  1. yes!! TRUST YOUR GUT and just because someone tells you something is right, doesn't mean it is! also, stick together. don't throw another student under the bus. or another nurse. stick together.
  2. Lasix 80 IVP is very common... you can push at 40mg/min if you want, but if their BUN/Creatinine is off, you might want to push a lot slower because they can be vascularly dry. Slow is always better. You can always take your time pushing a med. Unless it's Adenosine or something. A Lasix gtt shouldn't be more than 4mg/min.
  3. no promises here but... Convert the patient's weight to kg: 56.82 kg Calculate the initial heparin bolus dosage: 4545.6 units Calculate the bolus dose: 4.55 mL Calculate the initial heparin infusion rate: 1022.76 units/hr or 1.02 ml/hr and then I'd decrease the rate to 0.91 ml/hr no promises that it's correct I did it real quick lol
  4. if something is REALLY bad I'll get a mask and smear a little toothpaste on the inside of it, it adds a little minty fresh to the mask and blocks out a lot... but sometimes it's all about holding your breath and trying to finish what you're doing as fast as you can and getting the hell out of that room hahah
  5. I would do it! if the husband supports you and the kid can get an opportunity to know the family, I'd move in a heartbeat.. not to mention that TN is a lot diff from Cali but overall the experience would be better for you if you got in there than if you waited around in Cali for an offer that might not come... go for it!!! be proud you got the job!! thats awesome!

I would say you're definitely wrong. a CNA is there to help, not to do all of the patient care for you... she's your aide, meaning if she can't help you because she's busy then you have to do something yourself. Didn't you get any experience sitting someone on a toilet during clinical in nursing school?
