officer....I never considered taking my assignment as a GS.... For me it was PHS frm the start.... After doing the math I realize that I would lose out on so much by going GS. My spouse also resigned ... So my 2 income fam is a bust right now....the Going GS would still leave me in a hardship.... I reallyhope they fix this fast. I know a guy that sAid he feels like writng and calling because of the lack of exposure this is getting.... I'm not sure if that's the way to go but it would be nice to receive some updates. Would any of yoU consider going GS and waiting for PHS?
  2. Would any of you be willing to enter you new position on the GS level and wait to be added on as a CC Officer? Hmmm...In the meantime, You would lose out on lots of benefits etc.

  4. Nothing yet... @ viper did your CAM tell you whether or not your name is on the roster
  5. @ Everyone Has anyone else contacted his/her CAM to inquire about the cancelled orders.. and the time frame?
  6. They did not mention anything about OBC, but I'm scheduled for OBC for another 4or 5 months do I didn't inquire about it. I wish I could go sooner. IMHO I don't think our original orders are good for OBC. If you go to obc ur being paid active duty pay. I was told that part of the goal is to get us on the charts.... Meaning no pay until were active and were not active until we get new orders. I was told that my active date likely change.
  7. Today Heard that those of us that were scheduled for active reserve after the 23d will be appointed to the Ready Reserve. The paperwork will have to go through the White House and other proper channels
  8. @viper What did you CAM tell you? Wow...this is interesting...we all have signed contracts...you would think that a change in orders would come in writing.... Did your CAM give you any indication of the how this will be remedied?
  9. Has anyone received anything in writing? Are we supposed to just not show up at our assignments and risk being considered AWOL? What is your HHG have been picked up or resigned from you regular job? Perhaps those of us that have rec'd orders will be moved to the regular corps as well. Has anyone contacted his/her CAM? I will on Monday.
  10. Viper have you received anything in writing?
  11. Have you heard any updates
  12. I just got the same call. I'm kinda upset too. I have already resigned from my job. The wording states that officers on active duty immediately become regular corps. This is get news for that group of reserve corps officers! It great news for the corps. It should also be great news for us! I have signed contract! Cut me new orders and give me a "regular" corps commision. Simple enough .. Right... Well maybe with an Executive Order or something. Has the Surgeon General issued a statement. Viper have you moved already? Are you somewhere Between being employed and not being employed?
  13. @ Ultimo I have my orders...I was going to get my ID today...via telephone the specialist at the ARNG ID office asked if I was already in DEERS ...I called Rockville, MD to ask and an HR specialist told me that I would be in DEERS until my "call to active duty" date/TDY date...... I wondered if she just said that to get me off the phone or because she just didn't know....none of the people I spoke to in Rockville were officers...they were civil service employees..... Did you get your ID at a PHS location like CDC, etc. or at a RAPIDS station on a military base?
  14. Thanks Ultimo.... Okay, Does anyone know if you have to wait until your "active call to duty" date to get your IDs? I was told that Rockville will not input you into DEERS until that date. It seems a little unreasonable that one should have to wait until you official TDY date to get the ID especially if you have to travel across the country.
  15. thanks....so any appropriate attire (suit, collared shirt, sweater vest, etc ) is fine?
  16. Woo Hoo! I have my orders....thanks to everyone for all of your questions, comments, and answers. As a matter of fact. ....I have another question.... Do you have to wear a uniform when you take the photo for you I.D.?
  17. @Serving Christ 1. My liason is a LCDR...she started out working for the FDA and is currently working for the CDC...so you are not restricted to one agency. Sorry w/o speculation, I cannot answer the other parts of your question. 3. Parts of Alaska are considered remote/hardship assignments. @ Everyone My CAM told me today that my clearance has been completed and approved! She is going to give my paperwork to the HR specialist on Monday...I should receive my orders shortly there after. I took you guys advice and push back my TDY/report date by 2 weeks. I will use that time to find housing, visit family, and tie up things before I move across country. After receiving your orders how look does it take to have your information put in the DEERS system so that you can get your IDs...I have 4 dependents
  18. @charming46 Thanks again for all of the information. This is a great networking and informational site. @ viper Congratulations to you and your family! It is a great opportunity! I know that you are excited!
  19. @charming46 Thanks for the insight! However, I have more questions... After seeing the update on the system and speaking to your CAM..did she inform you that you had been cleared over the telephone? Did you receive any opposition when you informed your CAM that you wanted to push the date back?
  20. My background check has been completed.....How long did it take after seeing the update on the system...for you all to receive an acceptance letter and orders?
  21. Wow...that's a little pricey.....what about your insignia (bars, etc.)
  22. This answer may be on a previous post but .... What are the typical prices for the Khaki uniforms?
  23. My hiring agency is also IHS, I will have to relocate across on the other side of the country...so the wife and kids will travel with me. We have been looking for a suitable home to rent, but first I have to receive my acceptance letter...notify my current job, set up travel arrangements, etc.... it seems like a lot in a short period of time.
  24. @Charming46....Thanks for the info... With a 3/28 TDY date hopefully, it is listed as a priority .....Do you have to relocate? Do you feel as if you have enough time to coordinate the move properly? Thanks for the insight and support. Congrats to you!
