  1. az thanks guys.
  2. After 6 months of looking for jobs in my home state I decided to make a 3 weeks trip to florida to job junt. Within 3 weeks here I had 5 interviews and out of 5 I got 3 offers on the spot for a job, 2 from a nursing/rehab facility and one hospital and I ended up accepting the hospital offer on a medsurg floor where I always wanted to start. Getting those 3 on the spot offers helped with my self confidence and made me realize that there's nothing wrong with me and it was just the case of being in the wrong place at the right time or something like that. So there is still a jobs out there for new grads, just needs determination and perseverance. Keep your confidence high and never doubt your self. Hope you guys eventually find that opportunity to start your nursing career. Just keep on trying and you will eventually get that opportunity.
  3. Prepare for these type of questions since almost all of my interviewer asked these types of questions. Good luck with the interview! 1.Tell me about yourself. 2. What are your strengths and weakness. 3. How would you handle conflicts with co-worker or difficult patients or a demanding shift. 4. Your 5 year career goals.
  4. got a call from hr and everything turned out fine, just worried about nothing. anyway now i need to figure out how to turn down the job offer since i got a much better offer today from a hospital medsurg floor:yeah:. mrsshifflette09 you should be fine, i don't think hookah isn't considered illegal substance. no need to worry like me.
  5. It was a urine drug screen. I am not sure if they will be testing for ETOH, hopefully not, but from what I've been reading it's pretty common that ETOH is included in drug screens now. from what I read I should be ok since it was not a heavy drinking and hopefully 12 hours is enough to flush it out. btw I found the drug test form saying that it's a non-DOT urine drug collection. So according to this link alcohol is not included in the test and there is a separate non DOT alcohol test. I really hope this is the case. Let's say that they test for alcohol would they assume immediately assume the worse that they would reconsider their offer just based on thinking that I may be an alcoholic?
  6. about12 hours, also drank a good amount of water after realizing what I've done.
  7. You can easily achieved that goal! I too made that decision after graduating that I needed to get back into shape so Dec I was around 205 and five months later I got down to whopping 165lbs which is about the ideal weight for my frame. The key is you'd want to alternate your choice of exercise so that you don't get tired of the routine. I did it by exercise, biking, running, hiking, 1500 cal daily intake, no soda or anything with sugar drinks and a dash of divorce on the side:down::redbeathe. I have achieved my goal already and what I found harder to do now is how to stop losing weight. Once you get used to eating like a mouse it's hard to force yourself to eat more. Good luck with your goal, you can do it! If you hate running continuously like me read this interval training site which I believe did the trick for me.
  8. I have no history of use of illegal drugs but could I fail it for having consumed alcohol a day prior to the drug screen? Just had couple draft beers and couple shots of vodka on a good sunday night. Didn't really think that I needed to worry about alcohol intake day prior to a drug screen since I don't use illegal drugs until I read the fine print that the facility that just gave me an offer is a drug slash alcohol free facility. Now I'm worried sick about blowing this opportunity. Any thoughts on this?
  9. Just got a brief phone interview from an out of state hospital recruiter. After the interview they asked for my references. So now I'm just wondering if they ask for an in person interview how long should I plan on staying on that city? Maybe 3 days or more if I can afford it so that I can check the city out? And also what should I check for while I'm there? Any inputs would be great.
  10. I think I got the lowest possible score on my HESI of what they considered to be a high risk score and passed the NCLEX with 75 questions. I think it's unfair to withhold your eligibility to take nclex based on HESI scores. Hope you guys find a solution for this.
  11. You should be good just don't get too complacent, nclex questions are much different than the questions in the reviewer and not even close, degree of difficulty is up another level. Just practice with prioritization (which pt to see first), safety precautions(isolation/contact) and infection controls. I had PLENTY of those and felt dumb not being able to recognize the answer easily which I thought at first that they're the easiest type of questions before the test. Good luck with studying!
  12. Just found out that I passed the nclex test that I thought failed miserably! Here's what I ended up getting on 2 different NCLEX softwares. Saunder's NCLEX -RN 4ed. 68/100 68/100 65/100 71/100 Kaplan's Question Trainer test1 60% test2 61% test3 54% test4 64% test5 63% test6 63% Hope that helps to ease your mind.
  13. Wow I just found out that I passed the test!! I really thought there is no way that I passed after leaving after feeling like I guessed most of the answers. Hang in there buddy there is hope!
  14. I have the same exact situation this morning also plus an added bonus of pearson server meltdown in the middle of the test to make it a bit more interesting. I guess we'll just have to wait it out. It's either we did really good or really bad. But like you after the test my confidence level is at all time low. Good luck to you!
  15. can you guys or gals give tips on how to stuff all those medical terminology in your head. I'm pretty overwhelmed on the amount of new words to memorize. BTW I just switched from computer engineering to major in Nursing so I'm used on seeing numbers than words. I just think my old study habits wouldn't work on this field. It just doesn't flow as smooth as numbers for me. This is my first semester for the prereqs. thx for any suggestions.
