The only thing different you will be dealing with as a CNA is taking of the heart monitors for showers, putting heart monitors on when admissions come and yeah just taking the telemetry pack on and off. Thats is. If your asked to do anything else its outside of your scope of practice

I think its pretty cool that you are given the ability to pass medications. I'm not sure if thats the only thing you do at your job or if you also do CNA type of work. But you AND your employer should really consider revising this policy of people with your education to be giving out medication. I'm not trying to put you down or anything but we nurses have been given four years of education on medication administration and your also putting yourself at risk by giving wrong medications. You can be pulled into court for this type of situation. I'm just trying to say maybe you should step off of that responsibility and just do regular CNA work until you have more education. I do commend you for doing the right thing and reporting the med error. Seems like most people wont do that nowadays.

I'm studying my meds for NCLEX prep and just for my own knowledge and I came across Lasix. I know that Lasix IVpush is to be given slow or your going to cause ototoxicity, bla bla bla. I know that. I want to know an exact number that it is to be pushed like how many mg/min? I read somewhere in a drug book that you need to give the smallest vial of Lasix (20mg/2mL) at least over 2 minutes. Now, as I'm reading over this Lasix flashcard it says to give Lasix no more than 4mg/min. I googled it and now I'm finding that you don't give IV Lasix AT ALL when your dose is over 20mg? I've been instructed to give 80mg of Lasix IV push. I gave that at about 5 minutes. I'm hoping this is all making sense. Can someone please clear up the confusion. How fast am I supposed to push IV Lasix undiluted? Please don't just say "slow".
