Is there a demand for Rad Techs?
thanx. may I ask why you decided to leave the RT field and go into nursing?

Is there a demand for Rad Techs?
what was the level of difficulty?
-
Should I have to do this?
It's a twelve hour shift and he requires a lot of work just getting him in and out of the car. He has cerebral palsy
-
Should I have to do this?
Argumentative would be a better word lol

Should I have to do this?
Usually, another family member takes him to church but this person is in rehabiliatation, so now I take him on my shift. I've had a few homehealth jobs assignments here and there, and I've never had to take a patient to church and sit through service with them. So this is new to me. I don't enjoy this at all. I thought my duties as a homehealth aide were to help around the house, and maybe run a few errands like pick up some groceries. I didn't know I had to do all of this. The agency didn't even make me aware of this

Should I have to do this?
Right now I am doing part time homehealth aide work. One of the duties that I have been doing for my patient is taking him to church, and I sit through the 2 hour service with him until its done. Just curious, do you think that I should talk to the company about this? I really don't think I should have to do this at all. And if I refuse to take him, he gets really combative.

Is there a demand for Rad Techs?
I got into the Rad Tech program. I see that there is a bit of physics involved and I've never taken a physics class before. Will this be a disadvantage for me?

If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
Yes, I know that feeling too well. The OCD patients can sometimes be mean, and so unreasonable, which makes it very hard for me to like them and my job. I recently got accepted into Radiology Tech school, and I am debating if maybe I should just pursue this instead of nursing. I know the job market isnt' quite as plentiful as nursing but if I cannot stand what I am doing now, I dont think its going to get better if I become an RN. Or maybe I will like it I dont know.

If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
It's the OCD patients that I have a very difficult time working with. You have to do things a particular way or else they go off. I can't please them at all. Don't know why, it seems other home health aides or CNAs deal with them a lot better than me. I never seem to do anything right with them, and they make me hate my job

I've never worked in a hospital. Just in a LTC facility and as a homehealth aide. What do you like about working in a hospital?
-
If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
Well what area of nursing can I avoid this?
-
If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
I like helping patients as long as things go quickly and smoothly. But those type of patients are far and few in between. Some of them purposely make your job more difficult. For instance, I had a patient who is disabled, and needs to be transferred with a hoyer lift. I got him completely dressed in his clothes only for him to tell me he has on the wrong pair of underwear--he instructed me to go into his dresser to get him a longer pair of underwear because he's cold. My face just dropped. He could have told me this before.

If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
I don't know. That's why I am asking. RNs can go into many different fields. A CNA cannot. I thought maybe I can find something in the RN field that I enjoyed more than dressing, bathing, and feeding all day
-
If you hate being a CNA will you hate being an RN too?
Rude, and ungrateful patients. Patients that take forever to get them dressed. Every 5 minutes they need something. Constant critiques over every little thing.

Well??

Patients wants HHAs to do his homework
I have a patient who is frustrated that the home health aides won't do his homework for him so he can pass his class. He is blaming us for him falling behind in his studies. He wants us to write his papers for him (two 5 page papers), and all of his assignments for his lecture. I can't believe how selfish and entitled he is; taking care of him is enough work in itself, its nearly impossible to squeeze in homework assignments between shifts. He enrolled in college expecting the aides to put in all the effort so he can pass. Crazy.

has anyone submitted their apps yet?

Home Caregiving Experience
I'm not sure, although I am leaning towards it being independently owned.
-
Home Caregiving Experience
Yeah, I am a pre nursing student and I work as a Homehealth Aide. There are pros and cons. For instance, HHA work can sometimes be inconsistent. I've had patients who conditions got worse and they had to be placed in a nursing home which left me out of work for awhile until the agency found me another patient. And then you have the ones who are not that old & just want a maid & a high class personal chef--they tend to be very ungrateful, rude and a little abusive. I find that the males want gourmet meals that I simply don't know how to cook, ham, turkey, greens, sweet potatoe pie type of meals. I can't do that! I prefer elderly or diabled patients who really need help, because I find them to be easier to work with and much more grateful.

Mercy College of Northwest Ohio
I had no idea they accepted provisional applications. Well, I had all of my prerequisites done & was a Mercy student and they waitlisted me for Fall 2011. So unfair! Never got in. Maybe I will have better luck this year in another program
-
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio
I was looking into the Toledo campus. I guess the TEAS reduced the number of students applying this year because last year I was waitlisted): Oh well. I applied to another one of their programs and its too late to pull my application now. eta: why can't you apply for the fall? I sooo wish this school had a Spring, Fall and Summer nursing admission. Waiting an entire year to apply again is pure torture
-
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio
Well, they changed the admission requirements for the RN program again. Even if you didn't score proficient on the TEAS you can still apply for the RN program but those who scored proficient will get reviewed first. I wonder why they changed the requirements at the last minute like that?
-
Took the TEAS today and...
The Science portion that I received had a lot of scientific data/hypothesis type questions.
-
TEAS Score Attempts
so if you take it three times and dont pass you can never take it again ? that's silly
-
TEAS Score Attempts
how long do those attempts stay on your transcripts? and what if you retake the TEAS twice at a school but fail...does this disqualify you forever? can you retry a few more times the following year?
