  1. wow, that's terrible. check residual q4hrs is in our policy and even on the order sheet! I would like to hear who made this change and why.... keep us posted!
  2. I should apply again, but it was sooo much work and such a let down when I didnt get it. I actually called after I got the letter saying I didnt get it. A completely different picture was painted for me then, as opposed to when I was applying because during that time I really had no doubt I would get it. But good luck to you.
  3. I applied for NELRP 2009 with a debt to income ratio of 200% I qualified and didnt get it, they told me it was like a lottery and my application wasnt pulled out of the hat.
  4. thanks! No peds or vent experience for me... but good luck to you!
  5. i got 75 questions and i passed (even though i was sure i failed) my instructor from nursing school told me she'd never had a student fail at 75 questions. Good luck!
  6. No, no union or malpractice insurance. The write up came from pharm, not the patient or anything. any time you take something out of the accudose without an order the pharm gets a print out and they are the one who wrote it up. And just BTW its Monday 3pm and i still dont know if i still have a job. This all started with a phone call from my manager last thursday afternoon... I've only been to 1 meeting. it was me, my manager and one other person. I may have been introduced to the lady but i cant remember (probably cause i was so nervous) so i dont know who she is. This meeting was Friday morning and my manager call me around 11am that day to tell me the 'investigation' wouldnt begin until Tuesday because the person who does it wasnt there (?) I dont know if that person doesnt work on Friday and just happen to not be there that particular day or what. So i wasnt allowed to work my ENTIRE 3 days of the week because investigater person wasnt there on friday?!?! It seems so messed up. If the 'investigation' person isnt there on Friday's, then why didnt they begin this on a day he/she works? I was never given a copy of anything, and the only thing i've signed is my written report of what happened so the investigation can begin. I should talk to SOMEONE cause it doesnt seem right to keep my in the dark for what has been 5 days now! I'm beyond frustrated!!!!!!!!
  7. i graduated from Emory University in atlanta (5/2008) i was sooo scared i wouldnt get in any nursing programs, but i got in all of the ones i applied to (including mercer and ga state). As long as you make B's in all your major classes you should get in. Work hard for no more C's! Good luck!
  8. I hear your cries! Nurse of only 1.8 years... I'm still getting crap like that. Ignore the comments, that nurse is a bully and wants you to react. Kill them with kindness. It worked for me. I always offered to help, tried my best to keep to myself...those other nurses will come around and if they dont it's their loss. The only way you'll make it is standing up for yourself. Learn that now, not after they totally crap all over you. Dont walk around all shift with your head down. It's your job. Time to start acting like it! Good luck!
  9. no i wasnt drug tested, it happened back in january. my manager told me that was not an issue, no one suspected i took it and I'm not luckly i still have my job. i have no idea if i still have it or not. it just seems a little outrageous to take me off the scheduled for an entire week and leave me completely in the dark like this. but maybe im wrong... we fax the order but it takes a while for pharm to put it in and this pt. was in a lot of pain. over riding is used often on my floor, and i've always written the order before i take it out. i just happened to miss that step this time
  10. I've been out of school and working at this hospital since June 2008 and write up's have never been a problem of mine (except a few here and there when I suddenly lost my mom in 11/08). I got a telephone order and i forgot to write the order on the chart, fax it to pharm, and transcribe it on the MAR (gosh it looks worse when i write it out like that). I did an over-ride to get the drug out and documented in my nurses notes "pt. c/o abd pain, medicated per MAR" It was a new admission and the pt. came to the floor with orders stating "nofify hospitalist on arrival." I assessed the pt. and by the time the doctor called got the order for the pain medicine. I totally messed up and I know but this is what my manager did: 1. called me thursday afternoon and told me about the write up, for me to not report to work friday but to HR at 0830. 2. It was her and someone i didnt know that made me write and sign a statement about what i did. 3. Calls me Friday afternoon and tells me the person who is going to investigate the incident is not there on Fridays. Tells me I cant work this weekend (I only work Fri, Sat, Sun) and this lady wont be back until Tuesday. And all I really want to know here is am I going to loose my job!? Manager says sorry I cant answer that. So I've been sick over this since Thursday afternoon and I wont find anything out until Tuesday if not a day or so after! Is this terrible or typical? I've been so upset over it, I've started looking for a new job! Can anyone shed some light?
  11. Hi all! New to allnurses.com but I needed some advice and hope Ga nurses can help! I have 1.5 years experience in a small town hospital medical-surgical unit. Because of the hospital size I have learned and experienced A LOT, but I feel like its time for a change. Although I have applied to bigger medical-surgical units in the metro area, I'm also interested in Home Health and Hospice work, but I don't know much about local (Marietta to Cumming) home health agencies. Any feedback (good and bad) would be helpful! Thank you in advance
