I’m an RN (mostly psych experience) living in an area where I’ve never worked. Long story short, I’m recovering from my THIRD surgery within a year for an anal fissure (flap, redo the flap, remove the flap) and have finally realized my surgeon is a hack. I did get a second opinion prior to the second surgery but was assured that the best job possible was done. (I later found out the two surgeons were buddies) I have seen red flags: different excuses as to why the surgery didn’t work including blaming me and then blaming my body type, ignoring my lidocaine allergy and insisting I use a cream with lidocaine in it, this surgeon won’t stick around and talk to you after surgery, even though the second surgery I specially requested to speak to him after. There is just a gross lack of communication and unwillingness to help in all areas including preop and postop care. (Also at one point he even lied to me and told me he would trim the flap off in his office if it needed to come off.) I was assured by my primary MD (who is great but also new here) that this surgeon was one of the best in town. So the question is how do I find a surgeon to fix this mess in a town where I’m unfamiliar with the medical community and haven’t heard the OR gossip? I have actually considered flying back to my previous state to get help from a surgeon that I personally know is awesome but not sure my insurance would pay for that. I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you, that is what I was afraid of. Wow that is really scary. I worked really hard for my RN license and I’m not going to do anything to risk it.

So would an RN who works part time in an ALF2 doing paperwork jeopardize her license if they have CNAs passing meds?

This Is what I am struggling to interpret. In Level II facilities, licensed nursing personnel may administer medications to residents who are assessed as being unable to self-administer medication. Facilities must employ a consulting pharmacist. It says MAY, not MUST. And also some of the residents classified as able to self administer are iffy.

CNAs, which is why I was concerned. In my previous state only nurses or trained medication assistants (we called them med nurses) could give residents medications.

This is why the VA is always short handed. It takes AGES to hire new people when someone leaves.

I remember being very happy at the time that it was cut to one day, and I remember thinking that possibly they were doing this because I've heard the waiting list for the CPNE is horrendous so if it was only one day they could fit more people in quicker. But now I can't find any evidence of this notice. So maybe I did hallucinate it.

Did I hallucinate this? I distinctly remember seeing a notice that the CPNE was changing to a one day exam. Now I can't find evidence of it anywhere and everyone who is talking about taking it is still saying the CPNE is 2 1/2 days. Have I gotten this mixed up with something else? Though I'm not sure what that would be.

I had a similar experience. Dropped out of semester 4 of a 4 semester ADN nursing program at a community college. If you can provide a detailed syllabus Excelsior will go over it subject by subject and tell you what you have left to take. The only four courses I had left to take after this review were Transitions, Foundations, and Lifespan 2 & 3. I took the exams for Transitions and Foundations and then did the courses for Lifespan 2 & 3.
